Twisted Fury
« on: December 31, 1969, 06:00:00 PM »
Ball NPS Score: 100.00
Coverstock: EnMotionâ„¢ Reactive
Ball Color: Red / Black / Silver All colors do vary somewhat from the picture shown.
Ball Finish: Rough Buff Finish
Hook Potential: 115 (Medium-High) on a scale of 10-175 Low-High
Length: 105 (Medium) on a scale of 25-235 Early-Late
RG Differential: 0.036 (Medium Flare) on a scale of .000-.080 Low Flare-High Flare
RG Average: 2.548 (Medium-Low) on a scale of 2.43-2.80 Very Low-High Break Point
Breakpoint Shape: 80 (Angular) on a scale of 10-100 Arced-Angular
Recommended Lane Conditions: Medium to Oily
Description: Get Twisted! The Twisted Fury expands and upgrades the Fury line by introducing both a new core and new coverstock to the market. The Twisted Fury is comprised of an asymmetric version of the Torsionâ„¢Core and the EnMotionâ„¢ Reactive coverstock.
Coverstock: The Twisted Fury introduces EnMotion Reactive coverstock. More aggressive in the mid-lane and back-end than High Octane, EnMotion Reactive delivers tremendous mid-lane recovery and forgiveness combined with plenty of back-end ball reaction
Core: Brunswick has added a new twist to the Torsion core concept by producing an Asymmetric version for the Twisted Fury. The symmetric version of the Torsion core used in the original Fury was based on triangular geometry. The Asymmetric version is based on a six-sided polygon. The inner core of a 16-pound Twisted Fury weighs in at 6.36 pounds, resulting in a medium RG that helps push the aggressive EnMotion coverstock down the lane. Brunswick has put a new twist on core design so you can twist it up better on the lanes.

All,

Brunswick's East Coast Product Specialist, Dennis Reale, was kind enough to send me one of the first Twisted Fury's to come off the line. All I can say is WOW!!!!! I am impressed!!!!!

First the stats. My axis is 5 1/2" over and 5/8" up. I guess I would be considered now a power tweener (darned old age ) . I drilled the Twisted with the primary pin at 5" from my axis and the psa at 55 degrees in relationship to my axis.

The Twisted gets through the fronts with ease and makes a very strong, continuous arc to the pocket. Sounds pretty standard for a Brunswick ball. But now comes the difference.

I have used this ball on a few different conditions now, and what really impresses me is the Twisted's ability to cut through carrydown.

I have used the Twisted up against other Brunswick produced balls and some other competitor's equipment. The Twisted retains it's hitting power when all other balls tend to back-off downlane when carrydown is present. I won't mention it's name, but one of the more popular asymmetric pearlized balls would "wiggle" downlane and not get through the pins very well (flat 10's all day long). But the Twisted really seems to stay "stuck" to the lane better and get through the pins better than any ball I have thrown it up against.

With the introduction of the Twisted Fury, it looks as though Brunswick has started to really get it's act together at the new facility.

Twisted #1

4 3/4" PIN to PAP, Pin below fingers, 55 degree MB. OOB finish.

This layout for me wants to roll right away and stand up in the pocket. This enables me to square up and let the cover glide through the front. The response to friction is quick for a strong move to the pocket.

I bowled on a 43' modified FIQ pattern and after a few games of play I was able to use the Twisted. I couldn't use it early with the box finish and long oil, but after some break down I could move deep and use the length for pull and the break down for room right.

Twisted #2

5" PIN to PAP, Pin above fingers, 45 degree MB.

Compared to my 5" Blast Zone 70 degree, the Twisted is an animal! This is the hardest backending Brunswick Assym I have thrown!! With the 45 degree we had to put a hole regardless to bring it back to legal. I threw it before hand to determine where it should go and this ball consistently drove to the 8 through the pins. We put the hole on my PAP and it didn't affect the reaction.

(UPDATE) January 2, 2008

Twisted #3 RICO

Pin in center of grip with the MB at 45 degrees.

Compared to Twisted #1, this layout is 100 times better! Like I mentioned above, #1 stands up to the pocket quickly, and this RICO has a much stronger roll and is continuous through the pins. This ball lets me stay to the right and strike. The break point window is much longer than #1. #3 is OOB finish. This layout matches up perfectly to the ball for me.

I have been experimenting in trying to find a layout/ball combo to stay to the right and still carry the ten. I have found it in this ball with the RICO.

Ric Hamlin is awesome and sent me one of these to test for him.  I would have posted earlier on this ball, but I have had many people throw this ball to assure me that this ball is very different.

If this ball did not have a "B" label on it you wouldn't know it was a "B" Ball at all. I drilled it 4-1/4" from pap 55Deg. pin 1-1/2" up from the Midline.  My first impression of this ball was WOW!  I cant believe it is a Brunswick ball.  Soooooo clean thru the fronts and mid-lane area then just comes unglued in the backend.  The more impressive thing was how it did all that in a very predictable manner.  I never got the feeling that it was going to be over/under like most skid/flip balls.  Then I turned it over to some of the locals in the house.  3-300's have been shot with it in practice and I have pre sold 5 of them as of now. It is truly an amazing piece of equipment.  This ball with either replace something in your bag or will be a ball you do not have and need to put in there.

