Title: Absolute vs Backyard Bully......
Post by: Monster Stitch on March 03, 2005, 03:10:03 AM
What are the huge significant differences between these two balls
besides being pearlize and being angular on the backend?

One has a Big B and the other one has a "C".

In theory, they are very similar.  Not an awful lot of feedback on the BYB but the AI seems to have a lot of happy owners.  The Activator(and A+) coverstocks that Big B is implementing right now are right on the money.

I know someone who owns both, and for him, the Backyard is straighter in front and in the midlane, and much sharper at the break than the Absolute.  Both balls are in box condition, and drilled similarly.

NO comparison... one ball is fantastic the other hits like a potato.... the backyard bully is the most unimpressive bully.... columbia midline is great and the big bully is probably the best bully so far... the absolute inferno is just the best ball on the market right now... no question... and columbia has to deal with that.... end of story

Totally disagree with this persons statement. I bet he has not even thrown a backyard bully, well I have and love the ball..

I have tried all the bully's and the by bully has been the best for me..

There is no doubt the absolute infernos is a great ball but so is the by bully.. As far as comparison, sorry can't help you there..

If they only made a ball that would carry that da_n 7 pin (and I am right handed!!)

Seems like the Backyard goes longer and turns the corner harder.
It seems the Absolute rolls earlier and is more hard arc at the back end.

Correct me if I'm wrong, and Lord knows it happens enough,  but the BYB is 2000 grit polished and the "rough buff" for the Absolute is around 1000 grit polished.  There would be your "goes longer/ealier midlane roll" explanation.  If the two were prepared similarly, I would imagine you'd have very similar results.

Thanks Bob.

I just got my Absolute in the mail today. Deciding how to drill it.

Since i have my backyard with the Pin under i think i'll go with the pin over
with the Absolute.

I don't know about the others on this forum, but I've been hit by a potato before.  If it's thrown with sufficient velocity, the impact will *hurt.*
