Drilled my Stellar 45x4x50 (pin in ring finger) with the intention of having a different look as the lanes dry out.  I loved the Versamax and the Heroes both rolled well for me so seeing a ball with the Versamax core and a cover between the Heroes was very exciting.

My initial impression was that the Stellar was very clean (especially for a 4" pin) and had more response off the friction than I expected.  My look with a little swing was great, but it felt like there was no limit to how deep I could get and still make the corner.  I have since taken the surface down to 3000 as I have mostly seen fresh lanes with plenty of head oil and minimal transition.
My best look has been on 44' Titanium - a challenge pattern that at least in our house scores best when I can stay more parallel with my angles.  I could stay straighter and firmer with lots of hold to the pocket, but softening up and allowing the ball to recover on the back end resulted in the best carry.  We recorded a video ball review on 42' Carbon - our house pattern and this ball was a little too aggressive for me off the back end, although all of the unnecessarily strong entry angle resulted in a great carry percentage.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rB8lUJzNkx8&t=209s

I have thrown the Stellar on some patterns below 40' and just found it to be a bit too sharp for my eye.  I prefer smoother, rollier options as the pattern length gets shorter as they provide me with more down lane control although the Stellar did provide me with enough recovery to make it back from what appeared to be out of bounds for other players.

Compared to other balls in my bag, the Stellar is cleaner and sharper than my pin down Melee Jab Midnight Blue.  The Jab wants to roll up just a little sooner and tumble more forward, while the Stellar is much more dynamic on the latter half of the lane.  I don't really have a favorite between the two - just 2 different shapes for different patterns.  In terms of balls currently in my arsenal, the Stellar matches closest to my Glam and will be taking its spot in my tournament bag from here on out.

It has been years since I last threw the Versamax, but I do not recall the Versamax being this responsive to the friction and preferring more parallel angles.  The Stellar to my eye reminds me of an updated Hyroad and represents a ball reaction which has been missing in the Brunswick lineup.

I recommend the Stellar to bowlers looking for a ball to switch to for the latter half of their league session or for use on broken down medium to long tournament patterns.  This is a ball which will be most suitable for bowlers with a heavier, more forward roll that are wanting to see more length and response off the back end.

I drilled my Brunswick Stellar 45 x 4-1/4 x 25

This ball has the very popular Versa Max Core from a few years back, however the motion this ball gives me is very different from the Versa Max. Out of the box, this ball gets great length but when it encounters friction, it is one of the most responsive balls I have thrown in the Brunswick line. This ball allows me to move in and send it left (left handed) and know that it is going to recover.

This ball for me is a step down from my Melee Blood Red. While the Melee is stronger in the midlane, the Stellar is much sharper down lane. I definitely recommend this ball for bowlers who are looking for something to throw later in the block/league when they want to open up their angles and want a sharper motion down lane.

The Stellar surprised me at how easily it glided through the heads. It pretty much ignores the front 2/3 of the lane.  As mentioned by others, it's more angular than most of my equipment, so just feed it to friction and have confidence in it's return.

I have about 8-12 games on mine and it's definitely a keeper on house shots.

The Stellar has been a fantastic addition to my bag. It provides EASY length up front and is surprisingly responsive down lane (factory finish, 5” pin to PAP, pin down). In my eyes, the most impressive aspect of this ball is that it looks better and better the further right I move (left handed)!

In terms of complementary reactions for me, the Stellar is a perfect ball down from the Hammer Scorpion (same layout, very light polish on top of FF). Balls like the Melee Jab and the Uppercut are both stronger in the mid lane and not quite as responsive down lane.

If you’re looking for one of those late game “get out of jail free” cards, I would highly recommend taking a look at the Stellar!

COMMENTS

The Brunswick Stellar is a must have if you loved the C-System Versa-max.  The Stellar has a clean look through the front with a early mid-lane roll like the Versa-Max but more continuous on the backend.  The Stellar is gonna be a outstanding ball for tournaments and sport shot patterns.

The Stellar brings back the popular Versamax core with a new quicker reacting coverstock.  What I found with the Stellar is some of the Versamax shape in the middle part of the lane and some of its forgiving nature.  This one is certainly cleaner and has better recovery than the Versamax.  It fits in between the Hero and the Fearless reaction wise and looks to be a real winner on the moderate type conditions.  I use it as a ball down from the Midnight Blue Jab.  This one compares favorably as an updated Hyroad and should be a good ball for all styles of play.  Be sure to check out the Stellar if your looking for good backend reaction on medium conditions.