Layout - 4 1/2" pin to PAP, below fingers, and MB at 45 degrees. Balance hole. Factory finish.

I'm not a high rev bowler. Not even close. I'm usually around 16 mph and try to play straighter as my first option.

This ball has 9 games on it now, and I'm comfortable recommending it to anyone who wants a ball to clear the heads with EASE and finish hard.  It's a little shiny for me to play on wet, except for the extreme outside line where I prefer, anyway. So far, carry has been exceptional.

If I put a decent release (because sometimes I don't) this ball is sure to start reading and finishing with authority.  I may try it at 2000 abralon just to see how much more room I have.  Brunswick and BTM have both said that "the ball rolls great no matter what finish we put on it."

I will try to remember to update this review if/when I take a little shine off. I have been very happy with other Brunswick asymmetrical core balls and anticipate that this one may be at the top of the list the more I throw it.

On a less serious note, mine has lots of silver with maybe 25% burgundy and 25% black.  Some of the guys have said it makes them dizzy watching this one go down the lane... Who says there's no defense in bowling?

UPDATE: Took the cover down to 1000 then back up to 2000 abralon on the advice of Ric Hamlin.  The ball still finishes nicely, but gives me more room for error.  When I threw it on a lane with some carry-down from open play it was still able to finish, and on fresh league shot with plenty of oil and clean back-ends the ball was still great, just had to make a tiny move left each game
for carry.

UPDATE #2: Applied Bean's Secret Sauce and the ball was the strongest back end move yet. I will probably leave it here as it is a nice compliment to my Pearl Fury and Fury solid. Do NOT hesitate to try this ball!

OK.  4 ¾ pin to PAP with pin just below fingers right in the midline.  55 degrees between Pap and MB.  Pretty much right in between Bruns 1 + 2 drilling sheet. Tried in box finish and did not get much kick down the lane.  40 foot house shot that has lots of oil in the heads and old wood.  Hit with 2000 abalron and got a little better reaction.  Finally put a ¾ by 2 ½ hole in pos thumb axis.  Big difference.  A lot more back end reaction.  And with my huge rev’s (LOL) I could really see it kick in.

Last night during league started practice with total inferno.  El hooko.  Went down to the Fury Pearl.  Strong mid and  large finish.  OK.  Take the Twisted out and move 3 left, (left handed but it is what it is).  Bam, good kick at the end and much longer.  So I’ll use it.  Front 8 and then a 7pin.  Nothing new.  Next game front 12….300.  Last game drank beer.  781 with a new ball is a great start.  At our place there is usually maybe 3 or 4 300’s a year and very old school.  When someone shoots 300 the place goes nuts and it did.  New bowlers came up and thanked me cuz they’s never seen anyone do it.  Must say it felt great to hear it and to give them the joy of seeing it.   And what a year!!!!  Hole in one….300….just need an 800 to fill it up !!!!

And yes we do the PBA Experience league and many know the diff and get a kick out of trying to figure out what to do when the house shot isn’t there.

Will be bowling a couple tourns next weekend and see if I can use it.  But I’ll use whatever is working.  Used it last night cuz I felt like trying it.  Lanes may be dry at both places and maybe not.  Bowl all over the Northwest and usually do well wherever I go.

Thanks to Ric Hamlin.  The colors go down the lane very well.  No one got seasick !!!!  Is for sure different than any Bruns ball I’ve thrown…………Rolled………Tossed……

Stats:
Speed: 17-18
RPM: 350-400
Tilt: low-mid

Drilled 5" from PAP above fingers with a 45* PSA.

Only thrown it for a couple of games but all I can say is wow. I have not seen another brunswick ball give the same look on the lanes. It was about 2 boards weaker than my Pearl Fury(4.5" below) and 2 boards stronger than my Smokin Inferno(6" above). It skids through the oil, picks up in the midlane, and snaps off the dry. It reacts to the dry a little more slowly than the Pearl but gives a stronger movement. It will be a great piece for me when the Pearl is too much or I can't get deep with it. It revs up in the midlane giving it the control to destroy a THS, and mine has! I've only been able to average about 225-230 with it so far, hopefully it will pick up the pace! It will definitely be a go-to ball on patterns between 36-40ft. and should be in everyone's bag.

See Profile for stats. Layout, 5" pin to pap right under middle finger, mass bias 45*, no balance hole. Ball has 10-12 games on it, so i feel i can give honest review. Bowl on anvilane synthetics, 38-40' THS, second shift. Ball is awesome, handles the medium pattern with ease in OOB finish, but you will need oil in the heads for this ball to really show it's strength. The backend is very strong & continuos, not quite a flip but a very strong arc. Ball is also very responsive to different releases, i can play anywhere from fourth arrow with alot of hand, or first arrow staying up the back of the ball. Carry is excellant, especially on light pocket hits, even if i miss the release a little bit ball still hits very hard. This is the first Fury i have owned and i am very happy with this ball, would recommend it to anyone looking for a medium to medium-heavy oil ball. I was a little hesitant about buying this ball because of some of the quality control issues since the move to Mexico, but i am glad i did. If you are thinking about getting this ball, get it and have it drilled correctly. You won't be sorry.

