anyone play around with the surface of their scorchin? if so what did you like the best and for what lane surface did you use it on?

I've used it on both synthetics and on wood lanes. After putting a little polish (not an extreme gloss) on it I was able to use it more often. It also hits harder after the shine. Don't be afraid to try this, too.

No, I left mine in box finish, as it's the best ball I've got for playing longer, flatter patterns.

800 grit plus a light coat of Finesse-It II.

It gets down lane, but still handles the occasional oil that we see around here. However, even with the polish, it's still a sponge.

I have a Scorchin' that I took up to 1500 using wet sand.  I get all the hook that I need.  If I ever need it to hook more, I just pull out a burgandy scotch brite pad that I keep in my bag and rough it up during practice.  I never need to change the surface for league play, only tournaments.
