Description: The Lethal Revolver maximizes its performance by using Propel X Solid reactive coverstock technology. Propel X Solid features an enhanced pore structure to provide Xtra consistency from shot to shot and Xtra workability on a wider variety of lane conditions.
CORE - The Jack core was designed as a low RG symmetric core with a high differential. The low RG engages in the mid-lane assisting in ball motion, and the high differential increases track flare potential giving the ball more opportunity to grip the backend while using standard layouts.
BALL MOTION - The Jack™ core was designed as a low RG symmetric core with a high differential. The low RG engages in the mid-lane assisting in ball motion, and the high differential increases track flare potential giving the ball more opportunity to grip the backend while using standard layouts.
REACTION SETUP - The Lethal Revolver can be drilled using the standard drilling techniques developed for symmetric bowling balls.
LIGHTWEIGHT ENGINEERING - At Brunswick, the unique core shape of each individual ball is used for weights from 14 to 16 pounds. This approach to lightweight ball engineering provides bowlers with consistent ball reaction characteristics across this weight range. At 12 and 13 pounds, Brunswick uses a generic core shape with a RG-differential that is close enough to the 14 to 16 pound shape so the same drilling instructions can be used.

The third in the revolver series comes exactly as advertised.  It fits perfectly in between it's two predecessors.  For me it is 4 and 3 stronger than a loaded, and 3 and 2 weeker than the first Revolver.  I really like that this solid Revolver still continues after is makes it's move down the lane where the original Purple Revolver was much more of a hook stop reaction.  I generally used the Revolvers as a Bench Mark Ball, and now have three to pick from to start out with depending on lenth volume, etc.  Again, this is a great starter ball, but as the lanes transiton and the front dries up, and the mid and back of the lane tighten up it's probalbly a good time to put it back in the bag and go with another Brunswick Ball.

Likes: PROPEL X SOLID COVER

Dislikes: none

This one is drilled 70 x 4.5 x 40. The Intent with this layout was to get the ball through the fronts and be smooth off the spot.

I was very excited for this ball. I love the Wicked and love the Loaded. With the Propel X Solid cover I knew the Lethal would get through the fronts and be smoother and stronger than the Loaded.  What I got was exactly what I was looking for. The cover gets the ball through the fronts and the core keeps the ball from going through the hook spot. I will be able to use ball both on shorter patterns to control the back part of the lane and on the longer/heavier patterns as well. This ball fits right in between the Revolver and the Loaded just as advertised.

Likes: Versatility period.  This ball will play on any medium pattern with at least some volume.

Dislikes: None really...the Lethal plays well in all the conditions it was designed for.

The Lethal Revolver is my favorite of all the newest Brunswick releases.  As long as the oil in the midlane holds up this ball will be around the pocket.  It reminds me of a very popular resent remake by one of our competitors.  This ball reads the pattern true everytime and with surface adjustments will roll great for almost any style of player.  This ball is not flashy or super angular but it is the type of ball that scores period!  It also sneaky strong.  I tried this ball briefly on a few higher volume sport patterns that I haven't listed above when only the Alpha Max would hook and wouldn't hook much.  The thing that surprised me was that this ball would make the corner every time even if it didn't move a lot.  Even with the late breakpoint it mixed the pins and struck on most of the pocket hits.  It is not the oil monster the Alpha Max is but don't let the smooth breakpoint fool yah it will hook!  If your looking for a do it all everyday readable benchmark ball this ball is for you. Do yourself a favor and Kill your competitions hopes with the Lethal Revolver!!!!

Dislikes: NONE

This one is drilled 45x5.5x30 with a hole up on the VAL.  This is my favorite of the new releases.

The Lethal gives a predictable motion with the strength of a solid cover. This ball is little stronger than the Loaded but with a smoother ball motion. I have used this ball on all knid of lengths and volumes with success. I can start with this ball and move as the pattern breaks down. If I have to get to deep for this ball I can simply change to a Loaded and stay in the same zone. If you like the Loaded or even the Wicked Siege and you are looking for a little more ball, then get the Lethal Revolver. you will not be dissapointed.

LANE CONDITION

Length: estimated 39'

Volume: medium

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc): High Roller Saturday Sweeper @ Sam's Town

BALL REACTION

Length:  This ball tends to pick up fairly strongly in the mid lane.  You can get a little more length out of it by altering your release, but this is not a 'go long and flip' ball.

Back End:  Since the ball picks up pretty strongly midlane, the backend is not extremely strong, but it is continuous.  Unless you biff the release, the ball finishes very strongly.

Overall Hook:  On a scale of 1-10, I would give this ball a 7.5 as far as overall hook with the surface I threw it with.  It is definitely not weak, and you could certainly get more movement out of it with a different surface choice, but I think that unless you have very little hand, much additional surface might make the ball motion undesirable, unless you are on a flood.

Midlane Read:  Predicatable.  You have to really, really try to throw it through the breakpoint.

Breakpoint Shape:  Arc

COMMENTS

Likes: The ball is very predictable and continuous.  If I miss a bit with the speed, hand, or placement, as long as I get pretty close to the hole, the ball kicks out the corners, which I typically the measuring stick I use the determine a good ball.

