On the very first shot, I saw a difference in the Classic Black Quantum compared with the Forest Green and the Fire Pearl.  There is no doubt about it that this ball has more of a skid/flip motion compared with the other two Quantums.

Now, I’m a left handed tweener with a moderate rev rate.  This ball definitely had a much stronger motion than my other two Quantums.  What I like about this ball is that the skid/flip motion allows for a little more recovery down lane.  It gives me that little extra kick to slap out the seven pin and stay with the ball a little bit longer before moving to another piece of equipment. 

Like my other Quantums, this ball needs some oil in order to get it down lane but it does hit like  a truck.  I also like how increasing my ball speed a little bit seems to tame the “flip” downlane and still come strongly off the spot.  I’m excited to have this ball see some tournament action in the upcoming weeks!


Likes: Skid/flip motion for better angle entry to the pocket, really clean through the mid-lane to get to the spot.

Dislikes: Need to keep the speed up on this ball to get it down lane and manage the pocket due to the flip on the backend

Just loving this ball!  Mine is drilled 70X4X35 and using out of box finish.  I've been searching for a shape to replace my old Radical Ridiculous and this ball for me has similar characteristics.  It clears the fronts and midlane beautifully and really picks up at the right time on the backend.

Definitely a different shape than the other balls in the Quantum line.  Just be cautious with it on heavy volume patterns, you might want to hit it with a 1000 or 1500 pad if you plan using it against that much oil.

But a really nice piece to add to your arsenal when your equipment that reads earlier is having trouble getting to the spot.

The Black Quantum is the newest release in the Quantum line.  For some reason, I always do pretty well with the solid black bowling balls. I really like the length and backend of this new Quantum.  I chose a pin up layout in the middle of the grip line with just a slight kick right of the CG and no extra hole.  While unless there is a good bit of hook on the lane (which I have not seen in my area so far this season), this will not be the first ball out of my bag.  The last game of league, or later in tournaments are where this ball will shine.  It clears the front of the lane with ease, but stands up strong and has a pretty sharp motion off the end of the pattern.  Those who look for long and strong will love this new Quantum.  It is a much stronger reaction down lane than the Red Quantum which would tend to be a little lazy for me when there was some carry down. 

Here is the newest ball in the Quantum serie, the Black Quantum.  This ball offers the same core as the other quantum but this one is wrapped up with the Relativity Flip solid coverstock with some compound on it.  The cover is the same used on the Magnitude 035.  The difference resides in the thickness of the coverstock.  On the quantums, there is no filler, only coverstock.  That means 3.5 more times coverstock and means more durability and a greater impact in the pins. 

I drilled mine with one of my favorite drilling, 55x4”x35.  On the lane the ball is really clean through the heads with a sharp turn in the backend.  Compared to my DV8 Creed, I play one board right with my feet and one board right with my eyes.  The shape is similar but the cover stock is weaker.  When the Creed begins to over hook and I can’t move too much left, I just switch to the Black Quantum .  Compared to my DV8 Rumor, I play the Rumor one board right with my feet and on board right with my eyes.  The Rumor is cleaner through the heads and rolls faster in the midlane.  When the Black Quantum begins to over hook and I can’t move too much left, I just switch to the Rumor. 

For people with more speed, the ball can be sanded to a 1000 or even a 500 grit. 

Don’t forget for the US costumer, you can get a quantum bag when purchasing a ball.  You just have to fill up and send to Brunswick a form and you’ll get the bag.

To conclude, if you wanna have a professional grade ball and a free bag, the Black Quantum is for you.

I'm extremely impressed with the Quantum Classic Black from Brunswick. If you are needing a ball for medium to slightly more oily lanes, this ball is a home run. The ball reads just enough of the heads to  smooth the break point just a bit (that's big for me helping with carry), but it gets far enough down the lane that hooking early hasn't been an issue. The ball is a great bench mark ball and fits perfectly with the Forest Green and Fire Quantums. The ball is extremely good with pin carry, and keeps the pins low for maximum destruction on the pin deck. If you are looking to revise your ball arsenal, this is a wonderful place to start.
