BVP – Brunswick Value Performance – Exceptional Value and Great Performance
The Brunswick BVP™ series was developed to provide the widest range of reactions available at the popular moderate price point. The BVP series provides any bowler the ball performance they’re looking for at a price they can afford.

Technology
The BVP Rampage combines a pearlized PowerKoil 18 coverstock with the proven BVP medium-RG core system to create a ball reaction that fits between the Nemesis and Punisher. With its pearlized surface the Rampage delivers more length and more angularity than the Nemesis and its aggressive PowerKoil 18 coverstock delivers more total hooking action than the Punisher. The new BVP Rampage will send the pins into a frenzy. Get the power of BVP. Go on a Rampage.

Utility
Out of the Box: With its High Gloss Polish finish the BVP Rampage will match up well on medium-dry to dry conditions.
When dulled: The BVP Rampage’s hooking action will increase and its arc will become more even, creating a better match-up for oily lane conditions and help blend the over/under reactions seen on wet/dry lane conditions.

Reaction Setup
The BVP Rampage can be drilled using the standard drilling techniques developed for two-piece balls, see the included instructions for reaction characteristics and layout details.

The BVP Rampage is finished with Brunswick’s Factory Finish High Gloss Polish. To bring your BVP Rampage back to its original factory finish sand the surface to 400-grit then use Brunswick’s Factory Finish High Gloss Polish. Available from your local Pro Shop.

Finally they added this ball (Thanks to me for e-mailing them) Well anyways

My ball was layed out with the pin 3 3/8" from my PAP, there are pics in my profile, and I have to say this ball is very predictable and versatile. I was able to use this ball on Med-Heavy conditions depending on how long the pattern was I could play out to the 3rd arrow and come back very hard into pocket. On medium conditions this ball just dominates, I can throw it out to the 2nd arrow and have it crash the pocket. On med-light conditions I had to throw it out really far or decrease my revs without it hooking the whole lane.  I found this ball to work the best on medium oil, if I missed left of my target (on a THS) it would catch the dry area and hook back.  If I missed right of my target it would catch oil and hook just the right amount to not hit brooklyn.  This ball doesn't leave too many 10 pins depending on how much oil is on the lane and the the ball enters the pocket. I would recomend this ball to just about anyone.  Great job Brunswick.!!

I drilled my Rampage with the pin over my middle finger and the cg close to the center of my span.  This is about a 5" pin to PAP for me, and I use this layout alot as it is fairly strong and predictable.

I have used the Rampage in 3 different houses on AMF synthetics, Brunswick synthtetics, and some decent wood lanes.

This ball is very strong, early rolling ball.  Very heavy in the middle third of the lane.  Like my original Inferno, it is very strong for a pearl ball.  I really need to watch, and move ahead of the lane transition, so that the ball will save enough energy for good hit and carry.  When I do, this ball is awesome.

When the lanes break down or are dry, this ball checks up quickly, for me this is definitely a fresh oil ball, but not necessarily a heavy oil ball.

Straight players will love this ball on medium to some dry lanes, just have to have oil in the front part of the lane, to get it down the lane.

Medium/Tweeners will be able to use this on many lane conditions, could be a benchmark ball for them.  Enough motor to use on some oil, enough shell to get some recovery.

Crankers will use this ball on medium to some oily lanes.  There may be better choices for heavy oil, but players with good ball speed will be able to overpower most medium lane conditions and open up the lane, create huge area to striiiikkkeeee!!!

For the price point, Brunswick has a big winner here.  I was skeptical about this ball, because they already had a pearl resin BVP with the Punisher, but these two balls are nothing alike, now I want to try the Punisher!!!  Damn you Brunswick!!!  LOL!!  More hook than the Punisher.  Possibly more hook than the Nemesis, but a different motion.  Not as good on heavy oil as the Goliath, but definitely a different ball than all the others.

Gotta thank my Brunswick Guy (Robert Lawrence/BrunsBob) for sending me this ball.  Thanks Bro!!!

See profile for specs: Drilled up Rampage 5 3/4 x 5 1/2(pin over middle finger-cg in center of grip) and left box finish. I have bowled on a couple of different house conditions with varying lengths and oil volumes.

First pattern: 38 feet-medium volume, mostly dry out side of 5. I have to really keep my speed solid or this ball will run away from me on this shot. I get good hit and strong mid-length roll, but if my speed varies, it is off to the 4 pin spot.

Second pattern: 42 feet-medium volume same dry outside of 5. I could get more square to the condition, but changing speeds makes this more of a beast. Once I started to break down the condition, I had to pick up speed and start to open up my angle to the target more. Still very good roll and almost too strong hit(very late seven and nine pins)

Overall, the ball is a lot stronger than I had anticipated when I drilled it up. I see it as a good ball to get a decent read on the condition. I would like to try it on more of a challenging condition to see what it reacts like.
--------------------------------Update on 12/9/05------------------------------
I have thrown this on some more conditions/surfaces and this ball is still very readable but is now starting to settle in as ball thats pushes thru the heads better. I have been playing with changing my release to more of an dead-up-the-back release and this ball is a tank going thru the pins at that straighter angle with the way this ball picks up the mid-lane.

