Told my friend to soak his ball in a bucket of hot water and simple green... Well, guess he didn't understand just how much simple green to use. He went 50/50 and it came out like this!! LOL

Yeah, I hit it with 320 then rough buff. All the phasing went away, but I pointed and laughed at him for a few minutes. He also earned a lifetime supply of pokes and jabs at his expense. lol

Mine did the exact same thing. It took quiet some time for that foggy effect to go away and it still isn't completey gone.

One thing everyone tends to forget is the simple fact of physics. If the material is porous and capable of soaking up lane oil, it is also capable of soaking up water or cleaning solution.

A friend of mine had two of his balls stolen.  The culprit got scared and threw them in a small pond close by his house.  A few days later they were recovered, but we NEVER got them to look right again. and the sonic would hook almost twice as much as before.  Wierd, but true.

P.S. If you have any doubt that the ball will soak up water, put the ball in a wet spot and leave it for a day or two. It will be discolored in the area it was sitting on the moisture.

Learn to laugh, and love, and smile, cause we’re only here for a little while.

How about a bucket of hot water and dawn dishwashing liquid.

Ebo-Knight, I understand where your coming from, but 15-20mins is alot different than a couple of days.  Most of what is soaked up is still relatively close to the surface and can be evaporated away.  Just wondering, Nick, howde the ball roll after it was restored to the factory finish?

Well, I just gave my old fuze a bath.  I put some tape around the fingers, thumb and weighthole.  You'll notice that there is a slight difference between the covered areas (old cover) and new....Oh yeah, don't mind the massive amount of beltmarks and grime, I didn't bother to clean it off.  But without further adieu...

The Absolute was fine after cleaning and rough buff.

Really tacky!

I soaked my Absolute, Ultimate and Scorchin' yesterday.  The Absolute and Ultimate came out unblemished.  The Scorchin's internal color appears to have changed quite a bit to having whiter blotches in certain spots.  It does not appear to be a residue as I only soaked it for about 20 minutes with soap (three tablespoons) then 20-25 without.  I also wiped all 3 down after with a mixture of Simple Green/H20.

I used the instructions posted the 'miscellaneous - bowling related forum'.

Any thoughts on the Scorchin's change??

Ya know, I've argued over who had to take the wet spot before, but it never occured to me to put a bowling ball there...I've always just used a towel

With a name like Deadwood I would think you would be from my state (SD).  I probably won't take any for a polish as I want them all dull - to match the guy who throws them!

I didn't tape the holes.  If you look at the instructions in this forum from Morich it doesn''t say anything about taping the holes either.  I followed their instructions.
