Just a quick review. I've bowled with this ball on 3 conditions for a combined total of about 35 frames: "fresh" (not fresh" Brunswick synthetic house shot, actual fresh on the same lanes, and 1st shift USBC Open (Baton Rouge). I have a 4"+ pin to CG ball drilled above the fingers, double thumb...wanted a heavy oiler with max LEFT and directional change. I'm slightly rev dominant, very high track.

All this ball knows is left. Some heavy oil balls roll out and don't hook on dry, no, this ball just keeps going left. I can't believe how much hook this ball gets with its box surface of 1500, can't envision a situation where a rougher surface would be needed. Unusable even at box in anything but the heaviest of oil, on a house shot it allows me to play an inside line without swinging it out very far, and I can actually start left of the head pin and get recovery, something I can't say about many other heavy oil pieces I've tried. It also cleans incredibly easy for a super oiler dull piece.

I think I'm going to keep it at 1500 but shine it up with rough buff and just blow out fresh house shots. I'll probably be able to play ridiculously deep with it set up that way, something like 20 - 5 when I typically play 15 - 7 or 18 - 10, somewhere in those areas depending on the ball/lanes. You could probably drill up 3 of these and a urethane ball and cover every conceivable lane condition. Very very good but very very narrow application...this is a good thing.

Two words “Got Oil?” This is the strongest ball I've ever seen. It's even stronger than the Nexus Solid. If you are having difficulty getting a ball to move in a heavy oil situation or you are a low rev player, the Nexus f(p+r) is likely the ball to go to. With it's box surface this ball is very strong. The house shot we use is 44' in length and has a heavy concentration of oil in the middle. It is not enough for this ball in it's box condition. I hit the ball with Brunswick Ruff Buff and scuffed with a 2000 pad and the ball rolled much more consistently on that condition. I threw the Nexus f(p+r) recently in a tournament on Pro Anvil in the above modified surface and was able to stay with it for the entire block. It takes surface changes very well and rolls like a truck through the pin deck which tells me it has the capability of conserving energy for the back end.

The Nexus f(p+r) is very much as advertised. It has to be the strongest ball on the market at this time. I'm looking forward to using it on high volume long pattern tournament conditions. That is where the ball really shines. It's a great compliment to the other two balls in the Nexus Line and has definitely earned a spot in my tournament bag. Based on my game, I can see where I will use the Nexus f(p+r) mostly on fresh high volume tournament shots. Which means straighter angles to the pocket. On the right conditions the Nexus f(p+r) will allow me to open up the lane where I have not been able to do so with other equipment.

Dislikes:

Remember to use the right tool for the right job. The Nexus f(p+r) is intended for higher volumes of oil and for players who have difficulty opening up the lane. This ball is intended to address a specific situation, use it for what it's intended for.

This ball is is a beast. The second set I threw with this ball was 800 (my first one by the way!!). The reaction is massive, but very predictable. The pin action is just down write sick. I never seen that much wood fly around the pin deck.

Primarily used for heavier conditions, this worked very well on the THS at my center (800!). Sometimes with THS you can get bad over under, but with this ball I just don't see it. It's very smooth through the heads and the energy it retains just boggles my mind.

On heavier sport conditions I found to actually have a quite a bit of area; very impressed! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this ball to anyone looking for a new ball!

Likes: The Nexxus is the most aggressive ball I've thrown to date. It's perfect for rev challenged or speed dominant players. In my Nexxus, I wanted to create a ball reaction that would provide me a unique look on the lanes, contrary to my Nexus which provides me with a long and strong reaction perfect for any house condition environment. Being that the Nexxus was a stronger ball overall and might be too aggressive for a THS condition, I picked a layout that would give the ball more midlane reaction and less back end reaction. A ball that would work well on heavy oil Sport compliant patterns. True to form, this ball is too much on the house pattern. And though the angles I could create from the extreme outsides were impressive, the ball did in fact roll-out prior to hitting the pins, which was totally expected. In scenarios like this, the orginal Nexus Solid was plenty of ball and worked great on this condition.

On the heavier oil sport pattern used in our City Championships, the Nexxus made the unplayable part of the lane playable. As director of the tournament, I saw a lot of gutters and most everyone moved inside to play where there was friction. The outside of the lane was OB for just about everyone. With the Nexxus, the outside was absolutely playable. I was able to get a reaction on the outer portion of the lane absent to most all other bowlers. This allowed me to keep my angles strong and open up the outside of the lanes for games 2 and 3 and keep my entry angles strong. As this ball began to migrate too early, I stepped down into my regular Nexus Solid and finished off the set with a 722. My other team set on this pattern was a 719. The high in the house for this tournament was a 740, followed by a 735.

This ball cuts through oil and makes a sharp turn. It is probably a safe 4-5 boards stronger than the regular Nexus.

Dislikes: The Nexxus is a very strong ball. With so much friction in your typical house shot, I find this ball might actually be too much ball. For the rev challenged or speed dominant player, this ball is probably a great fit. For a ball this agressive, I think you speed and revs need to match for it to be productive. I.E., slow speed, slow revs, high speed and high revs.

Likes: At first, I wasn't totally sure how this ball fits into the lineup next to the Nexus f(P+F). The Nexxus uses the same core and same out of box finish. The "double X" is a bit cleaner through the fronts, has slightly less midlane read, and has stronger entry angle into the pins. It will actually be a bit more playable on THS than the Nexus f(P+F) because it is not quite as strong overall. It can still handle a fair amount of oil with ease, but will generate just a bit more punch on the backends which will help on THS. The Nexus f(P+F) maybe a tad more useful on sport conditions, but this Nexxus will be more usable everywhere else.

