I drilled Aura Paranormal with the pin under 65*x4.5x65* no extra hole needed. I took mine up to 4000 since my area is normally med/dry.  I bowled 1 game of practice and it was necessary to shine it but I was still impressed with the way it cleared the front, it just over-read the midlane a little.  With the shine it was tremendous - very clean, didn't read the midlane too quickly and had a hard arcing continuous roll on the backend.  Zero deflection through the pins gave me awesome carry, enough for 811 first set out.  This ball gave me the ability to chase the pattern in and not get that skid-flippy transition so the roll type remained consistent.

This ball will be good out of the box for speed dominant players or any one needing extra motion on heavy oil.  If shined it can be a versatile med/wet ball.  This will see plenty of play for me on fresh patterns with closed launch angles plus it will have awesome recovery when I need to open up my launch angles.  It's around 4 & 2 stronger than my Aura drilled similarly.  All in all an excellent heavy oil beast.

COMMENTS

Bowling in an area where head oil and crisp backends is similar to trying to find a needle in a haystack, strong balls tend to collect a little dust. So with the Aura Paranormal, I opted for a little different layout to allow for a little more use.

On a slick-playing 41’ USBC White pattern, this ball actually opened the lane up for me.  On this particular pattern at this particular house, I tend to need to play a little more direct in order to get most balls to finish. The Aura Paranormal allowed me to start roughly 6-8 boards deeper with my feet and gave a surprising amount of recovery when I missed a few right. I can honestly say this is the first ball to have ever given me an honor score straight off the drill press.

In addition to giving me some room on the slicker stuff, I was able to chase the oil left with this ball to a point between 4th and 5th arrow where I finished league for the night without sacrificing my angles. With a layout like this, the ball is definitely more useable for me. I imagine if I opted for a stronger drill angle or higher flaring pin position, this ball would not work on most typical house conditions, and would be best suited for longer and/or heavier patterns.
As a huge fan of the original Nexus, I feel this ball is right there with it, but with a more continuous motion and a little more versatility. The motion of the Aura series is, for me, the big backend reaction of the Nexus series, but with the added benefit of predictability and control. You can’t really ask for much more than that.

Likes:The first thing I thought when I saw this ball was man does it flare.  A little over a year ago, I was wowed with the original Nexus solid.  This ball is on the same track.  It needs a little more volume than the Nexus, as for me it is not as easy, however on the extra volume, it still has a great response at the breakpoint and continues really well through the pins.  When the lanes breakdown, just move left.  Going left to right more doesn't cause this ball to burn up.  As long as there is a good bit of oil, it will get down the lane.  It is always good to have a ball still snap 10's out when you have to open up your angles.

Dislikes:None yet, however totally burnt heads probably won't be this balls best friend.

Likes:Layout is 45 X 5 X 70.

This ball has a very similar motion as the original Aura, long and angular. However, I was 5 boards further left with this ball than the original Aura. Simply put, this ball is a beast.

Dislikes:None yet, however, if not enough volume on the lane, very hard to control. This ball chews oil like no other...

The Aura Paranormal is the strongest ball I have thrown to date.  Not only is it the strongest piece, it continues to redefine ball motion in the Brunswick line. The Aura was previously Brunswick's strongest ball down lane in oilier lane conditions.  This release hooks earlier than the Aura while retaining nearly the same move at the end of the pattern.  This ball is CONTINUOUS!  Once it begins its transitional move it doesn't quit.  It is not designed for use on average house conditions.  This ball was clean through the heads but still had too much hook for our house shot.  I had to put it away after a few frames as I ran out of lane.  Fifth arrow is simply too far left on the fresh and the new Meanstreak Brawler and Meanstreak are better options for me.  The Paranormal didn't quit but it definitely over hooked.  On the fresh Shark pattern the ball was perfect and gave me several more boards of recovery than the Aura.  It also allowed me to be firmer and throw the ball with more confidence knowing that the recovery would be there and the ball would carry if it went light mixer.  This will be my go to ball when volumes are higher. I look forward to drilling a stronger one to see if I can open them up even more on oilier condition.  If you need help hooking the ball on oilier conditions or you are just looking for a board covering machine The Aura Paranormal is the ball for the job.

The Paranormal Aura is the newest addition the the Pro Performance line. The PA is a solid and is very strong. It is the strongest ball to date.
I have to admit, i was a little skeptical of this realease. I have never had a ball that was really strong that was clean and had great continuation through the pins. Well, this is a first.

My first one is drilled 65x5x80 with a hole 2.5" down on the VAL. I can use this ball in multiple ways. I can go straighter and I can hook it. I can chase the oil left as far as I want or until I run out of lane. This ball just continues to keep coming. I can get farther left and throw it farther right than any ball I have ever thrown. When compared to a 45x4.75x70 Aura, it is about 5 boards more hook, just as clean and about 1ft sooner.

