Questiong about the Power grooves
« on: June 09, 2005, 10:26:24 PM »
On shorter patterns and if the lanes are dry,my battle zone bullet is a bit to strong. I am going to purchase a new ball for this.  Would the battle zone be too similar to the power groove. Should I get the power groove or the dry/r?
Which would be the better step down?

My battle zone is drilled like this.

As far as I know, the BZ Bullet and the current pearl Power Grooves share the same PK 17 coverstock, and on medium top dry they are quite strong balls. If your Bullet is too much on dry ground, go for the PG Dry/R which offers more length - or consider the Urethane Groove. Not as fancy, but on dry ground the more even and probably controllable option.

Another vote here for the Dry/R.

Ta 152 is correct.  The urethane Grooves have the pancake, but no cylinders.

I have two power grooves and have thrown the bullett quiet a bit a few years back. I have one power groove punched up like this
------
-O-O--
-----o-
------
------
------*
--O----X

and my other one is drilled like this
------
-O-O--
------
---o---
------
------*
--O-----X

The first one tends to be skid snap and would probly be to aggesive for what you are looking for. However, the second one would probly work great for dry lanes. I bowled a 12 gamer a couple weeks ago I was playing the burnt track line while everyone else was playing a bump shot off the dry (around 20 to 25 at the arrows out to ten). This ball is so weak I put everything I had on it playing third arrow out on a house shot and slowed down my speed and left a lilly (5,7,10). If you put this on the dry R I could only imagine.
