The ZoneX Tour Editions are low RG, low differential RG reactive cover stock
balls designed to provide increased mid-lane roll when compared to higher RG
reactive cover stock balls. The TE1 uses PowrKoil 18 reactive cover stock
for aggressive response to dry areas of the lane. The TE2 uses N'Control
PowerStock reactive cover stock for a more moderate response to dry areas of

I had my fifteen-pound Brunswick Zone X TE1 (a.k.a. Yellow Pin, 2-3" pin out) drilled 3 3/8" X 3 3/4" for heavy oil (that's drill pattern 1E on Brunswick's Low-Differential Symmetrical Core Layout Sheet) with three ounces of top weight.

This is perhaps the hardest-hitting Zone I've ever seen! Playing the third arrow on a fresh league condition, the TE1 revved up very early with a strong arc and a smashing blow in the pocket. However, when the shot broke down, this ball rolled out to the Brooklyn side.

These tour edition balls are speed-sensitive, and they do not have a violent snap in the dry (thanks be to the low RG differential). They're great for the conditions that suit them best.

I'm curious to see how this ball stacks up on its forte: a tour condition, of course. A second review will soon follow...

This review is actually for the Brunswick Zone X TE2 (a.k.a. Orange Pin, 1-2" pin out). I purchased this ball along with my TE1, drilled 4" X 3 3/4" for medium oil (drilling 2E on the Brunswick Low-Differential Symmetrical Core Layout Sheet) with a three-ounce top.

I rolled a solid 724 series (237-232-255) this past Wednesday night with this ball on a second-shift league. I played around the fifteen board (like the TE1), but the TE2 had slightly less overall reaction than the TE1. It is true that the Orange Pin is not as aggressive as the Yellow Pin, but it is certainly not for the driest of lane conditions. Overall, it is another great early-rolling, easy-reading, hard-hitting, low-differential ball by Brunswick!

I got this ball from a friend who is on bruswicks sposorship staff. This has to be one of my favorite balls ever. I had it drilled pin above the bridge. The layout is Brunswicks 4L(dry lanes). When I can't strike with anything I go to my tour 2. It is a very controlable ball. If you put the ball to far to the right it will come right back into the pocket. It is a very forgiving ball. I use this is the ball between my red fuze and my groove dynamic reactive. The ball gets good length with a smooth break point when it gets into the pocket it hits hard and has excelent carry. i recently bought 3 new ones from my friend. one with the pin in the center of the grip with an x-hole, another with the pin over the bridge sanded to 600, and one with the pin over the middle finger. i love all the balls. this is a ball that allows you to use almost any layout you want.

i got the TE1 and drilled it with a pin out 2 1/4 inches and the pin is 1 1/4 inches under the ring finger with the cg 2 3/4 inches to the right of the center of the grip line. the weight hole is 6 1/2 inches out and 1/4 inch down from the center of the grip using a 1 inch bit 3 inches deep. this is a very versital condition ball. it has nice power. it is a great compliment to the tour 2. it has a nice clean reaction at every part of the lane. the break point is very consitant. this ball is a must have if u can find one.

I had a second TE1 drilled 3E on the low-differential sheet (2 1/2" from PAP, CG near grip center) for strong roll and hook without the violent jerk on the backend. I have had this ball for about a year. It was collecting dust in the basement over the last six months, so I decided to try it out on leagues after struggling below 600 three of the past four weeks. On March 5, 2002 I rolled games of 206, 207, and a perfecto (my second-ever in ABC competition) for a 713 series at Ducat's Imperial Lanes in Toledo, OH.

I never missed the pocket; every shot was solid! This ball (PowrKoil 18 coverstock, Rhino Pro Teal core) is simple, predictable, and reliable... a timeless classic! In years past I have owned a Rhino Pro Teal, the T2, the X, the Rhino Pro Deep Purple (with the Zone bismuth graphite nugget), and now the TE1. All of these rocks have the same teardrop-shaped core that has proven successful time and time again over the past ten years. Thank you, Brunswick, for keeping the legacy alive!
