I have the purple/silver one. I bought this ball to go between my BVP Punisher and Power Groove Dry/R, something that would turn up sooner than the Dry/R but be smoother than the Punisher. I definitely got what I wanted.

The ball was drilled label, except with a shorter pin and swung out closer to my pap, so it's my only arsenal ball where the pin is under the ring and a couple inches to the right. I left it box finish. My Punisher has a 5+ inch pin and is also label, putting it a couple inches above ring. My Dry/R is more normal with the pin a little above and to the right of ring. I also have a Lane #1 XXXL that's drilled stacked leverage.

I bowled a few games on a house shot, Saturday night @ 9pm, maybe 5-6 games on the lanes but they play drier than a lot of other places. Well maintained wood that nevertheless should be replaced, with guardian. The way the lanes were playing, I could swing anything out to 3 or 4 and have it come charging back. Using the PGR this way resulted in a satisfactory reaction of course, but that's not why I got it (that's the Punisher's realm). I squared up more, throwing right down 11 and it made a smooth and continuous move to the pocket. Where the Punisher and Dry/R rev up right off my hand and go a long way before snapping, this ball seems to hold off on revving up until the later part of the lane, but the milder coverstock prevents overreaction.

In short, I got exactly what I wanted. I saw this ball in the hands of a high speed high rev cranker and marveled at how smooth it looked. I had a gaping hole in my tournament arsenal between my Punisher (one of the most underrated balls out there right now) and my Dry/R (ditto), and this is admirably filled by the Power Groove Reactive, though honestly I would have preferred the now discontinued solid version (and I would have shined the heck out of it).

Review #2 - I felt the ball was acting a little jumpy in the backend for what I wanted it for, so I took the surface to 2000 abralon, no polish. Holy cow, this ball is AMAZING now. Buttery smooth roll down the whole lane, still overall skid snap but it rolls "heavier" now. This surface on my Dry/R was a success too.

This ball is essentially a higher RG Sapphire Zone, remember that. For the price, you can't beat having the two Power Grooves in your arsenal for the drier conditions. Get 'em, put a simple drill on, tweak the surface, and you'll have a great arsenal for late shifts and Guardian/old wood houses.

After a 10 year layoff, I decided to get back to bowling again. I got a chrome yellow Power Groove.  on meduim lanes it is very nice. But on oily it seemed almost straight until I slowed down and then started giving my a nice little hook again.. 4th time out with it, only the 2nd time on oily lanes, I blew an easy spare in the 10th and still got a 200 with it.  I'm certianly happy, my best game every (many years ago) was 243.

This is a quality ball for any bowler. For the beginner, it works well as their first reactive ball, and for the experienced bowler, it fits in nicely at the bottom of any arsenal. However, in carrydown this ball becomes as useless as A-Rod in the ninth inning. It gets down the lane nicely and carries the corners out very well. Overall, this is a good ball and one I feel every bowler should have one in their bag(but I currently don't have one, so I can't talk.) Good job Brunswick.

My last review on this ball was 10/24/2006. I'm starting to struggle on all of my Inferno ball due to both bowling place I bowl starting to used thin oil on the lanes that dries in few hours. So all of my Inferno starting to burn and hook early.  So, I added my Reactive Groove to my arsenal. Wow! This ball just Spin right thru that very thin oil and get the job done. I got 289 back to back and 299 in 2 days of practice. So far out of 30+ games I average 230+. I'm getting the Dry/R to test it.
Added to this review this is now a 300 ball.

Bought ball on E-bay. (thanks for free shipping GLC) Being a fan of PK17, this is the third P/G that I have drilled up. The first two were ok.But very skid/flip in reaction. This one was a cheap experiment. I started with a 3-4" pin ball. I drilled the pin on my PAP and turned the CG towards the center of the grip. The cg ended 3 1/2" from PAP. Then I brought the surface to 1000/2000 abralon, lightly shining it with Black Magic. When I roll this ball, the pin looks back at me and the ball rotates around it. First night on THS: after 5 practice shots game one: 290. Series 759. Duh. Winner.