I drilled mine out today, and am very impressed.  I was initially concerned about the higher rg, and relatively mild differential.  However my first impression is of an almost perfect core shell matchup.  The shell is clearly stronger than Octane, to the point that it needs the higher rg to store some energy.

I can play the Twisted in almost the same area of the lane as my much more rolly Pearl Fury. However, the roll pattern and break point are enough different that I can expect a difference in carry from the two.  Since carry is my main reason for making a ball change, rather than trying to acquire or reacquire the pocket, these two balls should become very good compliments to each other

bought the twisted fury last week.  didnt really get a chance to actually go practice with it before league, but threw it non the less.  this has got to be the best ball on the market by far.   now i'm a total ebonite guy, but after talking to my pro shop i decieded to give this a try.  there isnt anything bad i can say about this ball.  i drilled it with pin above ring finger with the cg and mass bias kicked out 45 degrees, with a hole on my pap with the intention of having something that had a very controled back end.  and i succeeded at that.  the ball comes off the dry and just sits, no over hooking here.  after about 12 games with this ball, i've thrown a 809 and a 299.  if ur looking for something that is forgiving this ball is it.  i liked it so much i ordered another

My Twisted Fury is awesome, definitely my benchmark ball. The ball loves a THS. My house, which is Harley's Bowl in Simi Valley, rarely puts out a high volume of oil. Me being a stroker/tweener, I dont like playing outside of my comfort zone. This ball gives the best look out of all 4 balls that I have.

This Fury was supposed to be a benchmark ball but its a little to weak to call it that. It turned out alright. Very lengthy but kinda smooth on the backend. Good ball. Great control. Good for lighter volume house shots as well as sport shots.

Twisted Fury
Ball Specs
The ball being drilled was a 3” pin out with 3.00 oz top weight.
Drilling: Pin 4" from PAP and Mb 4" from PAP. Pin Buffer 2" from V.A.L. Pin is above ring finger, 3" above grip midline. Weight Hole on my axis. Factory Rough Buff.

Bowler Information:
Track diameter is 10 1/2.
PAP is measured at 5 1/4 over and 3/8" up.
Average ball speed (foul line to head pin) is 16 mph.
Axis rotation is typically 90 degrees
Initial rev rate is typically 300 rpm, "Tweener"
Lane Condition and Pattern:
Bowlero Lanes, HPL 9000 Panel. Oil Pattern: Fairly Flat condition from edge board to edge board, semi clean backends.

Review:
Great colors in the Ball, so far very well recieved by the customers in my shop. I love the ball for drier conditions. On Oil the ball tends to labor unless you have alot of hand, it is alot more readable than previous Brunswick Skid Snap balls. Great ball for slower speeds or heavy hand releases, recovers well from an inside angle and hits very hard. Brunswick has done their job on this coverstock, I expect to see other balls come from them with the same coverstock in the future. Thanks for reading my review.

I just bought a Twisted Fury this morning and thru 1 game with it and shot 256. I had it drilled for maximum back end performance. I bowl at Spectrum Lanes in Wyoming, Michigan and the condition has been a bit slick to say the least. The first game I bowled I used my Ebonite NVS to get loose and that ball moved about 3 boards on the heavy oil pattern. The second game I used my new Twisted Fury and even on heavy oil it had a GREAT back end reaction. It DID NOT over hook when it hit a little less oil area and with a little tug left onto more oil it still hit like a tank!!! Out of 10 pocket shots I had 9 crushing strikes a left a solid 9 pin on the other. I was going to purchase a Complete NV but, my balloligest John C. told me about the raving reviews of the Twisted Fury. So, my advice would be to go with the brunswick Twisted Fury is you're tired of shooting at spares. With this ball you will be throwing it just once a frame.

Compared against the Fury  Hi Octane Cover stock,
The Asymmetric core design  matched with an EnMotion Core  combined
 With an Reactive cover stock.
The Twisted Fury
Is More aggressive in the mid-lane and back-end than High Octane, EnMotion Reactive
Twisted fury has a control predictable midland roller with great hitting power
This Ball is at it’s best on medium patterns
Reaction Characteristics”
Out of the Box: With its Rough Buff finish, the Twisted Fury will provide excellent mid-lane recovery and a strong continuous back-end reaction.
If your Twisted Fury goes too long:
Dull the surface with 800-grit or rougher abrasive to get the Twisted Fury to roll sooner and increase its hooking action.
If your Twisted Fury hooks too early:
Polish your Twisted Fury with Brunswick’s Factory Finish High Gloss Polish.

To bring your Twisted Fury back to its original factory finish, sand the surface to 400-grit then use Brunswick’s Factory Rough Buff Finish.

Very predictable reaction with the ball not jumping too much or too little.
Creates some  forgiveness area on the lane.
Controlled able Midlane will  Make tackling tougher lane condition much easier
