I can't decide! Absolute or Vapor?
« on: December 27, 2005, 08:35:34 AM »
I have money in hand ready to order a new ball as a Christmas present. I really can't decide which ball to get to add to my arsenal. See profile for which one I should get. I've heard great things about both. I primarily use my Smokin Inferno, so I'm looking for something that gives me a different look on the lanes from that. As of now I'm leaning towards the Absolute because from what I've heard it will have slightly less backend and rolls a bit earlier. I think if this is true it will give me a much different look than the Smokin I have now. Please help me so I can order soon.

Get the Absolute first then later get the Vapor Zone once u find out which spot you need it to fill because the Vapor is easier to fine tune.

I have both and drilled different. AI drilling (4 1/2 x 3 3/4 pin 2" above mid) is more flippy on the back while my Vapor (4 1/2 x 3 1/4 pin 0" above, almost Rico) is very smooth and continous. Both are at 2000 Abralon surface. Vapor has more options due to Asym core (and $40 cheaper), I would go that route. It should compliment your Smoking nicely.

Price isn't a concern. The Vapor is only about $20 cheaper via buddies where I plan to purchase from. I'm making the purchase solely on performance.

absolute is a particle shell.. particles dont last... this is the only Inferno I will NOT buy, and it for that reason alone.

First off, the absolute is NOT particle.  I have no idea where you got that from.  And second off, the particle ball-death thing is pretty much a myth.  That only happens to people who never clean their equipment and wonder why it dies...

AI and Vapor are identical except for the core.  It really gets down to whether you want a little more versatility with the AI, or a little more fine tuning out of the Vapor.  I don't think you can go wrong with either one.  I have found Brunswick asymetrical cores to be more condition specific when it comes to carrying.  If I was bowling on quite a few different conditions, I would opt for the AI.

I'm looking for something that is versatile. What exactly do you mean by the fine tuning of the Vapor?

He is talking about the asymmetry of the Vapor.  You know, how the PSA adds another dimension to laying out the ball, therefore being able to fine tune more.

So, in laymens terms, it gives you more options to drill with because of the core?

One thing I have found to be true is that inconsistent release is a big problem if using an asymmetrical ball.  A little too much behind the ball, or around it, thumb out late. All of these things will make you wish for a symmetrical ball on a bad night...lol.  I also agree with Bob in that if you bowl on a wide variety of lanes and lane conditions a smoother, more predictable reaction is always a plus.  Just my two cents of course

I like the symmetrical core of the absolute, but have seen nothing but awesome rolling vapor's so far.  Just up to you weather you want symmetrical or assymetrical.
