- Description: CFT v4.5 Coverstock - CFT v4.5 is the next progression in Chemical Friction Technology. The CFT v4.5 coverstock has a lower friction factor than CFT 3.5 which improves length through the heads and mid-lane without sacrificing the quick response and improved traction on the back-end.
I-Block Symmetric Core - The new I â€“ Block Symmetric core was created by modifying the original asymmetric I â€“ Block core (which has a symmetric base and an asymmetric flip block) to have an asymmetric base. By creating an asymmetric base with an asymmetric flip block on perpendicular axes the two asymmetries cancel each other out making the core shape symmetric. The core shape was also thinned and stretched to increase the RG min while maintaining the overall differential.
Ball Motion - With its Rough Buff finish, the C-(System) v4.5 will offer a lower friction factor with similar response time to friction alternative to the C-(System) 3.5. The new C-(System) v4.5 is best used on medium to oily lane conditions when you need to use a breakpoint further down the lane with a quick response motion to increase pin carry.
Reaction Setup - The C-(System) v4.5 can be drilled using the standard drilling techniques developed for symmetric bowling balls.
Lightweight Engineering - The unique core shape of each Brunswick ball is used for weights from 14 to 16 pounds. This approach to lightweight ball engineering provides bowlers with consistent ball reaction characteristics across this weight range. The same drilling instructions can be used for 12- and 13-pound balls. This is because Brunswick uses a generic core shape with an RG differential that is close enough to the 14-16 pound shape.

   Ever since the 2.5 came out, Iâ€™ve been praying for a symmetric in the C-System line. Now that Iâ€™ve thrown this ball, I know Iâ€™ll be getting another one. The layout used on this ball is a more conservative one that I use when I want to control the midlane and tame down a ball a little bit.

   On my 39â€™ medium-dry THS, the v4.5 gave me a controlled read of the midlane and the pop on the backend that Iâ€™d expect with a C-System ball, although the layout did tame down the backend a bit. I was laying the ball down on 20 and sending it out to 7 before it snapped back to the pocket with a hard hit. With this layout, the ball sat in the oil when pulled inside and slapped the 10 out. When sent out a little wide of target, the cover of the v4.5 took over and reacted strongly enough to get back to the pocket with energy. This ball took very kindly to release and line changes. I could go up the back of the ball and play 12 to 10 or get around it and swing it from 30 to 10. If youâ€™ve seen the ball video on www.brunswickbowling.com, youâ€™ve seen BillyO talk about the â€œwindow of usabilityâ€ with the v4.5 in that you can stay with this ball longer throughout the night. I completely agree with this statement. The cover really allows the v4.5 to be as versatile as you want it to be.

   On PBA Scorpion at 50uL per board, the v4.5 worked best with a line of 14 at the laydown out to 9 at the breakpoint. This was 3 boards further outside than my 3.5. The v4.5 gave me more length through the pattern but more backend than that of the 3.5. The thing I liked most about the v4.5 was the ability to continue to use it well on into the night when the 3.5 and Revolver started burning up just a tad bit early.

   Even with this tame drilling, the v4.5 gave me plenty of reaction that Iâ€™d expect from a C-System ball. I will say that this is my new benchmark ball. The midlane read combined with the moderate pop at the backend set this ball to be in the dead middle of my arsenal. I do plan on getting another v4.5 and to drill it stronger and more angular to really bring out the beast. With exception to the driest and longest of patterns, I could picture this ball being able to fit into any spot in the bag with different layouts and surface changes. For most bowlers, I feel that the v4.5 would dominate any THS. This ball is going to be in my bag for quite a whileâ€¦..

The ball being drilled was a 3â€ pin out with 3.00 oz top weight.
Drilling: Pin 4 1/2" from PAP and Mb 45 degrees from PAP, 30 degrees V.A.L. Line DUAL ANGLE. Pin is above ring finger. Weight Hole on the axis. Factory Rough Buff.

Bowler Information:
Track diameter is 11 5/8.
PAP is measured at 4 11/16 over and 11/16 up.
Average ball speed (foul line to head pin) is 13 mph.
Axis rotation is typically 90 degrees
Initial rev rate is typically 200 rpm, "Tweener"
Lane Condition and Pattern:
Badger Bowl, Madison, Wood, just refinished. Oil Pattern: USBC White Pattern. medium oil outsides, heavier oil inside, very clean backends.

Review:
I am having my daughter Ashley test this ball for me. 180 Average, 18 years old with medium to slow speed and a low spinner type track.

The 4.5 is a improved 2.5, just as clean through the fronts but smoother off the dry spot, a great medium to medium oil lane ball, I am impressed with the reaction of this ball, it hits the pins silly, love the fact that Brunswick put in a symmetric shape core in this ball, spins up fast and is more readable at the breakpoint, goes through the pins beautifully. My daughters comment throwing this ball was "Dad, I love this ball". As long as she had head oil and a little hold, the ball was deadly, lose the head oil and hold area, you have to put the ball away.

Probably the best C-System out of the three just because many styles of bowler will love the motion of this ball.

From her 2.5, the 4.5 is 2 boards stronger and is cleaner through the fronts but is smoother off the dry spot. Great looking ball. Great shelf appeal.

This ball gets down the lane effortlessly. The coverstock has a lower friction factor than the 3.5 which makes it go several feet longer before it wants to pick up. The cover is still strong enough to cut through the carry down and hit when the lanes are burned up. This ball would be ideal for anyone with slower ball speed and a higher rev rate. Other bowlers whose speed and rev rate match up would find this ball easier to "throw" through the front and would be able to play straighter as the oil moves from the front to the back of the lane. All in all, this is the ideal piece of equipment to have in your bag for the last 3 or 4 games of a long tournament. Advantage Brunswick!

