I got this ball at the Mini-eliminator. I used my Apex, drilled stacked leverage 3 3/8 for all of the Tournament and bowled real good playing inside . But for the Brunswick Shootout you had to use the Fuze, so I had it drilled the same as my Apex. Playing the same line, the Fuze hooks about 2 or 3 boards less than the Apex and goes a little longer before taking the break. I probably could have hit the cover with a scotch pad to get the same reaction , but I liked it the way it reacted out of the box.The Fuze gives me a ball to turn to when the Apex starts to hook to early. The Fuze hits about as hard as the Apex. This is the first Brunswick ball that has some length to it.

Thank You for taking the time to read this review. This Exciting New Ball from Brunswick Called the Navy Particle Fuze is a New and Different Departure for Brunswick which in the past has been labeled as a early hook and lots of hook company. Not with this one.

Remember this is a "Proactive Ball", instantly you think early hook and arc. But not True. This Beautiful Navy Proactive with sparkles has a New Xtra Length Coverstock along with one of the highest RG's I have seen at 2.66 and a diff. of .052 would make you think that this ball would go forever and then flip. But the R&D Boys at Brunswick have done their homework and matched up a great core with a appropriate coverstock to give good length, not excessive, with a strong charging backend reaction of a strong arc nature. This is not your typical Brunswick ball. No Zone Family here.

The lane conditon I tested this ball at was on two different conditions and houses. One Newly installed HPL Panels in great shape, Christmas Tree Pattern, and the other Center, Wood, recently screened and recoated, also christmas tree pattern, but known for inconsistant breakpoint and bad carry.

The Ball reacted well on both, which shows me it's flexibility to various houses and different conditons. I had to be 3-5 boards deeper on the average than my Purple Pearl Fuze with a little firmer speed to hold the pocket, otherwise it wanted to creep high. Definately no early hook here and strong hitting pin carry. One of the "FEW" balls in the particle family that you can get deep and still get the recovery on the backs. Definately for medium to oily lanes. Don't pull it out unless you have some hold area. The ball hit the hardest at the wood lane house known for it's lousy carry, showing the strength of it's core. Definately a Keeper in the bag.

Finally, the thing I like the most about the ball is the surface does not seem to go away or alter, it stays very consistant over the games, and does not have to be sanded like the HPH's or Pro Zones, just clean it regularly. Less maintance is good, especially when carrying six balls to the alleys.

Brunswick will turn some heads with this one, and I applaud them on making a wonderful ball for oily lanes. Thank you for reading this review and best of luck on your bowling.

I have drilled many of these with only lukewarm feedback.

Ball gets great length for a proactive
and has a strong arcing backend.

Carry is a little less than some other choices.

Overall covers a lot of boards late for a proactive

I drilled this ball out with a 4 x 3 1/2 pattern that required a balance hole placed on the line 1.5 inches below my PAP.  This has been a good pattern for me on the Brunswick proactives.  

The Fuze is not going to be popular with everyone, but I suspect that it will have some pretty avid fans.  Brunswick attempted to use a tall extremely high rg core to offset the effects of a heavy particle load and still get the ball down the lane. They were successful, but at a price.  The 2.61 rg combined with a moderately shiny shell goes longer than just about any particle ball I have seen outside the El Nino 2000.  On the downside this ball has the characteritics of a 3 piece ball with a strong shell.  On a slightly broken down 10 to 10 wall I was able to make this ball get a strong angular turn on the back end, but without a lot of revs due to my lack of hand and the high rg, the carry was less than spectacular.  It also had a nasty habit of over reacting to the dry if my speed was less than perfect.  On the same line my trusty shock zone glided effortlessly through the heads and made a smooth and storng recovery that carried everything.   When I got the fuze into the oil at 14 board there was too much skid and, again not much hit.  For me this ball is not a good matchup of core and shell.  I know from experience that I do better with low rgs and milder shells if necessary, so I shouldn't have been surprised.  I won't give up on this ball right away however.  I think it might
have some potential where I have to play more direct from outside angles.

Mixed local reviews spurred me to place a review on this one.  I can finally throw a Brunswick ball (notorious for hook at your feet).  The High RG core with particle coverstock works very well together for my game.  Mine is drilled with pin at 12:00 centered and cg slightly kicked out.  The core dynamics keeps the cover at bay until just beyond midlane then transfers the energy to the cover for a strong arcing finish through the pins.  The hitting power is strong but when the oil goes so too does the power.  This one is ideal on fresh patterns when you want to play down the boards to clean back ends.  I have experimented with different releases and found that the more you circle it you lose the benefits of the core (motor) which you need to keep this one readable.  Keep your release consistant.  Enjoy the confidence this one creates, but know when to bag it.

I used this ball during some jackpot bowling on 5/8/02 at Southwyck Lanes in Toledo, OH.  Using pattern 3E on Brunswick High-Differential Drilling Sheet (2" from PAP, CG near grip center), the Fuze Proactive Navy Sparkle is a radical departure from the heavy-rolling, hard-hooking Zones of the Nineties.  It is clean through the front, even on a slightly broken lane.  The roll on this ball is also very clean, and the hit is explosive.  What I like most is the head-to-head predictability with regard to the roll (thanks to the higher RG) and breakpoint (thanks to the XLP-Proactive).

The condition was a forty-foot Sport pattern.  I played the middle arrow, standing on third arrow from the left side.  When the speed was there, hugging the center was no problem.  If I missed right, the ball would hang a bit and hit light.

I won $85 with games of 223, 224, and 217...  My best game to date with this Fuze is 255, and I intend to raise that ante with this great Proactive from Brunswick!

Used this ball in a head to head match on a pair that was 5 boards wider and the other guy throwing a Dynamo.  It hooked lots, but the guy crushed, therefore this is the worst ball ever.
