Ultimate Inferno
« on: December 31, 1969, 06:00:00 PM »
Reaction Characteristics
The Ultimate Inferno is a heavy oil ball designed for bowlers who prefer Reactive over Particle coverstocks. The Ultimate Inferno uses the same core as the original Inferno but combines it with a solid 800-grit dull version of Activator coverstock.

Compared to the original Inferno:
-The Ultimate Inferno will match-up better to oily lane conditions, longer patterns and heavy carry down.
-The Ultimate Inferno will match-up better for bowlers who struggle with excessively long ball reaction.
-The Ultimate Inferno will match-up better on heavily oiled - over/under lane conditions.

Brunswick’s new Activator Coverstock has quickly established a reputation for excellence in ball reaction, durability and longevity of ball reaction. On the lanes, Activator Coverstock is clean through the heads with excellent mid-lane recovery and a strong arcing back-end reaction that creates powerful pin action. Owners of the original Inferno have reported that it requires less frequent resurfacing and rejuvenations and is more resistant to cracking than other reactive coverstock balls.

Utility
Out of the box: The Ultimate Inferno is an ideal heavy oil ball for players wanting to use a Reactive coverstock.
When shined: Using Brunswick’s Factory Finish High Gloss Polish the total hooking action of the Ultimate Inferno can be reduced and the arc made more skid/snap.

Reaction Setup
The Ultimate Inferno can be drilled using the standard drilling techniques developed for two-piece balls, see the included drilling instructions for reaction characteristics and layout details.

The Ultimate Inferno is finished with a dull 800-grit surface finish which increases its hooking action in the oil. Dull surface finishes can sometimes hook too early resulting in reduced backend reaction and hitting power. To increase length, polish the surface with Brunswick’s Factory Finish High Gloss Polish.

699 RIGHT OUT OF THE DRILL PRESS!
Lane Conditions: Heavy Oil
Typical Conditions: Variety of Shots
Type of Lane: Combination
What part of the lane did you play? Second Arrow
Did the ball track out? Fast
Weight of bowling ball: 15
Surface of bowling ball: Factory/Box
What grit was the surface of the ball? 800
Likes: Great on Heavy Patterns! Revs up great and Great pin action!
Dislikes: nuttin really

I got this ball from Carly Clayton(sexy/cool friend/good female bowler) and she said she didnt like it at all.... and for $20, that ball was mine! I drilled it up on a saturday, and with no practice at Travel League, @ Unity Lanes, I SHOT 699!!!!!!!!! on my last ball of my last frame, in the last game, i thought i was clear in the 700, but i needed a 8-count to shoot 7-flat.... well i leave a 7-count and shoot 699..... fun day! This ball revs up real good, and i love it to death! It helped me get thru my release problems and now that i got that down, i can work w/ my Raging Inferno, and i just drilled up a Blazing Inferno, so i'll comment on those soon!

NEW HIGH GAME ON ULTIMATE INFERNO!! 253!!not much but since i'm only 13 & I've only bin bowlin for 1 and 1/2 years... I'll put it here anyway.. I don't know the exact layout of the ball but i know its drilled for maximum hook with less power on the backend.. but i didnt' like the hook so i got it polished and now it works wonders on medium-medium-oily lanes. this ball is amazing it skids till it hits buff then starts to roll.. and it rolls great.. rolls till about 3 feet down after the oil then SNAPZ right to e pocket! No rollout! just a strong reaction to e pocket ramming the pins down with excellent carrypower. No pin 10's!! this ball is amazing.. Especially since it has about 650 games on it along with 2X reconditioning... Its still burning and fresh! amazing ball. I recommend it to anyone looking for a heavy oil ball.. Peace Out Fellaz!

Ultimate Inferno 15lbs,2.6 tw, 3-4 pin, Righty.
Specs 4 1/2-5 PAP, Pin place below my ring finger
CG kick out 1+" above thumb to my right
Weight hole 2" from PAP(i think)
Type of bowler= Tweener *172 league bowler this year
Lanes=Wood
Reaction= Early Forward role (I just can't take the skid flip anymore, just to unpredictable. I throw between the 3rd & 4th arrows, 60 degree angle from the 30th board. This is a new layout and weight for me. The drastic change in avg might not be the ball.)

Tossed A 256,204,267= 727 series(with friend aka witness). I shook it off, thinking I couldn't possibly do this in league. OH NO MY FRIENDS, tossed a 222,255,203=680 series.

Let me tell you this Monster is all that it's crack up to be. No matter where i throw it, it always comes back.

P.S. Thanks Icetink for the layout advice on my UI.

2" pin
4 x 3" drilling
pin located slightly under the ring finger
Check my profile

I'll try to make this short and accurate. The cover is very strong and will stand up very soon at the sign of any dry boards. This ball is a very rolly ball with a very strong turn reaction. Nothing near flippy or snappy. The predictability is superb. And the coverstock seems to be holding pretty well for such an aggressive ball.

My usual line with will be 15 to 5 or 3. While I find myself a lot going up the 5 board or playing a light swing on oiler lanes. Either way I find this ball to be very versatile for a lots of lane conditions. Still one of the better balls I've ever thrown.

