CFT 3.5 is the next evolution in Chemical Friction Technology. The CFT 3.5 coverstock has a higher friction factor than the original CFT 2.5, which quickens the response time, improves down lane traction and increases the overall hook.
Core: I-Block
The proven two-component asymmetrical I-Block core enhances the CFT 3.5 coverstock to create maximum forgiveness, strong entry angles along with versatile drilling layouts.
Ball Motion: With its 4000-grit micro pad finish, the C·(System) 3.5 offers a higher friction factor and increased response time to friction alternative than the original C·(System) 2.5. The new C·(System) 3.5 is best used on medium-oily to oily lane conditions when a quicker response motion is needed to increase entry angle to the pocket.

Brunswick C-System 3.5
15lbs
3.5”pin
3oz top

Layout:
45* by 5 by 50*
no hole

OOB surface

Bowler stats:
PAP: 4 7/8” right
Speed: 18ish mph
Rev Rate: 350-375

Lanes:
2.5 year old Pro-Anvil
Kegel Kustodian
A22 oil

I was looking forward to this ball as soon as I heard about it because I wanted a ball for heavier/longer patterns that would be able to read the midlane and still continue hard to the pocket. Did it deliver? Ohhhh yes!!

On our 39’ THS with 19mL and a 8:1 ratio, this ball did surprisingly well given the fact that any other “strong” ball on this THS usually has trouble carrying. This ball was still a little too strong for this condition but I decided to keep throwing it since it was just practice and I wanted to get a better feel for its reaction. I had the best look playing tighter than usual with a laydown of 26 out to 11 at the breakpoint (our “wall” is from 9-12). Usually tighter lines have a lot of trouble kicking corners out but the 3.5 had plenty of power at the pins to get the 10s and 7s out. Although the ball has some easy length built into it, it still would pick up just a tad too early for my taste for this THS.

On a modified 42’ NCAA sport pattern with extra volume, this ball excelled in playing an area of the lane where no one else was able to play. Due to volume, a lot of people were forced to play tighter lines and to keep the ball inside of 10 at all times. With the 3.5, I moved outside and played down 5-6 and the midlane read that it showed was exceptional. This ball was not allergic to all of the head oil and had a very smooth midlane read before it made its strong backend. As the lanes transitoned, I found a new line playing just inside of where the other right-handers were at a laydown of 17 out to 11 and the breakpoint. The ball still showed excellent control of the midlane and I nice drive to the the pocket. A little later, I moved in to a laydown of 24 out to 11 at the breakpoint and still had a great look with great carry. (One interesting side note: In all of my practice on this pattern today, I did not leave a single 10pin with this ball which I find to be very impressive given the volume of oil).
The comment I keep getting about this ball from other good bowlers, besides its sexy look, is the power it gives the pins on light hits. A lot of 4 pins were thrown into the 10 pin side gutter with this ball ever since the first day I threw it.

The strong read of the midlane is always important when looking at a ball for longer/heavier patterns. Combine this with the strong reaction at the breakpoint and you have a ball that isn’t afraid to play a little deeper on longer patterns but still have an aggressive backend to make sure the corners get out. Even though this ball is easy through the heads, it still isn’t squeamish to a larger amount of head oil and it still has a quick response to friction. This is why this ball will be a cornerstone in my arsenal when I’m dealing with longer and/or high volume conditions. This is truly a ball that is strong from the foul line all the way through the pin deck.

Brunswick C-System 3.5

Bowler:
Pap: 5-1/8 rt, 1/2 up
Speed: 18 mph
Revrate: 370

Layout:
60* x 5 x 25*
OOB finish

I wanted to try something a little different with a stronger ball, so I chose this layout. I really wanted to use a majority of it's strength downlane, and I knew the stronger cover would pick up the midlane. This worked out perfectly. This ball is about 5-7 boards stronger than my pin-up 2.5. Slightly less angular as it picks up a foot or two sooner.

This ball needs some oil to retain energy downlane. If I have enough head oil, I will not put this ball down.

Typically, I drill my stuff to perform on tougher patterns, whereas with this ball, I really wanted it to beat up a house pattern. Something I could just stand left, throw right, and never worry about it not making it back.

Brunswick C(system)3.5 = definite keeper!

First off i would like to start by saying i am no professional. I am only 19 years old. However, I do hold a 210 average which isn't too bad for my age.

I ordered this ball because I thought it was going to be a really strong hook. In this aspect I was a bit let down. I didn't feel that the ball really took off like I would've liked. I am going to try and sand it with some 4000 grit sandpaper and see what happens. Overall, my Hammer No Mercy hooked a lot more.

