Title: A quick dose of Absolute help please, Nation...
Post by: lefty50 on March 03, 2005, 06:27:08 AM
Got my Absolute yesterday, getting it ready for Baton Rouge this weekend.

Bearing in mind it's only got 3 games on it, what r your thoughts on the following:

When it hits, pins go boom. Standard excellent Inferno.

However, half the time, it seems to make the turn and appears to roll out....

Would that most likely be:

1. It's really hitting carrydown, not rolling out (left side, I'm doubting it)
2. My early drill, 4.5 from PAP and CG stacked below midline, is too strong for THS. Wait for Baton Rouge, don't change anything.
3. Take the surface down to 600
4. Since I'm a low rev kind of guy, take out the 1/4 oz side and go with negative side, (I've also got 1/8 thumb in it now)
5. Give it some time to get a track, all is well....

Thoughts appreciated.

First, do you actually know it was rolling out?  Did it just seem to lose energy, then hit like a wet noodle?  I dont mean not strike, but you'd definitely notice a difference in sound and stuff.

Good question. I did not perceive it to lose energy, and I'm not great at proving roll-out. It would hit the breakpoint, turn, and tail off, not sure how else to describe it.

I would say to do all 5 of your listed items and then let us know how that worked out for you.

Sigh... Flux, you can't change weights and give it time.... Let's deal with probabilities here....

BrunsRicH et al, any feedback ?

If it were me, I'd wait until you get to Baton Rouge.  If you need any adjustments while you're there, the guys in the Brunswick booth will take care of you.

I was going to try to make a recommendation, but i think Dusty has the best approach.  Why set it up for the THS when you'll have to change it for BR anyways?

I would leave it alone also. I've never found the Nationals shot anything like my house shot and I doubt a ball with a hook/set reaction on house shot would do same in Baton Rouge. Plus, you have the benefit of the Big B booth in BR.

Tough for a ball to roll out playing fifth arrow at Baton Rouge.

So be it. Barring further input, it'll be BR or bust, then we'll see what happens.