Dislikes: You have to know when to put this ball back in the bag and switch to something with more length, if the pattern calls for it.

Lethal Revolver

Layout: Pin to the right of the ring finger, CG under the ring 3” pin.

No hole needed.

Pin to PAP is 3 1/4", CG to PAP 3 1/2"

Testing Pattern: THS (40ft, 19ml)

Reaction: Using the out of box surface on a burnt THS the ball wanted to read early and burn too quick. Took the ball back into the shop and put a light Brunswick Factory Polish on the shell and immediately saw the reaction improve.  The ball could now make it through the burnt heads and have that strong arcing reaction I have seen out of the Revolver series. Moving to a fresh THS, with the polish still on the ball, the reaction was very good. The polish did not impede on the balls ability to read the lane and the finish was strong. Removing the polish and taking the ball back to factory allowed me to move deeper on the fresh THS. The carry was great with both finishes on the cover.

Overall: This is a very strong ball. When using my Loaded Revolver as a benchmark ball I had to move 6 left with my feet and 3 with my eyes to catch enough oil. The Lethal will be a great league ball for those that don’t have a substantial amount of hand or with a little surface change it can be used by anyone. This ball will look very good on longer patterns.

Brunswick is also offering $40 Cash Back on this ball so in the words of Charlie Sheen..."WINNING!"

My Lethal Revolver is drilled with a 50 X 5 1/2 X 60 layout.  Thanks to Xclusive Pro Shop Owner and Operator Doug Morton for punching it out.

For my game, this ball is the first ball out of the bag on heavy oil situations.  With this layout, it's designed to rev early, and give me a very strong, half moon type of reaction on heavy oil.  My Loaded Revolver is drilled very similarly and should serve as a good step down from this ball when its carves a spot in the oil.

I used this ball in multiple practice sessions at Center Bowl in Anchorage, Alaska on the 2011 USBC Open Championships pattern.  The pattern is 41 feet long, but the characteristics of the house tend to make patterns play a foot or two longer.

When Doug came up with this layout idea for my game, I was immediately hesitant.  I do not have anything like this in my bag that revs up this early and have struggled to adapt to balls with similar layouts.  Due to my heavy ball roll, surface and low pins do not typically find a home in my bag.  But, after only a few shots with this ball on the fresh, I couldn't agree with Doug's decision more.

The ball is a hook monster for me.  It carved through the oil and created such a picturesque reaction, that even when the heads started to burn up, I found myself moving left to continue throwing this ball instead of going to a less aggressive ball and playing close to the same spot.  What really impressed me the most, is that the ball, just continues turning for what seems like the entire lane.  With some head oil, this ball was clean for the first 15 feet and then began it's mellow, arc back to the pocket with"Lethal" power.  As the head oil disapated, it was important to continue moving left to find the head oil.  I threw many shots with this ball from 4th and 5th arrow and maintained suprising striking power.

As this ball became too aggressive for the lanes, I was able to step down into my Alpha-Max and my Massive Damage to continue playing in the same parts of the lane and striking.  The buddy I practice will throws nothing but Storm and Roto and after I made the lanes look a little too easy with the Lethal, Massive, and Ulti-Max I had just had drilled, he was considering adding these Brunswick pieces to his arsenal.  Hard to beat the rebate program associated with these balls and the fact that they are high quality and high performance.

This ball is really good for playing deeper lines with my higher rev rate and still have enough on the backend to finish strong.  Just like the original Revolver and Loaded Revolver, the Lethal Revolver this ball has a smooth arcing motion with additional continuation through the pins.  The Propel X Solid coverstock with the box surface does well on medium oil lane conditions.  This ball would be a good 1st ball out of the bag, aka benchmark, on house conditions as well as sport conditions.  The Lethal fits between the original and Loaded as advertised.  Another great ball in the Revolver lineup, plus there is a $40 rebate on this cool looking red ball.

Ball: Brunswick Lethal Revolver

Layout:

Pin 5” from PAP, above ring finger

CG on midline, ¾” to right of grip center

No XH

Initial Surface Preparation:

Box finish

Purpose:

I must admit that I’ve been waiting for a ball that would give me a look that is similar to that of the Loaded Revolver, but that can handle conditions with more volume.  The Loaded has been great for me when I’ve needed to control the reaction off of the dry, such as mediums and drier mediums with a defined area of friction to the outside, or shorter patterns where I need to tame down the back end.  I have a Revolver that I’ve used in this spot in the arsenal, but it has a tendency to read the friction too strong to let me play more direct lines.

Observations:

In order to compare the reaction of the Lethal Revolver to that of the Loaded Revolver, I wanted to use the same layout, with the pin 5” from PAP, above the fingers.  I thus chose a Lethal with a 4” pin-to-CG distance.