My second one is drilled 45x4.5x45 no hole. I wanted this one for the longer and heavier patterns. This ball will be great for this. I will be able to use this on the fresh and then as it breaksdown I can chase the oil left. I really can't compare this to any other ball. This is the first time I drilled a ball like this that was this strong of a ball. What I can tell you that it is surprisingly clean through the fronts.

I am amazed at how much this ball hooks with continuation through the pins. If you need a new heavy oil ball or your house shot is tighter this is the ball for you.

Ball Surface:  4000 Abralon
Layout used:  70 x 5 x 65 Pin under middle finger cg kicked small hole near thumb

How did the ball roll & react:  The first thing I noticed was how strong and smooth this ball is.  What stood out the most was how easy the ball got down lane and stored energy.  Out of the box was a little too much for me, so I smoothed it out with 4000.  On the fresh I was able stay further left and stay up the back but later on it had no problem moving in and getting around it.  Extremely versatile for a high end ball.

Did you compare this ball to another ball? If so which one:   Comparing it to the original Aura, the Paranormal is about 5 stronger with a quicker response to friction.  Both are very smooth, but there is absolutely no quit with the Paranormal.

Strengths & weakness’s of the ball:   The strength is how controllable it is in the midlane making the backend motion very predictable.  It doesn’t go sideways downlane like a lot of higher end balls, which is great for me and my rev rate.

Bowler’s Stats:
Right handed
18.5 mph
450 rpm
7 degree tilt
35-45 degree rotation

Layout:
45 by 4.5” by 55
No hole
OOB Surface

Purpose:
For me the original Aura is amazing on almost any condition with medium volume and medium to longer lengths. Although it still provided a good reaction on the heavy/long conditions, I wanted the Aura Paranormal to be able to just motor through the soup. Thus, the layout for the Paranormal is slightly stronger than my original.

On the lanes:
I’ve thrown the Aura Paranormal on both my fresh medium volume 39” house shot and 41” WTBA Montreal. Lanes are Brunswick Pro-Anvils.

On the house shot, I admittedly didn’t plan on even throwing this ball at all. Its cover is 2000 grit, I have low tilt, and the pattern is only about 20mL total oil. I thought there was no way this ball would get far enough downlane to look like a good option. Playing around in practice, I picked it up and took a big step left. My very first shot with this ball crossed the arrows at 23, leaked further right than planned out to 5, flipped up and absolutely ran over the 8 pin.  Even though I now know otherwise, it’s hard to get away from the preconception that a dull ball can’t get downlane and flip. I never thought I’d say that a dull ball offers an equally good reaction in this house as weaker equipment does. I stayed with the Paranormal Aura until the middle of the 3rd game when I finally had to ball down. On this house shot, the Paranormal Aura is 4 boards stronger for me than the original Aura. All of this comes from the strong Optimum-Hook cover reading the lane a touch sooner and stronger than the Optimum-Flip cover of the original. Even with the dull cover, it has no problem recovering back from shots missed right of target.

On WTBA Montreal (41’, 27.55mL), I knew this ball would get plenty of action. I was bowling a small local sweeper and was confident going in that the Paranormal Aura would give me a look that no one else could match. I started the 4 game qualifying crossing 19 at the arrows and targeting 9 at 41’. During practice I threw the original Aura for comparison and found it to require a 6 board move right with my feet to use the same breakpoint. Based on this and the THS comparison, regardless of condition, the Paranormal Aura is at least 3-4 boards stronger than the original on medium volume patterns and at most 5-6 boards stronger than the original on the very heavy patterns. During the 4 games of qualifying, I only had to move 5 boards in with my feet and move my breakpoint in 1 board. Since people were throwing heavily sanded balls to combat the lack of frictions, the ease of getting the ball downlane became more important throughout the night. Nonetheless, for the last 2 games of the finals, it became too burnt and I jumped right 5 boards with my feet, pulled out the original Aura, kept my breakpoint target at 10, and went on to win the sweeper. The way the Aura Paranormal dug through the end of the pattern gave me a ton of confidence with my ball roll despite some user error occurring that night.

Overall:
The Aura Paranormal is a terrific compliment to the original Aura. It’s almost just as clean down lane despite having a 2000 grit cover and flips more than I have ever seen a dull ball flip. What this does for my game is to allow me to get the ball further downlane and flip without sacrificing the predictability of the spot that can sometimes come with polished equipment.  For speed and rev matched players, you will see the most versatility out of this ball. Heavy handed players will still see plenty of push downlane before flipping up to the pocket. Those with less revs or higher speed who play further outside get the benefit of the strong cover and core doing all the work for you in checking up and sending pins flying while the push through the fronts doesn’t trap you into having to move in more than what you’re comfortable with. I’ve had plenty of success with the original Aura and I can’t wait to rival that success with the Aura Paranormal. This ball will be a staple in the strong end of my arsenal and I see no reason that it shouldn’t be in yours. It’s almost Valentine’s Day so show your game a little love and treat yourself to the Aura Paranormal.

