Struggle looking for a Dry Lane Ball.
« on: February 21, 2006, 11:50:53 AM »
Right now I am in the persute of a Dry Lane ball. I have been looking at three different choices. The Slate Blue Gargoyle by Visionary, Groove Urathane, or Power Groove Dry/R. I was leaning towards the Gargoyle until my friend recently witnessed one at a tournament that snapped in oil. So I thought about the Groove Urathane but I know Urathane wants to start up early so that got me thinking about the Dry/R. I have High Revs and High Track. My Smokin' can not be used on anything less than true Medium Oil and is a true Medium Heavy Oil ball for me. When you suggest a ball, could you suggest a drilling pattern as well? I was thinking of a few but wasn't sure if they would work.
Thanks.

Haha, I was actually refering to the tournament when everyone but me seemed to be using a Total Shock and Awe while I was using my trusty Intense.

Yeah well, it doesn't matter, even plastic blows a hole in the pattern after three shots at Slate-Belt. That is all your line is good for...three shots and it's gone.

if u drill a Dry/r and u are a high track player... get a long pin out.. like 4 icnches.. because it dont flare very much and will clip the finger holes most likely

is there a huge difference between the punisher and the dry R?  Im a cranker and I am using an Abso.  Im bowling 2nd shift and the lanes seem to break down in 1 game.  Usually in the 2nd+3rd game my left slide foot is in the gutter and Im throwing all the way to the other gutter. I don't like playing this line so any tips would be appreciated.

First off the absolute is money. Second if you want less hook or later reaction so you can move right just polish it up. If you are forced to play that line then next time you practice just work on that line a little more. My favorite lane conditions are when they are burnt and i have to move left and even have to loft a little over the gutter.

I had the Lane#1 XXXL, the Ebonite V2 Dry, The Power Groove Dry/R, and The Columbia Panic.  My choice for dry lanes: A Viz-A-Ball!!! The Dry/R hooked a lot with a label drilling. The Panic hooked a lot with the pin above my bridge! The V2 Dry didn't hook, but it also didn't hit. Finally the viz-a-ball just rolled better and hit harder than the XXXL.
