Any chance Brunswick would mess up a batch of Vapor Zones?
« on: June 21, 2006, 03:44:04 PM »
Well....maybe mess up is the wrong word to use.  But what I mean is a batch like we saw with the Classic Zone Red Pins which were a weaker breed of the Activator.  Just a harder version of Activator+?  Or would this not be possible due to the new "state of the art" facilities in Brunswick's new plant?  I assume the new equipment is some sort of prevention against the "hard" batches of Classics, Blazing, and Ultimate Infernos(blue) that were seen on the Internet.

Having problems or just a general question?

On a related subject, i'm curious if the problems with the Classic's and Blazings are what pushed Brunswick to finally make the update in there equipment.

Just a Q....

I always wanted to try a Vapor, but it's no way I'd be able to use it anywhere with the Short Volume medium length or high volume short patterns seen all over the mid-atlantic and northern east coast.

Weren't the Blue UI's just a color blem?  I thought that was an error involving UI's and Uranium Solids?

you call the red pin a problem? that ball rolls GREAT from what i've seen.

Weather or not they rolled great they were a Blem plain and simple.

And if I remember correctly, the Blue Ultimate Infernos were specially made for Bowlingball.com

You'd be surprised how versatile Activator cover can be. Slap on a high pin drilling and some high gloss polish and you can use it on medium/lighter conditions.

...Still not sure if that would work Joe.  It probaly would for me in fresher blocks of tournaments since I'm a bit speed dominant, but keeping high pin drills with high gloss is usually the solution around here to keep the Classic Zones from rolling too early.  The Vapor is MUCH stronger.  I can only think of 3 houses locally(out of about 12) that lays down enough volume on their fresh #1 shot to be able to use any of the Activator+ shells and even then the volume doesn't stay for more than 12-16 frames without some sort of drastic change.  I am participating in a scratch tournament series that tries to lay down tougher shots at every stop, but even then most play on the shorter/lighter side to stop guys from being able to use bigger equipment to wear down the condition to the point it turns into a scorefest.

Oh yeah, on the Ultimate Blue, I have a friend that has one and it rolls noticably weaker than his regular Ultimate and the drillings aren't that far off to be a 4-6 board gap between them.  Has anyone else seen the difference in the Blue Ultimate roll?

My VZ is kind of similar. I drilled it up for fall leagues and was doing amazing with it. In summer, we get a lower volume of oil and the humidity. So lanes start of dry and break down quicker. Either it overreacts a ton or it burns out early. So for a low volume pattern, the VZ is near useless, but then again, I'm a high rev/speed player. It may work for someone w/ less revs.