I have been going to longer pins lately, but was having trouble with a particular broken down house shot that forces you deep, yet still tends to over/under on the oil line.  I picked up a Rampage with a 2 inch pin and set it up up in the old stacked leverage layout, with a balance hole below the PAP.  This ball did just what I hoped.  I still got decent hit when I hugged the oil at 4th arrow.  When I swung it a little wider I got heavy roll and strong continutation but no jerky snap off the dry that had been causing my lots of 4 pins or worse.  This ball is a great step down from the stronger infernos.  I get much better hit from this ball than other midline reactives such as the Bruiser or Punisher but can still use it on similar conditions.  With the leverage layout it reminds me a little of the old Red Fuze with a slightly weaker layout.

This is my first real ball and all I  can say is I love it. My first shot was a strike and they just keep on coming. I get major pin action and lots of good memories. So far is been really consitant for me and is helping raise my average by leaps and bonds. I recamend this ball for medium outta the box and oil once its got some battle scars.

Overall 8/10 and I'm still learning its tricks

Great ball. I bought this so that I could take my Smokin' Inferno down to 220/rough buff and use it on a fresh shot, this would be my new 2nd shift league ball. It serves this purpose well...even though it's probably about the same as the Smokin' in box overall, it allowed me to stay with it all 3 games where previously I'd be moving to my Punisher around the end of the 2nd game.

Speaking of the Punisher, if you like that ball and want that look with more oil volume, look no further than this ball. Drill it the same, and you will see the same thing.

What more can be said? It's Powerkoil 18 pearl, so it's going to go long and snap. The BVP core is "middle of the road" in stats, giving you a controllable and readable reaction, and it gets the ball into a nice roll. You will eat fresh shots for breakfast with this ball, tweeners will essentially be able to play anywhere they want on a standard league block with this ball.

If you're looking for a good pearl reactive for your arsenal, it doesn't get any better than this.

Ok this is my first review here so here goes.
My Rampage has a 2.5 pin drilled 2E on drill sheet with a small hole for static weight.
Primary House:
New Synthetics with a typical tree oil pattern, length  is unknown as house does not give up any info on there oiling (sigh).

I wanted something to go along with my Absolute so I bought a Rampage and it has become the first ball out of my bag.It is truly a great ball for your THS.I find in general its best played on the oil line and out a bit to the dry before the breakpoint.Tonight I had a chance to play on a short THS with it and was amazed with its recovery from the deep line I used. One other great thing is it seems to rev up really quick off my hand and still skid until it runs  into the dry backends,it makes a hard, but controllable turn, and is very continuous through the pocket. You can actually see it still reving as it clears the pin deck.

Very versatile ball I give it a 10 of 10 on performance and value.

One drawback that I do have is that it dont take long for this ball to show your track. And it's a dirt and belt mark magnet. If you want the optimal performance you need to wipe it every frame and use a good cleaner when your finished.

Despite this one drawback I highly recommend this ball. For a house shot there is nothing better at any price range.

I got a Rampage to go along with my Strike Zone (see other review).  My intent was for a ball that was a couple notches down from the SZ but still strong enough to give me some pop at the pins.  I set it up with the pin under the bridge, CG out a couple inches to put the mass bias on the strong side of the thumb.  Needed a small PAP hole to make it legal.

I kept the Rampage in box/shiny condition.  On an oily shot with carrydown, the Rampage skids 50 feet, tries to wrinkle, but it is washout/bucket city....so I use the Strike Zone for first balls, and use the Rampage to go hard and straight at spares.

On a fresh/stripped medium oil league shot...or if the heads get too dry for your solid or particle ball, the Rampage shines.  I am a stroker/tweener with medium revs, and on a fresh/medium shot I could play 12-13 at the arrows out to 5-6 and watch the Rampage rev up and come back hard.  Colors make it look cool revving up.  Just like the original Danger Zone polished up (same cover, similar specs).  The Rampage is a great value, looks cool, and is very strong as long as you have a good backend.  If you have oil up front plus carrydown or real heavy head oil, the Rampage will skid through your breakpoint...that is where you can either dull up the Rampage (grey or green pad), or pull out a solid (i.e. Strike Zone or Nemesis).

My Rampage is drilled up very similair to my Vapor Zone but because the VZ has the MB the reactions are different. The pin/cg on my ball is 1" > and 1.25" ^ with CG slighty kicked out to the right about half inch.

This drill gave the ball a nice controlled hook with a stronger then usual back end pop. It is very surface picky. Too polished and its gonna skid forever, too dull and its gonna hook alot. I like the OOB finish with a light touch of green pad. 1st 3 sets with it were crazy, it has since calmed down. 1st 3 nights: 684, 702, 698 with 4 266 games in that time frame. My typical game with this ball is 20 board to 10-7.

Bought 2 of these in the last few months. One is drilled 3 3/8 off axis with strong CG and the other is drilled very weak. The stronger drilling is VERY strong off the dry. The ball goes long and I get a strong reaction back to the hole.

