Pretty... cool job. It would be nice if we could have such a graph for ANY ball around here, but I think it would be hard to develop and to maintain.

Is the chart based on subjective experience? OOB surface(s)?

Brunswick has a chart like that for their stuff.  Inspiration, I assume?

It would be easier to understand if instead of putting "ARC" on the upper arm, that you wrote "Skid/snap" instead.  The bottom one says "ARC" and means it, the left and right say "Heavy" and "Light", so having the top say "ARC" but mean "Skid/snap" (which is also at the very top) is confusing and requires one to look outside the chart to find out what's going on.

thanks for the advice, i will fix it later on tonight.

all info is based on OOB finishes, it took about 3 hours to get to this point.
there were alot of glitches that i had to iron out to get it to display correctly.

everything is based on OOB surface except the almighty, which OOB is 600 grit with polish, now its 320 grit scotchbrite w/ rough buff finish.

eventually ill make each dot of the graph into a link, a new page will open display the ball, the layout, and a short description of my experiences with it, with 21 balls, its going to take alot of work, but its the offseason right?

i also have my for sale/trade page up with the almighty, and a secure paypal cart.

http://megamav.fortunecity.com/forSale.html

and a bowling links page.

http://members.fortunecity.com/megamav/bowling/html/bowlinglinks.htm

keep the feedback coming, new pages will include a bowling blog, company specific pages, for sale/trade page, 3 ball line up listings, reader response/recommendation bulletin board.

any other ideas?

Based on your chart, would it be accurate for me to say that you get the earliest reaction from your Quantum Raven?  If you have thrown a Scorchin' Inferno, where would you put the symbol for one of those on your chart?

Very interesting graph by the way.  Thanks for the effort you put into it!

thank you for taking the time to look into it, and give me feedback

technically its "my" usability chart, i dont want that to sound snotty, but it is a representation of:

1. Personal Experience
2. General Reputation of the ball
3. Intended drilling for undrilled balls.
4. Intended Use (most important)

the last point is most important, generally im not a big swing high rev player, so playing straighter GENERALLY will allow a ball to be used on heavier oil than a cranker swinging the lane, as less energy is spent getting the ball to even out then charge to the pocket.

no i have not drilled a scorchin inferno, nor used one, this chart is about representing balls by comparison to other balls on the chart.

if i were to place it, it would probably be closer to the right edge probably right of the bottom absolute. (upward comparison)

it is not intended to be a "ball reaction chart" that brunswick has to promote general oil handling for the masses.

this is a work in progress, and your comments are greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

one would think they would be closer together, but they are not, you can see the layouts in my profile.

the original inferno seems to handle carrydown much better and is a later rolling ball.

the pearl uranium is an earlier rolling ball, but with generous axis rotation, just skids past the break point with any carrydown, even light.

odd, especially for 2 balls very close to each other with core/cover.

are you mistaking the sapphire color for the uranium color?

i had the honor of speaking with parker for a good amount of time in march for a fundraiser, i asked him what his favorite brunswick balls of all time were and he made no mention of the tracer.

he said, clearly and concisely, speed zone.

and i asked, how about sapphire zone, he said yeah, that too.

yes i have 3 combat zone tracers, best ball pound for pound IMO, 2nd only to the danger zone.

layouts of each in my profile, 1 is in the wings, waiting for a 1E layout.
