Anybody thrown the mastermind?
« on: November 15, 2013, 04:57:02 PM »
Just ordered mine today. Just curious on opinions and thoughts thus far. This is my first brunswick piece since the alpha max which didn't go over well for me.

Comparatively, the Alpha Max was not nearly as versatile.  The Mastermind will save a lot more for the back end of the lane.  Even at the factory surface, it's cleaner through the front than it looks, but I plan to tweak mine slightly to around 3000-4000 so I can use it more often.

Put your favorite layout on it and let it do it's thing.

Thanks for the input. I have no pin down pieces in my arsenal so that is the plan. Pin under bridge CG kicked just a hair. It's gonna be fun can't wait until Monday for delivery.

The Alpha Max was supposed to be a big hooking big backend ball!

What happened?  What was the matter with it?

Bought it off the rack used and it fit somewhat well but wasn't payed out for my game axis etc. Based off the guy before me not keeping it long I think it may have been a dud. Really excited about the mastermind however

LuckyLefty,

I polished my Alpha Max to help create late movement, but the Mastermind seems to be able do it with surface!  That is the big difference from my perspective, and the conditions I see.  The Alpha Max was a step in the right direction, while the Mastermind takes it further.  The orange on mine is REALLY bright, too.  Almost need sunglasses...

I threw the Mastermind the other night.  Pin over ring, for me 45 x 5" x 35.  I couldn't believe a dull ball could backend like that, let alone still be able to use it in the third game.  I just kept moving left.  I have never seen a Brunswick ball with that look.  The only ball that I can compare it to was my original Virtual Gravity.

Hope that helps.

Oh yeah the original virtual is one of my all time favorites. It's kinda ironic the color scheme is the same ;) not that it matters. So stoked to give it a dance Monday night in my scratch league. Best thing is I'm bowling against a bunch if brunswick staffers. It's gonna be a fun one.
