801 with Slingshot
« on: March 24, 2010, 04:57:12 PM »
Congrats go out to Matt Duty from Milwaukee for shooting an 801 with the all-new Slingshot Red/Silver. He bowled on my Nationals team last year, and this is the first honor score I''ve heard so far since the release!

Good job HOSS... tell Joey I asked if he got Brew Crew Tix for the Dodger series yet!!!

Yea I saw that, just wondering how much one from a pro shop drilled with fingers and a thumb slug would be.

I just noticed that Brunswicks website rates the Slingshot as having less hook potential and more length then the Groove series. Bowlingball.com goes the other way and with the perfect hook scale puts the Slingshot in at 175 with the Power Groove only being at 74.9

Any one try both and care to elaborate and if they are indeed similar or one hooks that much more then the other?

I have both the power groove and the black/silver slingshot pretty close to drilled the same and the power groove is definately stronger and more angular than the slingshot.  My slingshot is the smoothest rolling ball i have ever thrown and usually that a bad thing for me cause i cant get the corner out not with this gem no trouble getting corner out.  It has just enough turn to do the job.

Hey Nick,

I also shot 300 tonight in couples league with the Slingshot.  The lay out on it is dual angle 60 by 65 drill angles, 4 5/8 pin to pap which puts the pin just below and right of my ring finger, hit it with a 500 pad and then a beat up 1000 pad to smooth out the backend.  We were fearful that with my speed, anything shiny would go too long.  Another GREAT nugget from "B".

It''s probably a good thing when your new entry level ball is seeing 300s and 800s in it''s first week.

Great job to you MattDuty on the 300 game, too!

Thank you all.  This ball rolls so nice.  Very predictable.  Keeps the pins very low, and stores so much energy.  I threw it compared to the slide, and the slide has much more push and more angular off the spot.  Once I burned a hole I should have switched to the slide to get a little more length.