Our Digitrax analysis showed a fair amount of entry angle, and a bit more than the Nexus f(P+F). It actually bridges the huge gap between the Nexus f(P) pearl and the Nexus f(P+F) solid. There's still quite a gap between this ball and the Nexus pearl so not quite sure which ball I would pick as the step down to this ball.

This ball is a great compliment to the original Nexus. Nothing better than having two balls with nearly identical motion, but different strengths. This is a huge benefit to your arsenal. For me, the original Nexus is a very versatile ball. While it hooks quite a bit, it is still useable on medium conditions. With the NeXXus, you really get something that is destined for heavier patterns. While it may spend a little more time in the bag, it serves it's purpose when you hit a condition that is just plain slick. I drilled two of these...one with what I consider my benchmark layout (identical to my original Nexus) which allows me to open up the lanes, and another with a more control layout. Being asymmetric, my control ball has a longer pin to pap to promote more forward roll and a larger val angle to get the ball to be a little lazier downlane.

Ball #1 is about 5-6 boards stronger than my orginal Nexus at box finish. With my higher ball speed, I rarely have trouble with balls hooking too much on the 41' white pattern where I bowl league. This ball ended up being too much for it. My first real experience with the NeXXus was bowling a tournament the upcoming weekend that was pretty slick and had decent length, and I was able to get lots of frames on NeXXus #1. This ball gave me a look nobody else had in the center...I was able to get some reaction....but the lanes were so slick, I decided to hit the ball with 500 grit by hand....and while most people thought I was crazy at first, it was amazing the ball motion I was able to create. The ball STILL made the corner....at 500 grit...I was honestly quite impressed. I was able to get through 3 of 6 games of qualifying playing anywhere from 3rd arrow to 5th arrow using a 500 grit NeXXus. Most people were shocked to find out how much surface it had after seeing it turn the corner so well. Needless to say, it got the job done. Currently, I have this ball at 4000 grit to be more useable on league conditions, and it gives me quite a versatile look, much like the original Nexus. At 4000 grit, I have this ball about 3 boards weaker than my original Nexus at box finish. Between the Nexus and NeXXus, I really feel I can play my "A" game with bigger angles on a variety of conditions.

Ball #2 was drilled to allow me to play straighter angles without the ball jumping sideways on me. This ball doesn't get nearly as much lane time because, frankly, I don't hit conditions that require so much control very often. I really intend this ball to be used on heavier sport patterns when traveling to tournaments down south. I have used this ball at my league house on the 2012 USBC Open Championships pattern...and found it to still be a little too strong. This ball defintely gives me a earlier read than Ball#1 and smoother downlane motion as well. I have it about 1-2 boards weaker than Ball#1, but with an entirely different motion. This is definitely a more condition specific ball/layout.

In conclusion, I feel that there is no better ball for someone looking to handle heavier patterns...especially for the lower rev players and speed dominant players. Like I tell many of my customers though, this ball does need some oil, and sometimes, it might just have to wait in the bag. If you're looking for something that is a little more useable day to day, I still highly recommend the original Nexus....and with the both of them, you really can cover a wide variety of today's conditions.

Likes: I just starting bowling again after 12 years away from the sport. I've been amazed at how much the sport has changed. Not only with the lanes and different oil patterns used now. But the equipment/balls have changed so much. And until a few weeks ago I was and have been all over the lanes. Just wasn't able to find a ball that would work for me. The pro at our local center's shop suggested I try the new Nexus f (P+F). In the 4 leagues I've bowled in since getting that ball, my average has increased at least 10-15 pins in each league, in two of those leagues in three weeks using the Nexus I'm carrying a 193 average. This ball's action on medium to heavy oil is just awesome. And its forgiving as well if you miss a board or 2. It will find the pocket! Just a well designed ball bottom line!

The Nexxus Double X at 5.5 x 5 x 60 degrees has plenty of length through the front part of the lane and a high response to friction in the backend. This ball allowed me to feed the ball through the middle of the lane to the track area and see a strong but predictable and controlled ball motion with continuation through the pins. After the lanes transitioned and started to burn up, I was able to move deeper effortlessly and still see a strong backend motion.

I compared this ball to another Nexxus Double X drilled 4 x 4.5 x 45 degrees (pin under bridge). The pin-under Nexxus delivered more roll in the midlane with a less angular reaction to friction and allowed me to play the lanes straighter from further out.

The Nexxus Double X with this drilling tends to be better on lanes with crisp backends or higher friction typical house shot patterns.

Likes: Clean through the heads, rolls heavy and continues hard.

Dislikes: Really agressive cover, need to keep it in head oil or it will burn off too much energy. For me it was a condition specific ball.

I drilled this ball 55x5x30 no hole, left it at box finish. This ball has found a home in my bag at the top end of my arsenal for long/med and med/heavy shots, especially flatter shots where heavy roll, control, and smooth hook are needed. I use this ball predominantly on sport patterns or modified house shots with high volumes and low ratios. This ball allows me to stay in my comfort zone on these patterns with a little higher ball speed and still lets me create mistake room. I get a hard arcing motion, starting in the mids and continuing through the deck. This ball will hook, I haven't found a pattern yet that I had to point this ball or not give the pocket away a little.