Ok, that's enough about the negative. The only thing I have found to be negative about this ball is that it didn't hook quite as much as I would've liked. This ball has been very consistant on every oil pattern I have tried so far. I have been doing my best to keep this ball clean and after the 60+ games I've already used this ball it shows no signs of slowing down. Also, I have found that i am being tapped more often by the 8 and 9 pins than i am by the ten pin! I am throwing much more solid shots in the pocket. I think even though this ball doesn't have a strong hook, it does have a pretty good follow through in the back end.

The first three game series I bowled with this ball was a 699 series. Only holding a 210 average, I was happy with the results. So I threw another three games right after for a 746 series! My high game with this ball is a 290. Overall, even though it didn't hook like i had planned. I feel very pleased with what is the C(system)3.5, and I would highly recommend this ball to anyone who wants to build up their arsenal, and knock down more pins.

I picked up a 3.5 from Buddies Pro Shop, through their pre-order program.  I shipped a ball to Chris to pull my specs/match my fit.  I wanted something that would get some length, but have a strong, pronounced break point.  Decided to go with a 5.5" pin to pap (pin above and between fingers) and a strong MB (about 1.5" right of thumb).  The ball showed up a couple days after the ball release.  The ball fit (match compared to the ball I had sent) was absolutely dead on.  I was really surprised how close the two balls actually felt.  Chris must have spent some extra time getting the bevels just right.  Really a great job and 100% recommended to anyone.

I started throwing this ball with the box surface.  I made several trips to the local lanes with hopes of throwing this ball.  The first couple times to the lanes, there was some oil out there, but no where near enough for this monster.  Trying to make this ball work, I could loft the gutter, hit 25-28 sending the ball as wide as possible.  Even with this angle, I was really having some difficulty keeping the ball right of the head pin.  Just incredibly strong.

On a later trip to the same house, I met up with the lane man and struck up a conversation.  After a few minutes, I persuaded him to lay down a fresh house shot (older wood lanes) prior to throwing.  I started out with my Plasma Cell (with is a quite strong ball itself) and had a good line playing 15 out to 5.  I pulled out the 3.5 and immediately moved 5 left with my feet.  I crossed 18 at the arrows, sending the ball towards the same 5 board break point.  The 3.5 never made it there!  The ball reacted about 10 feet earlier than the Plasma Cell and just barely caught the head pin on the way by.  After throwing a couple more shots, I talked to the lane man again and had him come back and put down some more oil in the heads.  This seemed to help push the ball a little further down the lane and I ended up finding a reasonably good shot crossing 20 at the arrows and sending the ball out to the 5 board.  With the box surface, it was at least 10 boards stronger than my Plasma Cell.  For me, it was to the point that the ball was so strong, it would be almost unplayable 95% of the conditions that I would typically run into.  I wanted to pick this ball up for heavier oil.. but WOW.

After some debate with myself, I decided to make a surface change on the ball.  I hit the ball with 1000 grit Abralon, followed by 2000 grit Abralon, followed by 4000 grit Abralon.  I left the surface at 4000 grit, with no polish.  I was looking for less overall hook without a really flippy backend (as I typically get with polished equipment).  Back to the lanes...  nearly a fresh shot, lots of oil.  Started with my Plasma Cell and was playing 15 out to 10 at the break point.  Good reaction, but it I missed a little outside at the break point, the ball wouldn't make it back to the pocket.  I pulled out the 3.5 with the new surface and threw the same line... crossed over.  The ball did get more length than previously, but still really strong reaction.  After a couple adjustments, I was able to move further inside and play 20 at the arrows out to 10 at the break point.  Here, the ball got good length, made a strong move down the lane and tossed pins everywhere.  About 5 to 6 boards stronger than my Plasma Cell and about 10-12 boards stronger than my AMF Clutch Pearl (with a 4000 grit polished surface).

The 3.5 seems to be a good VERY strong ball.  Anyone having issues with getting a ball to react, should take a look here. I could see this ball (on the right conditions), performing very well.  For me, this ball, even with the mild surface prep), will likely stay in the bag on all but the oiliest of conditions.

Brunswick C-System 3.5
Weight: 15lbs
Pin Distance: 3”
Top Weight: 3oz

Layout:
Pin to Pap: 5.5
X-Hole: From grip center thru CG place on VAL

OOB surface

Bowler stats:
PAP: 5” right, 1/4" up
Speed: ~15
Rev Rate: ~300

Lanes:
30 year old wood, resurfaced 3 years ago.
Pattern: 38' THS

I won this ball in one of the raffles on this site.  I was afraid after reading so many reviews on the 3.5 that I would not be able to use it on the conditions I see.

Well to my surprise, this ball even works well on a THS with wood lanes!  I was playing left foot on 35, 15 at the arrows, out to around 7 for my break point.  It has such easy lenght for me as long as I don't get lazy, The back end move is so strong but very controllable.  The carry is unreal, pins fly everywhere.  A number of times the 10 pin was standing there and then got kicked out late.  I left 1 ten pin all night long!

