Intense Inferno
« on: December 31, 1969, 06:00:00 PM »
Technology – Stuck to the Lane
The Inferno line has been a tremendous success for Brunswick. Defined by Ultra-Low RG Core Systems and Activator coverstock technology, the Inferno line is known for its clean front-ends and a quick revving core that helps create mid-lane recovery and a hard arcing back-end reaction.

To expand the Inferno line, Brunswick’s engineers set out to create a new Inferno that delays its hooking action further down the lane while retaining the recovery and hard arcing back-end reaction the Inferno line is known for.

That ball is the
Intense Inferno
featuring
Activator + coverstock.

Activator+ is a new version of Activator coverstock technology that is a better match-up for the medium RG core system designed to delay the Intense Inferno’s hooking action. More aggressive in the mid-lane and back-ends, Activator + has a “Stuck to the Lane” quality that improves mid-lane recovery and the ability to handle carry down when compared to any coverstock Brunswick has used on a medium RG ball.

The Intense Inferno uses a new medium RG, medium differential Inferno family core that complements the Activator+ coverstocks increased traction creating the most angular Inferno to date.

Smoothly blended lane conditions will especially showcase the mid-lane traction qualities of Activator+. Broken down lane conditions will find the Intense Inferno’s medium RG core providing length and the Activator+ coverstock cutting through carry down. The Intense Inferno’s “Stuck to the Lane” quality will help improve pin carry on lane conditions that cause other balls to lose traction and hit.

Reaction Characteristics
Out of the Box: With its High Gloss Polish finish the Intense Inferno will match up well on medium-dry to medium-oily lane conditions.
When dulled: The Intense Inferno hooking action will increase and its arc will become more even, creating a better match-up for oily lane conditions and help blend the over/under reactions seen on wet/dry lane conditions.

I got this ball from a friend of mine that bowls on the senior national tour...he hated this ball so he gave it to me.  I forget how it's drilled exactly but the ball rolls up real soon... i've got a good amount of hand but sometimes i can't get it to turn the corner b/c of the way its drilled....this ball definently isn't your oil buster but it carries everything if you keep it in the hole...835 for 3 first three games on it. I love it but ya got to keep it out of the oil....great ball

this is a nice looking ball but i would have to say i am impressed with its reaction on oily lanes but i bought it for more of a oily lane kinda ball so i am going to sand it down to 600 and maybe that will get me more reaction for the oil conditions that i often face.  this has a good reaction on the back end on dryish lanes that can cary most any ten pins but for me it can leave a couple 9 pins once in a while.  i got mine used it would be the 3rd time its been redrilled in good condition i've got the pin about maybe 1.5" from the ring finger at about 5 oclock.  it reacts very well on wood lanes even with somewhat oily lanes but on sinthedic lanes wait for the last game to use it

I sanded the ball down to 600 and i have to say that i am more impressed with its reaction on oily lanes. I went bowling on wednesday and it wasnt my best day but i was satisfied with its reaction on these lanes. i bowled 181 182 and a 183 the closest i've gotten to getting a triplicate.  this ball is very sensative when it comes to speed if you throw it slow it will cross over for me if you throw it fast it wont come back it takes a very consistant speed to do well with this ball

update i bowled a couple times with this ball and the way i have it drilled i'm very much more satisfied with its reaction i throw about 3 boards left of the 1st arrow and stand on a 7 dot approach 1 board left of the 2nd dot i bowled a 258 a couple weeks ago with 7 strikes in a row this is sure to be a promising ball and with my track triton elite as my 2nd hand ball its sure to be a 1 2 KO in high school league

This is my least favorite of all inferno balls. The condition needs to be a little dryer for this ball to be consistent. If there is a decent amount of head oil this ball will overskid. On the right shot it does go longer and snap fairly hard.

I got this ball for $30.00 last Saturday(6/11). I had the polish knocked off by using a burgundy pad on it very lightly. This ball goes really long and has a ton of backend reaction for me. My second game ever I had a 299 with it. So far with this ball I've been averaging 219 for 12 games with it.

