What Brunswick ball would be a good fit between my Sapphire Pearl and my Dry/R? I want something just as clean through the fronts and smooth on the backends like the Dry/R. But I need something more angular and just slightly stronger than the Dry/R. I currently have a Power Groove, Ebonite Nitro, and a Plastic ball I thought about trying to tweak into this role, but I don't think any of them will work for what I really looking for. I got the Control Zone for this issue I am having, but it is just such a heavy early rolling ball for me I just can't get the look I want. Looking for any suggestions, old or new Brunswick equipment I'm not picky.

If you can still find one, an Avalanche Slide might fit in there - you will need to layout the ball for a mild back end, but it will be smooth on the front end. The Slide I have is over all milder than the Rhino Purple Pro I also have in the bag, both at 2000 Abralon smooth - however the Slide will really react to friction on the back end, with stronger layouts.

 

I guess I should add that my Slingshot gets more use than the Avalanche Slide. As I get older I get more rev dominant; which means standing at 50 and throwing over 20, with stronger "high performance" equipment. The Slingshot at 2000 Abralon rough has a more even, less angular line to the pocket than the Slide. The Slingshot, especially since they go for pocket change might be something you would want to try.

I think the Slingshot should do what you are asking for. For a more smooth backend just go pin down. The cover gets easy length, too.

I thought you had gathered enough info in your last post about the Dry/R and the SLingshot?
 
Both the Slingshot and the Power Groove should fit into the slot you wan, depending on drilling and your release. Nothing has changed that. Because of the differential, the PG should have more backend than the Slingshot IF they were drilled the same. DIfferent drillings will bring them closer. Both are weaker than a good condition Sapphire Pearl and stronger than a Dry/R

My PG is drilled pin up stacked with a 2" inch pin and is very jumpy on the backend and is not as smooth as the Dry/R. My Dry/R is pin under stack with 3" pin. Yes the PG is a longer ball than the Sap Pearl, but for the most part my it is just as strong as the Sap Pearl. I have dulled the surface of the PG with some Track 1500 polish which has helped take some of the jumpiness out of it. Since my last post the league has changed the shot from heavy to light because of some people complaining. I don't throw the ball very hard, say about 15-16mph tops and I have a lot of side revs for my speed. Which is why I love the Dry/R. I ask a lot of questions because I know the people on here know their stuff and I am fairly new to the sport. Don't mean to offend only learn from those who know.

If it's that light and you want something stronger than the Dry/R and you still want smooth, the Slingshot is the answer.
