Question about my Vapor Zone
« on: April 23, 2007, 08:13:06 AM »
My Vapor Zone is drilled 3 3/8s Pin to PAP with a Hole somewhere around my PAP (Not sure where but I do believe it's to increase flare). The Ball is over flaring. If I plugged it and drilled it weaker would the effects of the hole still have an effect on the ball?

Maybe you could just plug the side flare hole and see if that will tame the over flare before you have to do a re-drill. Just a thought.

Short answer: maybe.

The details are a little incomplete to give an accurate answer.

1.) You don't seem to know for sure if it is a flare increasing x-hole.
2.) It's unclear whether you originally meant a full replug, or a plug of the finger/thumb but leave the x-hole, or plug the x-hole only.

I'll expound a little on #2 above:
- A full replug would rather obviously allow you to reduce flare potential. I kinda didn't think you meant this one anyway.
- Plugging the x-hole only would allow you to opt for a flare reducing x-hole, which would most likely keep you from over-flaring.
- If plugging only the gripping holes, but leaving the original x-hole, we can't definitively give you a response, without knowing your PAP, the actual location of the original x-hole, and the pin distance above midline. It's entirely possible to keep the x-hole in the flare increasing position, but raise or lower the pin; to alter the layout and land the original x-hole on your axis; or even, depending on your axis measurements, increase the pin to PAP distance and land the original x-hole in a flare reducing position.

Need more info.

It's a flare increasing hole. I was just going to plug it all and drill it 4 1/2 inches from PAP instead.

A full replug at 4.5" P2P with no x-hole would flare a lot less than your current drilling.

Edit: I never mentioned that, originally, at 3-3/8" P2P + flare increasing hole, you're beyond the limits of the track flare effect. With that in mind, just going from 3-3/8" to 4.5", may not quite give you the length you're looking for. You might consider going on out to 5" or 5.5".