The thing that amazed me the most is on a typical league night I have to move quite a bit as the night goes on or change equipment to a lesser ball.  With the 3.5 I stayed in the same spot for all 3 games, I couldn't beleive it!

I ended up throwing my personal best series of 692 last night right out of the box! I left a 4 pin on my second ball in the 10th on a shot that was a tad on the heavy side.  So close to a 700!

Thank you Brunswick!

Layout: Pin 4.5" from PAP above the fingers, MB at about 55 degrees, factory surface

The first time I tried this ball was at a house with plenty of oil inside, yet I still had to make a 6 & 3 move inside vs. nearly anything else in the bag. I was impressed! Very strong recovery with the usual C-System strength through the pins.

Then... for whatever reason (probably bowler related) I just couldn't find a condition or line that wasn't feast or famine for me. I put it away until my head had a chance to clear the "cobwebs" from my head, knowing it would be reliable if/when I found enough oil.

Lately I have brought it out again with the thought of just playing deeper than normal and letting the ball work for me. That has been the key for me with this piece. Don't grab it at the bottom, just let it perform and it really does the job. Decent length, but when it finds friction (any friction whatsoever) it turns aggressively back toward the pocket.

I can see this ball excelling on higher volumes where more entry angle is created than I get from the typical "heavy oil balls". This ball is DEFINITELY STRONG, and will need some oil, or put it away in favor of weaker cover balls.

I'm starting to see the value of the 3.5 and it's place in my Brunswick arsenal. Thank you Brunswick.

check out my video! thank you.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GCoBn_aPYwc

I am a stroker / tweener, 15 - 16 mph, 275 revs. In this video is a fresh house shot laid down minutes before i used it. These were my first couple games using this ball and for the first day i already found to roll how i wanted it to. I have this laid out 45 x 4 1/2 x 70. i wanted this ball to start midlane and have a smooth controllable arc. This layouts create a slower response to friction thus making i very predictable and controllable for my style. So far after one day i am happy. the ball hits hard, great pin action and very little deflection. I practicing on this fresh house pattern staying in the middle playing in the oil to see how it reacted. I play mostly bowl in leagues with sport like patterns or in a kegel pattern league. I wanted to use this on the longer pattern to play more direct or down and in. On a house shot i can swing it to the dry boards if i want to but i dont. Its not my style and it creates an inconsistency for me. I only move more inside when i rally need to but otherwise i switch ball to try to stay near the same spot. I have been bowling for a year and 2 months now and have bought a lot of bowlings ball and this rolls the smoothest so far. thanks for watchin. Hope you like the editing of this video.

Lefthander stroker
about 350rpms
16.5-17mph

ball drilling 5x4x4
This ended up puting the pin below my bridge and the MB about an 1" left of my thumb. Ball burnt up too early at oob condition so I took it down to 500 then put in the luster king for 4 minutes(I have to do this every 6 games or so to keep the same reaction).  Ball goes long clears the heads then makes an angular move at the breakpoint.  I was really impressed with this ball, I never would have thought about brunswick but I got this ball so cheap it was a no brainer and I'm glad I did.  I got the Invasion about a week or so before I got this ball and they are drilled similar(pin is up on the invasion) and this ball outshines the Invasion by a wide margin.  At oob the invasion burns up to early and with any kind of polish it just skids and skids, it's now collecting dust in my bag as the 3.5 is my goto ball. I love this ball!!! Thanks Big B

--- Brunswick C System 3.5 ---

Layout

5 inch pin, MB @ 75 degrees.

I found this ball to be a great compliment to the 2.5. For me it was stronger then the 2.5 overall. It still had the great same motion and kept pins lower just like the 2.5 does. I was able to work with some surfaces with this ball and did not lose any of the reaction like some balls do. Still had the same great motion overall! Another great product from Brunswick!

This ball is a great 1-2 punch with the 2.5. I have thrown 2 of these, one is a VAL and the other one is pin down with no hole. I have shot about 5 honor scores with this ball alone since signing with Brunswick and that includes a few 299's and a 814. I'm really impressed with the continuation of this ball downlane because most high performance balls with a big cover and come sanded usually start real early and burn up in the mids and hardly move on the backend. This is not one of those typical balls, this has motion all the way through the pindeck. If you own a 2.5 then it's a must you drill this ball, if you don't have a 2.5 then your next two purchases should be the 2 of these c systems.

I decided to drill the new C-System 3.5 mostly to get a fresh look on the lane. Brunswick has gone in a new direction with this line and after hearing people rave about the 3.5 I decided to punch one up.

I drilled several of these for some customers and they just love the ball. Watching the reaction they got was really impressive. The shape and reaction on the lane is different than what one might have grown to expect from Brunswick.