I’ve had the opportunity to use the Lethal Revolver on conditions that have varied from wet-dry house walls to flatter Kegel patterns.  Because of the warmer Summer weather, the house conditions I’ve seen have had quite a bit of friction.  On these shots, the Lethal has been just too strong overall when I try to use my normal release.  However, I’ve been able to make a favorable ball reaction in one of two ways.  If there is a decent amount of volume to the inside, I can move further left, soften up the speed, and go more from the oil into the dry.  I had expected to lose some hit by doing this, but the Lethal remained continuous through the pin deck as I moved to the left.  For the patterns that are playing more blended, I’ve been able to tighten up the trajectory through the front part of the lane, and fall the ball back off of the oil line.  The Lethal is clean enough through the front part of the lane to where it won’t burn up before it reaches the end of the pattern.

On the flatter patterns, and from deeper inside lines, I can increase my speed and go to a release that gives me more forward roll, so that I don’t give away too much of the pocket, I can stay with the Lethal on these patterns as long as there is enough volume in the front part of the lane to keep the ball on line through the front, and even when moving deeper inside, the Lethal continues well through the pins.

For me, the Lethal has been anywhere from four-and-two to seven-and-four stronger than the Loaded Revolver, and two-and-one to three-and-two stronger than the Revolver.  The difference has been larger for me on the flatter patterns, mainly due to there being less volume to the inside to hold the ball on line.

Conclusions:

When I first took the Lethal Revolver out of the box, and saw the factory surface preparation, I was afraid that it give me more hook than I was seeking.  So far, I haven’t been disappointed by the amount of overall hook, but I have been surprised at just how strong this ball is at the pin deck.  The Lethal will roll more through the midlane than the Revolver, but it will be continuous down lane without over-reading the dry.

I’m now looking forward to the start of tournament season, and being able to use this ball on more volume.  I see the Lethal as being the ball that I’ll be using when the bench pieces aren’t quite giving me enough reaction, and I need to get the ball to start up quicker and still have some strength down the lane.  I also see the Lethal as a good complement to the Wicked Siege or C-(System) alpha-max for higher volumes.  I’ll use the Lethal when I want to play a more direct line from front to back, and one of the asymmetricals when I want to open up the midlane.

Tweener, 325rpm, 16.5mph, PAP = 4 3/4" over, 5/8" up

I went away to Toronto 2 weeks ago for a tourney and the synthetics were 20 years old, thus very beat up.  To protect that surface, the house put a ridiculous amount of oil out in the heads and was putting extra oil out because there was going to be 12 games bowled each day, so I needed a ball that could whack this thick, but mid length pattern by giving me both strong traction in the midlane to read the pattern and still give me a strong arcy backend to throw some pins around.  I went with the pin 5.25" from the PAP (above the bridge) and the cg kicked out about an inch on a 3" pin ball.

Out of the box the ball laboured.  At 2000 it almost had enough friction, but just wouldn't quite turn over if I got into the puddle and it didn't quite flare enough to allow me the recovery off of the wall that I should have had.  I had a Wicked at 2000 with a similar pin position, but an xhole near my PAP which flared a bit more and actually looked better so it gave me an idea.

We added a 7/8" xhole just past my PAP and took the ball down to 1000.  This made the ball hook about 3 boards more and a couple feet sooner, giving me all of the continuation and actually MORE backend than at 2000 because the ball was doing zero skidding toward the end of the oil.  I led the tournament by almost 400 pins because the Lethal created so much traction in the oil that I was able to get inside everybody else for some extra hold and its texture gave me room front to back for by far the best carry in the building.

As I have experienced with the other 2 balls in the Revolver series, my best reactions were when the balls were set up with aggressive layouts and dull surfaces.  This is the strongest ball in my bag and to compare it to anything released recently, I would say it is 3-4 feet earlier and a good 5 boards more than the loaded at the same surface.  I would compare this ball to the Wild Card (which I hold in very high regard) but with a little more flare and finish to help you kick those corners out if you elect to move in on medium-heavy to heavy oil conditions.

Wow….this ball just flat out hooks….the whole lane. Flat ten? Never heard of it. This ball truly gets me excited to bowl on heavier conditions. This thing could put ball returns out of business. I am pretty sure if the lane were wide enough, it’d go full circle and come back to me.

I decided on this layout simply because its one of my favorites. It allows the ball to do what it wants, yet the longer pin helps it avoid working too much too soon. It gives a nice smooth reaction across the whole lane. It just does what it’s intended to do. It hooks, it’s predictable,  and its priced great. There really isn’t much else to say. Everybody has a spot in their bag for this reaction, so go out and get one!

I used the dual angle layout of 60deg x 3-1/2" x 75deg with a weight hole in the P-3 location! I can use this ball on the fresh Stone Street condition and I also used it in a tournament and played very deep standing 30 with my feet and crossing 20 at the arrows. The lanes had 10 games with no reoil and it was still able to get down the lane with easy and have the energy to turn the corner. A great medium to medium/heavy oil ball that you can play from different angles and still maintain carry! Love the reaction and the color is a big hit for me as well!!! Great job from the Big B!! Just my $.02, Bruce

Likes:Easy length, great midlane read and strong arc finish! Very readable and playable on the fresh condition.

Dislikes: Didn't drill two of them!!!!

Train a child up in the way they should go and when they are old they will do some "Damn Good Bowling", be a "DV8" and not turn from it, besides bowling starts with a Big B!
