I am just getting back into bowling after a few years off, and I have no real technical knowledge of balls and drillings and such. I bowled in High School, but I usually just let my pro shop handle the details of the drilling. I'd suggest what I'd want the ball to do, but he would take care of the rest. Thus, I have no clue what my PAP is, what my track is, etc.
I was hoping to gain a bit more insight into the technical side of my game with this post. Obviously, you can't figure out my PAP for me, but I think you can help with coverstock/core selections. I'm hoping that given some information, you guys can help me figure out what kind of balls work for me so I know what to buy for my next ball.
I have had great success with 3 balls in High School, my Zone Classic (best ball I ever threw), Absolute Inferno, and a dead, polished up AMF Fusion Hook Monster that I used on light oil. Those 3 ended up covering just about any conditions I saw (we didn't get a lot of oil).
On the flip side, I never quite could consistently throw a BVP Punisher, Monster Bruiser, or Storm Flash Point

I had some good sets but was inconsistent with a Monster Green/Black and a Silver Johnny Pretraglia ball.
For a bit more background, I throw about 17-18 MPH (heads) with medium revs. My ball spins sort of on its side, I'd guess around 45 degrees. My Zone Classic was the best ball I have ever owned, and its drilled stacked.
Is there anything specifically that seems to work for me? I can tell I like the activator coverstock, but anything more technical than that I have no idea about. Anything particular I should look for or avoid when picking out a new ball?