I can only think of one phrase to describe this ball... “deceptively strong”. By that I mean for a ball that has as strong a cover and core it is surprisingly clean through the front. It revs up very well and makes a super strong move to the pocket but, it sneaks up on you. Most aggressive balls roll really heavy, not the case with the 3.5, it is very clean. The only thing I have noticed is a little wiggle in the back end when the lanes start to breakdown...most likely due to carry down.

I put my favorite asymmetrical layout on it... 5" pin to PAP, 3” MB to PAP. Pin up over the bridge. CG is kicked a bit but no weight hole was necessary. I initially left the ball in box condition but, since lightly hand scuffed with 1K Abralon pad. That was certainly the ticket, the ball really came to life.

What I was looking to create was a ball that could sit at the top of my arsenal and handle fresh tournament volume. Since the C-System 3.5 is an early ball, the pin up drilling helped to get it a little further down lane while reserving some “pop” for the back end.

What I got was a ball that rolls smoothly on tight sport tournament conditions but, still makes a very hard and continuous move through the pin deck. I very seldom see this ball deflect a lot on solid pocket hits. On a fresh house condition, I can get left and feed the ball right. On those conditions the ball just eats up the lane.

I have to admit it took me a while to learn what the ball wanted to do. It has a unique look on the lane that at first threw me. But, I have to say I've learned to trust the ball and just make sure I get through it clean and let it roll. Just recently shot a 300 with it (unsanctioned) and continued on to get the next 6 for a total of 18 in a row.

For those of you who have never tried a Brunswick ball, give the C-System line a look. Brunswick is on top of their game with these pieces.

Got this ball when i saw my friend throw it and i was very impressed by the carry of the ball. When it hits solid, it throws the pins around. When it hits flush with the pocket, he was almost guaranteed with a strike. And when he threw it through the nose, for some reason all the pins would fall down O.O

Went to get the ball and drilled it to be versatile so i could throw it on any pattern our house would have to throw at us. Since they change the to something new every 2 weeks >.<

I was very impressed on how the ball reacted for me. Got through the heads clean and it carried like a train. One main thing that stood out about this ball is how it rev'd up so easily.

Great ball by "Brunswick", Hits Hard, and is Smooth through the heads.

Hi guys -

Haven't posted for a while, but this one is too good to pass up.

I finally tried a Brunswick again after an unfortunate experience many years ago with a Swamp Monster. I am glad I did it! I picked up the C 3.5 used and had it redrilled in basically the same spot as I got it, pin up, with the mass bias kicked out right a little.

I am pretty much a stroker and am averaging about 215 this year. For my house shot, I have found this to be the ideal benchmark ball - I can start with it when the lanes are slightly on the oily side, but then stick with it most of the night even after the lanes break down. I have noticed it going a little long when there is a lot of oil in tournaments, etc., (maybe a function of the drilling?) but for the most part I am happy with the versatility. The ball really does hit hard if I let it roll, and sets up nice when I yank it mercilessly.

Last Wednesday had a 297 in my second game in league (an absolutely horrible shot on the last ball) with this ball! I like to try them all, and am glad I gave the big B a shot again.

LANE CONDITION

Length: Long

Volume: Medium

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc): THS

COMMENTS

Likes: This ball is definitely powerful when it comes to meeting the break on the lane. Very deceiving power through the heads and straight through the pocket.

Dislikes: This ball tends to not be a fan of oil. Another downside would be pin action with this ball is very limited. Most of my shots with this piece have to be flush or striking is non existent.

FIRST, LATE ME SAY, I AM NO EXPERT, BUT I LOVE BOWLING. MY STYLE OF BOWLING IS BETWEEN A STROKER AND A TWEENER, I AVERAGE AROUND 205, I THROW AROUND 16 MPH. I USUALLY PLAY DOWN AND IN STYLE. I HAD THE C-SYSTEM 3.5 DRILLED TO GO LONG. I ADJUSTED THE SURFACE A BIT, FIRST I USED A GREEN SCOTCH BRITE ( ABOUT 600 GRIT) THEN FINISHED IT WITH A WHITE SCOTCH BRITE ( ABOUT 1500 GRIT).  I USUALLY PLAY UP THE 5 BOARD AND LET THE BALL DO THE WORK. WITH THIS BALL I WAS ABLE TO MOVE LEFT AND THROW OVER THE TWELVE BOARD OUT TO THE 5 AND WATCH THE BALL MAKE A LATE BREAK AND DESTROY THE POCKET. THE BALL MAKES A VERY STRONG LEFT TURN, I LOOK LIKE A CRANKER WITH THIS BALL, AND THAT'S NOT EASY FOR ME. IT DID TAKE A LITTLE GETTING USE TO, BUT NOW I AM VERY CONFORTABLE WITH THIS BALL. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS BALL TO ANYONE.

THANKS,
JNBLUES