Good luck and good bowling!

I drilled my Paranormal with a 5.5 inch pin, mb is 5 from my pap.  I have used this on a house shot only so far.  This ball for me reads the midlanes incredibly great.  It makes a good move on the backend.  It has a smooth arcing ball motion for me.  The shape is similar to my Versa-Max with some more response down lane But a good amount stronger.  The Paranormal did not over read the dry part of the lane and over react for me which is rare with such a strong ball in my hand.  As I move left with the ball the reaction is still strong enough to kick out the corners.  The few things this ball did not like (I expected this though) was if I tried to wheel the lane from 5th arrow it would finish flat with out of box surface and it did not like trying to play straighter up the dry either.  I am going to drill a second one to give me more reaction down lane and polish it.  Over all I am very happy with the performance of the Paranormal as well as the Brunswick brand.

COMMENTS

The Aura Paranormal has been intriguing me since I watched a few people throw it. The Shop I work in operates in a house that puts out a heavier THS, probably the heaviest in area, which yields a boatload of corner pins on misses in the oil. So, when an opportunity presented itself, I drilled this one. The ball reads extremely well to the breakpoint and has a smooth continuation through the pin deck. Im my opinion, overall it is a much better offering than its pearl counterpart. The solid cover ensures the ball doesnt push too far downlane while still offering a decent controllable backend reaction. I reeled of 15 in a row before my first 7 pin, reoiled to get fresh, reeled of 6 more before the next one and 5 more after that. It was truly a joy to throw with oil.

Likes: I like the motion of the ball. The low RG core makes for easy reading and the cover chews through oily patterns. If you have a decent amount of oil, a Paranormal is in your future.

Dislikes: The only thing I didnt like was hitting the core while drilling. YOU KNOW WHEN YOU HIT THE CORE, LOL! Its a thick dense core. Of course, without oil this ball will puke and roll out, so oil is a necessity.

The first work out of my mouth when I threw this ball was WOW!  Continuing on with Brunswick’s latest success, the Aura Paranormal gets through the heads the cleanest I’ve ever seen for a ball that hooks this much!  The ultra low RG core, get’s this ball to pick up in the mid-lane.  Once the ball see’s the friction on the backend there is no holding back.  The Aura Paranormal conserves enough energy to continue through the pins in a unbelievable fashion.

I compared this ball to my Nexus (P+F).  The Nexus (P+F) was my go to ball on longer/heavier patterns.  I’ll gladly be putting the Nexus (P+F) away and replacing it with the Aura Paranormal.  The Aura Paranormal allowed me to move deeper and opens my angles up even more than the Nexus (P+F).

If you're looking for a ball to work on heavier/longer oil patterns get yourself a Aura Paranormal.

I have had the chance to throw this ball on a couple of different conditions now.  I will start off by saying this is not the same brunswick. This ball goes long, even considering the surface out of the box.  I was pleasantly surprised at the difference between this ball and my red and black Nexxus.  Both balls make for a nice one two ball reaction.  With the Nexxus early and smooth, and the paranormal length with backend.  If your a player who needs help  backend, or want to see more movement on the back end of the lane.  consider picking up a Paranormal aura.

Likes:back end reaction!!!!

Dislikes: Didnt hook as early as i expected.  This is not neccessarily a dislike, but keep in mind that this ball is not the earliest ball from brunswick.

COMMENTS

Likes: Everything. I love the ball. I especially love the Aura on wood lanes. It does not read early on wood, which can be so frustrating for a dull ball. The Paranormal Aura definitely has more hook than the original Aura, but smoother of a reaction at the breakpoint. Where it labors is heavy tournament oil. The Paranormal Aura is simply not enough hook out of the box. Sanding it rougher or drilling more aggressive would help. I simply love the motion of the ball and it shows Brunswick continues to be on the best bowling products in the world. Love the darker color scheme also. Thanks to Billy O. at Brunswick striving to make the best equipment out there.

This ball is very unique. When I first saw this ball I figured it was going to be your typical dull rolling, no back end, only necessary for soup city, but this ball is not necessarily that typical dull ball. This ball works on oil and even on medium THS. I bowled league with this on old beat up wood lanes, and first night out was 806 ball was rolling and smooth but so continuos it took out the 8 pin every time.
This is not usually the first ball out of the bag type of ball but when their gets to be some carry down and you need something stronger this is the go to ball definitely.
