Possible arsenal
« on: January 19, 2011, 01:45:23 PM »
Thinkin about going to Brunswick after this college bowling season is over... heard a lot of good things about it and i am wanting to try them out... i did a little research and if i could compare my style it would be similar (if we wanna stay brunswick) i would say sean rash.... but here is an arsenal im thinkin...does this sound like it would cover most college conditions?

Heavy- c system alpha max

ball down1- wicked siege

ball down2- loaded revolver (anaconda?)

ball down3- damage

ball down4- slingshot

spare- invizibal (the one that looks like wood.. that one is sweet lookin going down lane)

Basically i want to have a versitle, complimentary  arsenal to combat most college patterns.  I also wouldnt mind if anyone might have some surface suggestions for any of these balls. So what do you guys think???

To have a true Tournament arsenal why would you limit yourself to one company??? Yeah I used to be the same way but now I throw what strikes... I been using alot of ebonite equipment but I hadnt been playn tournys either. To me, it just makes sense to use every companys best pieces and go from there. Below I think would be the best arsenal money could buy!

Heavy Oiler: Prodigy or Invasion

Heavy Med: Mission Domination or Taboo

Med: Mission 2.0 or C System 4.5

Light: 300C or Urethane Avalanch

And then of course Plastic

I had a all Brunswick arsenal at one time, but I didnt like it for alot of reasons. I bowled alot better in tournys though than I did on league night because the stuff rolls so hard in the mids. You can do what you want, but with these new realeases coming out youd be crazy not to... John

That sounds like a good arsenal.  My only change would be putting the loaded revolver above the wicked siege.  Even though they have the same coverstock, the loaded revolver has a lower RG which will start sooner than the wicked siege.  The damage has a higher RG than the wicked, and the slingshot has the highest RG which is good for when the lanes really break down and you need a ball that gets down the lane.  The surface adjustments would be personal preference after you throw them for a few games.  Also, I would suggest drilling the damage and slingshot a little stronger because of the lower RG core which will help the overall reaction.  I would work with your pro shop guy in getting them drilled so that you can step down from the list that you created.

I actually think it looks pretty good. May think about swapping the slingshot with a urethane avalanche. It's a little more predictable for me at least.

As for sticking with one brand, I don't see it being a problem with Brunswick. They have an extremely wide variety of equipment, and with $125 worth of REBATES on balls you have listed, they are the best deal in bowling right now, in my opinion.

Just want to throw in a few ideas, if you are considering surface changes to make this an easier "ball down step". The Revolver and Anaconda IMO take very well to surface changes and versatility. I haven't had a chance to change alot with my Wicked Siege yet. I do agree with replacing the slingshot with the Avalanche Urethane, like someone above suggested. It could even double as a spare ball opening up another spot in your bag?

Not being affiliated with any ball company in any way, I'm just going to say it seems silly to me to limit your arsenal to one company. Having said that I have loved just about every brunswick ball I have owned. But as long as you aren't on there staff, why limit yourself?

Your proposed arsenal looks good to me.   It looks like you have plenty of variety and some great products.  Just talk things over with your proshop operator so you can use the optimal layouts and stagger your surfaces so the balls work the best they possibly can together.

There is a lot of good stuff on the market, but to be honest Brunswick has a ball to suit every need out there.

At the lower end I would recommend not forgetting about the avalanche series.  I used the slide a lot late in the blocks in college.  It would get down lane pretty easily, while having enough finish to let me get left and not worry about poor pin carry.

I like it. Only a small change or mod

Heavy- c system alpha max

ball down1- wicked siege

ball slightly down2- loaded revolver  (has same cover as Wicked with different finish and core)

ball down 3 (anaconda?)

ball down4- damage

ball down5- slingshot

spare- invizibal (the one that looks like wood.. that one is sweet lookin going down lane)

Be good, or be good at it.