Got my intense used also...on Fri. 7/8...only one drilling on it..excellent condition, with drilling and inserts for $70.00...also the pro shop guy here in Houston resurfaced the ball as part of the package. It is drilled with the pin one inch above the ring and middle fingers...dead in the middle..no balance hole. It is my first Bruinswick ball since the H P D. Took it out for a practice after I adjusted the thumb hole to my liking...The house I practiced on is synthetic, flooded up front about maybe 35 feet..with a medium backend..sort of a top hat pattern. I was very impressed with the Intense...I know this ball is already a year old now, or more...but I thought the Intense has the best recovery of any ball ive ever thrown....particles not included. Im not a cranker, im a down and in player. It is very clean thru the heads.... very readable thru the mids, has a very smooth and beautiful roll as it reads... holds the line up ten...standing on 17..keep your speed up! I moved over left, stood on 25, threw up 15, out to 3 and it recovered nicely to crash the pocket. It made me look like a cranker! LOL! I was amazed at how much pin action I was getting...messengers all over the place, which is rare for me being mostly down and in. Bowled 5 games on it..the first 2 were on a sport shot.."I wont lie to you"...I never had a ten pin the whole practice!, it was unbelievable! When the ball hit the pocket it carried light hits as well as flush...left me some sevens and fours on high hits, but wasnt a problem...This is a very nice ball, I recommend it to be part of the building or rebuilding of your arsenal for the upcoming fall season.    Now the only negative about this ball is that it is very hard to control in the mids when the heads disappear. It will become a very aggressive monster if you dont have the ability to either...keep your speed up..or loft it out and over the burnt heads...this ball had no over and under for me...I give it about a 8.5 rating out of 10...overall a wonderful addition to my starting line up..which includes.. the Depth Charge, XXX Factor, The Aggressive Arsenal by Track, and The very first Vortex by Ebonite The Trimax...it still hits hard! As you can see I dont discriminate...I throw what ever works for me.  Thanks for reading my review...Good bowling!

Drilled: 4 x 5

This ball is a beast. I never had a ball this smooth down the lane with such
a dramatic backend. It has great recovery and awesome hitting power. I got this ball to replace my Backyard Bully which was really squirty. The only thing is that carry down restricts this ball. But over all i am very impress. You want to pull this ball out when the heads start to break down a little. Carrydown is this ball's Nemesis.

I've had this ball now for about 6 months and i think that this will be a very good ball to start out with for me. i had this ball dulled to 600 and i am getting a very good reaction out of it.  on my saturday league for the first week i averaged 213 and i'm usually a 190's player.  my first game was a 254 i think with 9 strikes. if you're looking for a good ball that can come back as well as hold the pocket or cross over enough to avoid getting a split then this is the ball for you.  this ball makes me a believer!! go brunswick

Could anyone possibly give me an idea of how long the balls coverstock will last before it dies?? Assuming im putting like 4-10 games a week on it and cleaning it after every day of use..(saturday and sunday) I own a absolute inferno, arent the coverstocks the same?? (using micro fiber towel and cleaning ball)

This is my best ball for +Medium oil. If my Blazing Inferno slides a bit farder then this is the ball to use. Gives me back in Control and gets the  strikes back. Drilled 2L and the CG slightly towards between two fingers.

This ball is the real deal! I can't believe this ball is so underlooked. Today I used my Intense for the first time and it did exactly what I wanted. My Absolute Inferno was a bit to strong so I pulled my Intense out and I could throw the same line as the absolute and it wouldn't snap hard off the dry like my Absolute was, instead it made a very smooth and controllable move into the pocket to smash the pins. Brunswick should re-release this ball because it's absolutely amazing. If you come across one of these and I know it's hard now a days then you should buy it, you won't be dissapointed. I now actually own 2 of these and i'm glad I do. ONCE AGAIN, GOOD JOB BRUNSWICK ON A GREAT BALL.

Intense Inferno rating-11/10!
