Zone with golden band?
« on: January 18, 2005, 10:24:13 PM »
A friend of mine has a bowling ball I am trying to identify. I have not seen the ball myself. According to my friend it's a Zone with a 1-2" wide golden band that goes all around. It's undrilled and dates back to 1995-1996, he thinks. Does anypne here know what this might be?

Sounds more like a Quantum Helix to me, I can't remember any Zones with gold bands around it. Ask your friend if it looks like this.

That's the one! Thanks JPRLane1! My friend has kept this ball outside his house near where he parks the car for roughly six months. I told him to carry it inside the house and let it thaw at least 24 hours before trying to clean it.

What conditions would this ball be best suited for nowadays? Medium to light oil perhaps?

Basically yea. The gold band around it is urethane, so that when you release the ball, it clears the heads very well rolling on urethane, then when it flares it starts to roll on the outer part which is reactive. Pretty nifty idea! Light oil is about the name of the game for that ball anymore.

the ball comes in both right and left handed - so you may want to determine which one he's got...

Yeah this ball was one of the strongest backend balls I've ever owned. So clean thru the urethane strip, then BAM! Helloooooo Reactive!
