What can I say about the Mastermind Intellect that it doesn't already say for itself! This ball is a monster right out of the bag and stays that way! Honestly, using it, first set out of the box was a 797! Drilled fairly aggressive, that ball doesn't quit.
This ball also gets through the front really clean, and retains the back end motion to get through the pins. Throwing this ball gives the bowler a lot of confidence in their game because you know what this ball will do. Typically, this will be my No. 1 out of the bag, but like I wrote in a previous post, I may tend to go the way of the Fortera Intrigue. You really can't go wrong with either on the fresh oil.

Likes: This ball is incredibly versatile.  I drilled up two of them, and love the reaction and confidence these balls give me.

My first ball I drilled was (45 x 4/12 x 40)- I dropped the pin closer to my center of grip to keep this ball rolling smooth and predictable.  I altered the cover to 1000 grit and was able to really have an unbelievable reaction on a longer oil pattern.  I was able to keep the ball tight, and when it cleared the pattern the ball picked up right away and drove through the pin deck.  Other bowlers were trying to get their balls to hook, but could not do what this ball was doing.  This is an amazing cover and drilling combination to use with this ball on heavy oil.

The second ball I drilled was (70 x 5 x 30).  I left the cover alone, and allowed it to acquire some lane shine.  I recently used it on a modified blue pattern that played very difficult.  In the doubles tournament the cut to make it for the team was +56 for 4 games.  I was able to use this ball playing fairly deep with a moderate rev rate.  I was +90 for 4 games.  I was able to open up the lane, and swing the ball to the right.  The ball has amazing recovery and is very strong.  I also used this drilling on long oil pattern where most bowlers tried to play up the corner and point there ball.  Typical bowling knowledge -31 philosophy tells you to play more to the middle of the lane; but I also stayed outside and have reaction where a lot of bowlers struggled to get it.  The ball is heavy rolling, hard arcing ball that destroys pins.  Its amazing, but as a competitive bowler what I love about it, is its ability to be incredibly versatile on the lanes.

Mastermind Intellect 50 x 4.5 x 35
Route 66, 45' long

The Intellect surprised me with how clean it is through the heads and yet has such an aggressive hook into the pocket. I added a little surface with a 2000 pad because the ball has excellent length. I really like this layout for the Intellect. It reads the oil pattern well and gets through the pins. This ball is definitely a first choice on longer/heavier oil patterns.

LANE CONDITION

Length:41

Volume:Med - Hvy

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc):Very Poor House Condition

Likes:Drilled up The Intellect to combat a very poor house shot where lack of proper stripping methods are used, drilled this ball to create some mid-lane energy while still retaining the power and angular characteristics to hit the pocket with carry. I used a 35x4.5x30  layout with an x hole. This layout and ball has exceeded all my expectations and then some. Have had other players in my leagues purchase this ball based on my personal success I have had with it, an outstanding addition to my already awesome arsenal of Brunswick Bowling Balls

Likes: Extremely strong off the spot, good push through the front, good when the backends are getting weak

Dislikes: Hard for me to throw on the fresh due to the huge backend move.

The more I've gotten to throw the Intellect the more I'm loving it! I knew from my very first practice balls that this thing was going to be a lot of fun to throw because it is hella strong down lane; however, in the early going, I was having trouble finding a good time to throw it because it was just so strong that it was tough to control the backend. I found myself leaving a lot of 4's, 7's, 4-9's, and designer splits.

However, as I've put more games on it, I've figured out that I can use it when either my original Mastermind or Genius is having trouble making the corner. The original Mastermind is an amazing ball, but its strength sometimes causes it to lose a little bit of pop if I'm trying to go too far inside. The Genius is a great benchmark piece, but once I really have to get left, it struggles to get the corners out. That's where the Intellect comes in. The Intellect is much cleaner through the front and much more explosive down lane than either the original or Genius, so it's great for avoiding drying heads and/or chewing through carrydown. The great thing about the Intellect is that I know I have more miss room from inside than I do with Melee Jab, which can sometimes hit a little bit flat if I miss inside the oil. The Intellect NEVER hits flat; it just keeps on coming!

I've loved each of the Mastermind balls that I've thrown, and the Intellect is no different. If you need big ball motion, look no further; this ball offers as much HOOK as any solid I've ever thrown.

The Brunswick MasterMind Intellect features the same weight block as the previous releases along with the new Honor Roll A+ solid reactive cover.

45 x 4 1/2 x 70...pin under ring finger with low WH on VAL line

Honestly speaking, when I first threw this release, I did not like it with the OOB finish. I am a 15 MPH bowler and that just did not work for me. After about a month of subpar performances, I decided to take the cover all the way up to 4000 grit and add slip agent polish---similar to my MasterMind Genius that I bowled 300 with....WHAT A DIFFERENCE....In the next 2 weeks I bowled 3 700 series, the highest being 771---WITH 3 OPEN FRAMES...

This ball is easily my go to ball when I can't get any pop on the back end or just want to see a quicker movement off the spot without loss of control. Once again another winner from Brunswick.

Brunswick Melee Jab-
Layout-50x4-3/8x55
PAP 5-5/8 right and 1-1/8 up
Rev Rate- 425
Ball Speed- 17.5

The Melee Jab by Brunswick is one of the best back ending balls I’ve had the pleasure of throwing. This ball is unbelievable clean and just so smooth off the spot it’s not fair. Later in the night when the heads get a little choppy, this ball is a must. Every time I grab this ball, I throw it one time, and it’s so easy to get lined up. This ball is clean and so smooth, but yet has so much off the spot. This ball shreds racks and carries so shots that should have no chance. This ball is a game changer; do not miss out on this piece.
