I drilled this gem with a 60x6x70. I needed a compliment to my Rattler with a 2 1/4 pin. This fits the bill great. This ball is similar to the old pearl. I feel it is a little flippier then the old. I thew it on THS and I could get in some and the ball would still corner great with good carry. I do have alot of hand so my reaction is far different than the average rev rate. this ball will need dry boards to react properly. A great addition to any tournament bowler's arsenal.

On bowlingball.com they have a Mika K. layout and thats how I had this drilled up.  Wow what an amazing ball and drill pattern. I have about 8 games on it and already shot a 299,300 back to back (in practice) but, I just got done bowling on this pair in league that night so they had some games on them.  

 It goes real long then BAM it crushes the pocket. It hits a lot harder than I expected and the overall hook is way more than I was expecting for a light bulb core and a low end ball. I truelly believe this will be one of the best low end balls of the year, IMAO.

I have the “old” Avalanche Pearl (White/Blue) with a more extreme layout since the pin is further from my axis and the VAL angle is closer to 25-30 degrees. The Av. Pearl B/G is a very nice connection between my Av. Pearl W/B and the rest of my arsenal. It has the length I needed and a smoother response to the friction than the previous pearl. Don’t get me wrong, it has an angular backend, but not as much as the other Av. Pearl W/B due to the layout.

On the fresh I played a line with a laydown of 10 out to about 8-9 at the breakpoint with great results. If I got it outside early, the weaker layout allowed the ball to skid a little more instead of picking up early and going through the nose. Likewise, if I tugged it inside a little, the weaker layout combined with the cover allowed for more distance for the ball to transition when going through the inside of the THS, resulting in a good amount of hold area without lacking carry.

Like the other balls in the series, I’ve found it to be able to play almost any angle on THS with release and speed changes and I never saw the carry suffer. I plan to test this out on viper later on.

The Avalanche Pearl B/G is officially the first ball out of my bag whenever I’m bowling on THS. It has easy length, good backend movement, and has just the right amount of response on the dry boards created by the pattern or by transition. I feel like this ball could easily be a benchmark ball for those with higher rev rates and/or those bowling on conditions with lighter oil.

Brunswick Avalanche Black/Green

I drilled this ball specifically for a tournament in Minot, North Dakota (The Fisher Motors Shootout).  Their lane surface is new guardian and the lane pattern was Off the Beaten Path, part of the Kegel Challenge Series.  This pattern on guardian surface, hooks so much and burns up so quick.  If I did not have this ball I would not have made the finals.

I'll start by saying that this ball may read the lane better than any pearl I've had. It is very smooth and predictable and I have yet to see it under or over react. It clears the fronts with ease and retains energy whether you are playing up the boards or inside of 6th arrow!

If you are bowling on a THS, shorter oil patterns, or need something late in the day I highly recommend having this ball in your bag.

I drilled my Avalanche Pearl to combat drier lane conditions.
This ball has been a great addition to my arsenal. If the heads begin to dry up I can still get this piece down lane yet not squirt right through the break point.
I find this ball most useful when I need to attack a dry condition. It allows me to control areas of the lane that many weaker balls simply want to overreact to. When other players are watching their equipment get through the heads then look as if someone kicked them uncontrollably to the left or right, I am able to keep the Avalanche in play shot after shot.
Every competitive player should have a ball like this in their bag. This ball will keep you in play when the lanes burn up and the scoring pace goes down.

This ball was a lot stronger than I expected, providing great length and a very strong backend.  I found it particularly effective on burnt out lanes going sideways through the pattern when everything else was hooking early.

This ball was drilled primarily to play parallel to the lane on burnt up patterns.  It was really effective at Canadian nationals on the Stockhold pattern (low volume 34') on a really old wood surface.  This ball has also been useful on some drier house patterns where I can play the oil line.  Honestly my favourite ball in the bag!
