My first Vid

Heres a video of a couple shots when I bowled nationals this past summer.  I was throwing an angular one 5 X 4 pin above the bridge.  Thoughts?

just an opinion

i think u turn ur hand too much there, it must rotate weird at the release, if this is done on purpose because of the lane condition, u can ignore above statement

theres something u should be watching tho, ur backswing is not a "stable" swing, but its like divided in 3 parts, slow, fast, and slow when it reaches to the top. i think u should be unconsiously puttin effort to make it go high. because of the backswing not being "stable" i would say u might release the ball not in a consistent manner

hope it helps

When a house bowler misses the mark, misses the break point and strike, for many ppl its called a wallshot. When a pro does that its call adjustment

When a house bowler gets his finger stuck in the ball and fall on the lanes, for many ppl its called lame bowler. When a pro does that its called the Machuga flop! ha i like this one.

Thanks, I'll look into.  I've never had an official "coach" before, and this is the first time ive seen myself on video in years.  I pretty much learned everything from watching pba shows, reading magazines and this site.

I used to be similar like that and yeah with age my game had changed alot and now im not as much of a cranker like i used to be. The grip and rip like wes malot is what I used to be now im what is a new term called Croaker. Cross of a Cranker and Stroker. You will eventually find yourself playing straighter with less hand in the future.

Anyway, Your approach to me is fairly solid. Great balance at the line, nice knee bend and a fairlt clean release. Your timing appears to be pretty well matched as well. I dont realy see any thing else that needs to be covered as the 1st couple of posts covered everything I see.

I also wanted to throw out there, that about 2 weeks after nationals, I shortened my span and changed my thumb pitch.  The guy who drills for me was a former exempt player and he said i was squeezing the ball too much, and the new drill has cleaned up my release a little.  After some work I also don't open my hand up nearly as much after I take that first step, which I guess has helped.

The only thing I saw that stood out was that you are having to help the ball into the back swing all the way through the swing. This is because you aren't pushing it out and letting it drop so gravity can do the work.

If you insist on that mechanic and aren't comfortable pushing straight out on the push away, look into the hinge method Chris Barnes uses.

You must have not liked the shot on the right lane.  But looks great.  I somewhat agree with the post above about the forced backswing.  If you want to increase your repertoire, then a more relaxed swing will allow you to be more consistent when the shot dictates a straighter line.  From personal experience (I kinda do the same thing as you) when a straighter line is needed, a more upright stance and longer pendulum swing will allow you to play straighter down the boards and increase your consistency.  But as with any individual sport, if you can repeat your current form consistently then it doesn't really matter.
