Ambush = control ball?
« on: June 15, 2006, 01:42:11 AM »
Hey eveyone,

As the weeks go by in my summer pro shot (we rotate each of the 5 PBA senior/regional patterns) league, I've noticed a real need for a ball that reads in the midlane but offers a very smooth and tame move on the backend. Could an Ambush, with the right drilling of course, potentially be such a ball? I'm thinking that the pearl particle cover will allow it to read and keep it from being too flippy at the breakpoint. There's not much being said about this ball, so I figured I'd appeal to the nation for  help. What do you guys/gals think?

I agree, this ball is very smooth. Rivals the smoothness of a shiny V2, not many balls can make that claim. Very good at inside angles, the particle cover provides enough traction to kick out the 10 pin from deep. That being said its a little long for me when I play it straighter, perhaps a smoother sand (1000-2000 abralon) would solve that. My Ambush is pin down, a friend of mine has one pin up (over bridge) and imo it lopes too much thru the front. You can see my profile for a pic.

The Ambush is probably the most underrated ball on the market period.  The reaction you are looking for is exactly what this ball does.  My Ambushes without a doubt have the most games on them out of all my gear.  My favourite is my Rico'd one though.  SMOOOOTTTTTHHHH as butter.

Ambush = Excellent control ball

You won't catch me without my Ambush in the bag on any difficult pattern. Mine is under middle, polished over box. Makes a great medium, lighter/medium control ball. But the only use it sees outside of difficult shots is as my spare ball, too smooth for my house shots.