The C-System 4.5 did exactly what I pictured it would do, which is why I
drilled it with a pin up, 5 in. to PAP drilling and the cg at 4 3/4 inches to PAP. I drilled this up to work as a transition ball from the Anaconda when I need a little more down lane reaction. The ball pushes through the heads better than both the Anaconda and the Revolver. It picks up a little later than the Anaconda, but when the lane carries down too much and the Anaconda begins to wiggle, the C-System really makes that continuous flip that I need without having to overwork my throw to make other pieces work.

I drilled the 4.5 with the pin above the bridge and the cg kicked right about 1-1/4" right of grip center. I was able to do this without a weight hole cause it had lower top weight! This ball really impressed me with the ease it was able to get down the lane and the breakpoint was really strong. I've used this ball several times in league when I've had enough oil to not fight the backend! The carry with this ball is really good and if my 3.5 is to strong and pin down Evil Siege is to early, I know the shot will be right for the 4.5. This is another great release from the Big B and a great addition to any arsenal! Just my $.02, Bruce

Right Handed, Cranker style, I usually play between 3rd and 4th arrows, 16 mph speed
Box Surface - 500 grit Micropad, then Rough Buff,
My PAP is 5 3/8" over and 7/8" up, Dual Angle Drilling Layout - 60 Deg x 5" x 40 Deg which puts the pin above my fingers and no weight hole

I was looking to use this ball in later games of a tournament so I can move in and open up the lane when everything else is hooking too much. I drilled my 4.5 so that it could show its strength for broken down conditions, and it worked perfectly the first night. This ball clears the heads extremely well, gets through the midlane without over-reacting, and finishes strong. This ball has a smooth ARC, but will make a stronger move if you get it out to the dry boards. The first time I used it was in a 2nd shift league, and I shot 300 the 1st game. This ball is a must have for 2nd shift leagues or later games in tournaments when everything else is hooking too much. Great Job by Carmen Salvino, Billy O, and the Brunswick team. This ball is a WINNER!

I have to admit, when I found out this ball had a symmetrical core in it, I was a bit dissapointed, as I loved the 3.5, but as the lanes broke down, it didn't want to quite hook at the end as it did on the fresh. I didn't know if this core would be strong enough...I am eating my words. This ball has been a life saver on the tricky USBC White #3 we are using for the best Classic league in the area this season. With most people stuggling with either too much hook or not enough power with weeker equimpment this ball gives me the perfect look. With a 60X5.5X35 and hole at P3 it is very easy through the front on the very narrow condition, and still has plenty of reaction left at the end. I would reccomend this ball on any light volume pattern,or any broken down pattern. Another hit in what is in my opinion the best line Brunswick has released.

This is my first Brunswick ball in a couple years, wasn't too fond of the mexico thing, but got a killer deal on one and decided what the heck? lets throw it. I am glad I did, this has been probably the best or 2nd best ball I have thrown in the past 5 years.

I have the ball layed out pin under middle finger, my pap being 3 3/8 over and 1/2 up, its like a 4 inch pin to pap I think, it was a 4 1/2 inch pin to cg, which is kicked just at about 2 o clock of my thumbhole, with a small weighthole placed on my val near my thumb, basically a p3 hole kinda deep to hit the core and create a little more dynamics on a sym core.

I have only thrown i on house shots so far, but it really clears nice even with e pin down layout, actually my only gripe was that it didn't read the lane too well until it had about 2-4 solid games on it, so i recommend practicing wit i before taking it out competitively to get a track on it. After the little squirt period i had with it, the ball is a masterpiece, i get a nice clearing ball that really picks up the end of the midlane and makes a continuous move on the back, the carry is phenomenal. I would recommend this ball to anyone, especially for house shots, i may update once i get to throw on some pba shots, but its a winner on the easy stuff for sure.

Drilled 2 of these:
Pin above ring fionger (4.5" to PAP) in box condition
Pin above middle finger (5.5" to PAP) with polish.

I find the C System 4.5 to be a couple feet longer than the 2.5, and allows me to move my feet a couple boards towards the outside. I find this ball to compare somewhat to my Hyroad, just with a little more length through the midlane and snap on the backend

This ball is a little more sensitive to my hand positions at release than most balls in my bag, and does have the potential to squirt out when faced with too much oil.

My stronger 4.5 is amazing on medium oiled house shots after the first game. It allows me to really open up my angles and create the maximum amount of area on the lane.
My weaker 4.5 is more effective on burnt out sport patterns. It is more sensitive to friction, and allows me to open up my angles once the lanes begin to blow open.

This is definitely a piece that I would recommend for slower ball speeds and higher revrates as a high performance ball with a great cover that will get downlane on patterns that have seen some wear.

I was looking for a ball to complament my C-2.5 and it does. The 4.5 is clean through the fronts and has a strong midlane hook. It hooks about the same amount as the 2.5 but starts hooking a little earlier. Drives through the pins and carries well.

I have the international version of this ball, the 4.5 intl. and I love this ball. I can use this ball on just about every lane condition that I've come across. Except for dryer conditions. I think the intl version of the 4.5 reads the lanes a little better than the original 4.5. However, I bowl with guys that use the 4.5 and the can use this ball on a lot of different patterns with success as well.

Likes: Versatile and carries very well. Whenever I'm struggling with more aggressive equipment or even less aggressive equipment. I can always go to this ball. It isn't always the first ball out of the bag, but when it comes out it always gets the job done.

Dislikes: none.
