Continuing the success of the Vintage Vapor Zone Brunswick is introducing the Vapor Zone Solid to handle heavier oil conditions. This ball uses the same Zone Asymmetric core used in the previous version along with the solid version of the Activator Plus 2.0 coverstock. The Vapor Zone Solid is finished with 500, 2000 Siaair that gives the ball great traction on medium to heavy oil conditions.

The Vapor Zone Solid is a OMG ball. This ball is so much more aggressive downlane and more angular than the Vintage Vapor Zone. If you loved the Vintage Vapor Zone and wanna add more downlane motion, bowlers must add a Vapor Zone Solid in your arsenal, you will not be disappointed I promise

The Vapor Zone Solid is an outstanding, aggressive complement to the Vintage Vapor Zone pearl. This ball really picks up and turns the corner hard on medium to heavy oil patterns. If you have any concerns on high volume patterns of throwing the ball through the breakpoint, or for any speed-dominant player, this ball is a strong choice to consider.

I have mine drilled pin over ring finger and as a slow to medium speed player I have no issues getting the ball down lane and then watching it "bite" at just the right time to turn the corner. I will say this in all honesty, at the out of box finish this ball needs head oil, definitely not a good choice for later in the session when transition has caused the heads to burn a bit. In those situations, the Vapor pearl is a perfect alternative.

If you threw the Vapor Zone back in the day or got the Vapor Zone Pearl last year, the solid is a must! I tend to like solids more than pearls or hybrids simply because they are more predictable for me and my ball roll. What I like most about the new Vapor Zone Solid is how much it picks up on the backend of the lane. This ball looks like it revs up on the backend and makes a consistent and predictable charge to the pocket. Give this ball some room because it will make a turn for you. When you need a little more angle or bowling on heavier patterns, this is a great ball to have in your arsenal.

Laid out my Vapor Zone Solid 40x4.75x75 (pin below bridge) with the idea of replacing my tired Tremendous and giving myself another option to control the break point on fresh oil.

Out of the box the Vapor Zone Solid was very even and controllable. It revved up easily, gave me sufficient traction for medium/heavy volumes and was not nearly as violent off the back end as most other asyms in my bag. I would consider this ball an 8/10 for hook and traction with an average response to friction. The reaction is not meant to be head turning and violent, but easy to control which leads to good scores.

So far I have used the Vapor Zone Solid on a few different patterns but my best look has been in our Challenge league on one of Kegel's new patterns - Mercury. Mercury is a fairly high volume 40' stepped pattern with some strong back ends on the fresh. The Vapor Zone Solid + my high tilt roll and above average speed/revs made this pattern look like a house shot as I was able to play just inside the track and play a soft swing to the 7-8 boards. The dull surface got the ball to traction early enough to read the help right, while I also had lots of control at the end of the pattern. As the lanes transitioned I was able to adjust my hand position and work my way left, but by the third game of league it becomes time to get into something cleaner and more responsive (Prowler has usually been the ball of choice).

Compared to other balls I have thrown recently, the Vapor Zone Solid is a step smoother in shape but comparable in hook to my Tremendous and Ludicrous Solid, but a little stronger than my pin down Method Solid. The Vapor Zone Solid cannot quite handle as much volume as the Tenacity Grit or Kingpin Max, but is one up from my scuffed pin down Creed. My Pearl Vapor Zone is laid out much differently (70x5x35) so it is difficult to compare the 2 without factoring in the drilling. The shapes of the 2 balls are drastically different with completely different surfaces but I am glad to report that I like both balls despite how they fit on opposing ends of my bag. They compliment each other and I am considering drilling another pin up Solid to split the difference between the 2 balls.

I see the Vapor Zone solid as best suited for Medium/Heavy volumes and moderate lengths making it a very safe first ball out of the bag. A Vapor Zone Solid + a medium pearl ball would make a great 1-2 punch for league purposes for most bowlers.

The Vintage Vapor Zone was one of my favorites and this one builds on its success. The Vapor Zone Solid is a stronger version of the Vintage Vapor Zone with a similar shape. This one is much better on fresher lane conditions. It handles oil well while giving you that sharper shape you saw out of the other Vapor Zone. I like this one for opening my angles from inside on slicker house shots. It also works well on Heavier oil volumes when my Kingpin Rule is too much. In short, if you enjoyed the shape of the Vapor Zone and want a stronger compliment this is your ball.

Likes: This ball was to be a little less than my Hammer Statement Solid with still having a strong midlane read to it. It literally is just that!! I didn't have to move when I balled down, I just stayed in the same spot an it read the lane beautifully.

This ball should definitely be in your bag - You wont be disappointed.
