Fury Pearl Touring Edition opinions
« on: April 24, 2008, 03:27:56 PM »
I'd like to hear how this ball, FPTE, compares to other balls in the Brunswick lineup, or other brands of balls.

It seems very interesting, but the Brunswick numbers of Length, Breakpoint Shape, and Hook potential, say the Avalanche Solid is very close in overal behavior; so I was wondering.

Thanks in advance.

In comparison to the Alalanche pearl 5" pin, there is about 2 boards with your feet difference in total hook.  Down lane movement on THS, Ava pearl get down the lane about 2-3 feet farther.

Not taking into account layouts.  Mine have the same pin to PAP distance but the avalanche has a 2" pin buffer vs 3.5" for the Fury TE (2" pin, pin in middle finger drilled out).

I like the difference, small but a different look with the break point.

Hope that helps.

I have both balls, and both are drilled with the pin 5" from PAP above the fingers, with no balance holes.  I did re-do the surface on the Fury Pearl TE, though, taking it down to 320 and applying a coat of Rough Buff.

For me, the FPTE is about three boards stronger overall, with all of that coming off of the friction.  Both balls pretty much ignore the first 30 feet of the lane, but the FP is significantly more responsive when it hits the dry.  So it's not quite as good for me as the Av on a condition where I have to go more direct and battle transition, but it shines when I can get my feet deeper and play more for recovery.

I don't have the FPTE, but if Bracket Creep says it I believe it! He's a source of reliable information here...