The weaker of the 2 is pretty weak hitting the hole, but works very well for drier lanes and gives a nice soft arc back to the pocket. I have left a lot of pocket 7-10s with this ball though. Probably more related to not using the right ball for the right shot. Going to use this ball mainly when the midlane is breaking down. It has a strong recovery on the drier patterns.

Thinking of drilling one in between these 2 to see what the reaction is though.

Rampage!

Weight: 15 lbs.
Pin Out: 3"
Surface: Multiple, prefered surface is 1200 grit with no polish or 600 grit Rough Buff

Style: Power Stroker/Cranker
Speed: 17.5-18 MPH (At the pindeck)
PAP: Approximately 4" over and .5" up

-----p---------
---O--O-------
---------------
------CG------
---------------
-----O---------
---------------
---------------

Main Bowling Alley: The New Danville Bowl (Danville, California)
Lane Type: Synthetic
Oil Patttern: Medium viscosity 38 ft. Christmas Tree Pattern with OOB outside of 5 board

How the ball reacted:
I tried this ball with multiple surfaces. I wanted this ball to be for medium/light conditions, but I soon found out the Rampage was stronger than I thought. I tried taking it up to 1500 grit and applying Track's Delayed Reaction Polish. It was still a little too strong, and the DR made it a tad inconsistent in the backend. I faced the facts and realized that this was going to be my medium ball whether I liked it or not . I took it down in surface to 1200 grit and really fell in love with it! This ball gets great length and has a really strong backend! It's almost too angular OOB, but slightly scuffed I really love it! Then again, our THS isn't exactly the easiest of all patterns, so the OOB polished surface didn't match up extremely well. After I put a decent amount of games on it, I cleaned it on the spinner and decided to change up the surface, just to see how it would work at 600 grit with Rough Buff applied. It gives me a similar look, but a tad more length. This ball is a real winner in my book!!!

Reaction Shape: Great length with a very strong backend. The reaction shape was angular at the OOB polished finish, but a tad smoother at 1200 grit and 600 grit Rough Buff.

Hook:
This ball is a true medium ball IMHO. Maybe a tad under medium if you have lower revs or you really polish it up.
6.5/10

Control:
The Rampage OOB was a little difficult to control for me, but scuffed up it was surprisingly controllable for a pearl resin!
7/10

Hit:
This ball definitely hits hard! Can't go wrong with Brunswick when it comes to hitting power !
9/10

Versatility:
Quite versatile, with a simple coverstock change, you could cover almost everything but the extremes!
8/10

Overall:
The Rampage matched up extremely well for me on most mediums, I really love most everything about this ball!!!
9/10

Final Thoughts:
For a "value" ball, you really can NOT beat the Rampage (or any other BVP ball for that matter). Brunswick really has some winners in the BVP and Zone lines! Great job Brunswick!

Thanks for taking the time to read my review! Let me know if you have any questions about the ball .

Ok, had this ball for about 4 months now, I guess its time for a review:
See profile for stats
15lbs
2" pin
Drilled 4 1/2 x 3 1/4 (pin 1 1/2" above center grip)
Weight Hole 4" from grip inside PAP
Surface 1000 with High Gloss
http://photobucket.com/albums/f95/laner7pin/Arsenal/?action=view¤t=DSCN0880.jpg

Needed a ball that got through the front part of the lane and had a strong yet controllable backend. After seeing 2 others attempt the Rampage and fail (wrong drilling/operator error) I decided to give it the "3rd time is a charm" test. I did so and after punching it out took it down to practice. After the first 10 shots or so, ball seemed unpredictable and showed signs of over/under. Went into the shop and hit it with a 2000 Abralon pad to smooth it out a bit and wow what a difference. Ball cleared the front 20 feet, picked up a strong roll the next 20 then made a fairly angular (but yet predictable) move on the backend and flushed the hole. Moved around on the approach playing a little more in and a little more out and found the ball to work well for me playing outside best (not enough mitt to really loop it).
Took the ball to league that night at 2000 pad (drier house) and gave it a shot. Number wise wasnt as high as I wanted, but the reaction I got was stronger than I thought....about an arrow more overall. Next week, added the High Gloss polish to the 2000 and I was able to get my reaction I needed for the house. Playing right around 12-13 at the arrows out to about 7-8 at the "spot" (40-45 feet down lane), ball setup very nice for this house and I was able to outhook/carry/score most every night. Great reaction. Went to a tournament at an older wood lane house and the lanes were playing different than expected, tried the Rampage but could not get lined up (outside was way too early, inside wouldnt turn the corner, inbetween did not carry). Decided to alter the surface after a cleaning and put it at 1000 Abralon with shine, also know the new lane machine was being used for our league and lanes woule play a bit tighter. Playing more of a direct line, (see Ambush review) ball is more skid/flippy than before and not sure how to play them yet. Going to try the surface at 2000 with no polish to see how that works.
Overall ball has been a wonderfuly addition to my arsenal, after about 50 games on it on several conditions it is a ball that most bowlers can use with success on various patterns. Lower rev players will love the backend and higher rev players can get inside with it when the shot breaks down and really score big. The BVP line is the best Mid-range line on the market hands down. Thank you again Brunswick.