Specs:
15lbs
3-4" pin
Drilled pin below ring (RH), cg stacked in line below, no weight hole
Shined heavily (not sure of grit numbers, but she is glossed big time)

Pros: Totally predictable, good bite in thick oil and/or carrydown, punishing hit, extremely user friendly

Cons: Need a lot of juice or it burns up at your feet

Overall: This is the perfect ball for tournament players, but it can be used by anyone. This is the ball that I go to when I want to settle in and have a relaxing night. With this ball in my hands I know that I'm not coming out any worse that 650 unless I throw it like a complete chump. The ball is just so smooth and easy to work with that it's sick. With this drilling and coverstock prep, the ball glides past the arrows, revs strong in the  mid and delivers a very smooth and powerful backend with exceptional hit. I've seen other players make it look good from deeper inside angles, but I think the ball is best suited for straighter lines. But in either case, the ball will do what you want it to do if you prep it properly. The only reason I can see someone not liking this ball is if they drill or prep it too aggressively and cause it to burn up, because it will keep you in play all night long if you lay it out correctly and use it  on the right conditions. A simply outstanding bowling ball. 10 out of 10.

All I have to say about this ball is, it rocks! I throw almost exactly as the illustration shows, about 25 to 15. It does exactly as it shows, and hits hard! I shinned it up a bit to tame the hook, but there's no stopping this ball. I haven't had it long, just a little over a month, but my best series thus far is a 734. Specs aren't as important as hitting your mark. I will be testing my UI in a state tourney on 4/9. She hardly ever has let me down.

This is one of the best balls I've ever thrown. It comes through the heads real sweet and has one of the most controllable breaking points I've ever had to work with. It hits hard at the end, real hard. When you find the pocket, this ball WILL do all in its power to strike. If you leave pins, it's all your fault.

The only downside was that I had to take a lot of hand out of the ball to control the hook.

Very strong ball. It is about 5-8 boards stronger than my Inferno. When yu shine the ball it gets better length and a strong backend reaction. Very good all around ball.

Stroker
15 pounds
Heavy Oil Ball
Wetsanded to 800 grit
Pin under middle (rh)

I have thrown this ball for 3 sets now and I must say that I am extremely impressed with this ball.  I have an absolute and an intense and this ball is just as amazing as those two.  I have averaged about 210 with this ball so far, but I may not see lanes that consistently are wet enough where I will need this ball first outta my bag.  I may have to futz around with the cover to make it more of a longer ball so I can use it more frequently.  Needless to say it hits like a ton of bricks and is very versatile depending on how much hand I put into it and what line I want to shoot with it.  Way to go Brunswick, you got another winner.  I am so impressed with the Inferno line and I had to pick this up.  It's great.

A+ Brunswick.

Thanks,
Jeff

Drilled: 3-3/8 x 5

A great compliment ball to the Raging Inferno. It's very clean through the heads and has great recovery on the backend. On THS it's works perfectly. Even when the lanes are medium where there is dry to the right a little hold in the middle this ball still absolutely amazing. I am very impress.

ball specs:
16#
3in pin
top ?

i truly beleve i got a blem with this ball. i was absolutly disgusted with it. witch is compleatly unlike the others i have seen. the driller said it was drilled incredibly weak and he would never drill any thing like that. well i through it and i watched it go down the lane, farther, farther, farther until it was at about 50ft no exaguration and then the bright yellow wrighting scrambled all over the ball. the UI flipped at 50ft from 7 and hit the pocket flush! the only problem was it left a 7 pin(lefty) and again and again. the ball couldent carry to save its life once again no exagurations it might have carried about 15 strikes in about 35-40 games i hated it so i traded it. dont think i dislike brunswick now because i know deep down that its a blem. and i cant wait for the SMOKIN INFERNO! i am getting one of those.

Given the amount of previously posted POSITIVE reviews of this ball, could it be possible that you used it on an inappropriate condition, or just threw it wrong??

Since I hvae had this ball for several months now and been slacking on reviews here is a "real" review:

15lbs.
3" pin
3oz top approx.
Drilled 3 1/2 x 5 (pin to MB)
Weight hole outside the PAP

1st of all I have put about 100 games on it so far and it has no signs of stopping as long is it is cleaned properly (clean and dull or knock out after league every night).

Playing a little 10-5/12-5 bump off of the dry on a THS, ball revs up in the mids and once it hits the breakpoint, makes a hard and continuous arc through the pins. Ball hits very hard and pins stay fairly low, increasing carry %. Have used in 2 different houses playing a similar line in both. Have used it a lot during our summer sport league for a couple of shots a 44 foot flat pattern and a 38 foot flood. 44 feet started playing right up 5 with some fingers and UI seemed to cut through the oil and make its arc into the pocket without problem. Once it started to go high, I started moving in deeper and deeper. It seemed the more I moved in the more it hooked. Ended up playing 22 out to about 8 (or trying to anyways) until I finally put it away for another ball. 38 foor shot was able to play outside and stay there for there was enough oil up front (and no other lefties on the pair) for me to stay between 5-7 all night. Carry was an issue, ball was hitting the pocket but not carrying corners so switched to something else that had more backend (Absolute).

Overall this ball is first out of the bag in practice every night in league gives me a very good read on the lanes. Have tried different sufraces on the ball from 500 grit to 1500 grit with High gloss polish and the best surface for me has been at 1200 sanded. The UI is very predictable and controllable on a THS, and hits hard.
