Anything good to say about the Scorching Inferno?
« on: December 29, 2007, 03:13:56 PM »
Okay, here is my dilema.  I have recently been given a next to new Scorching
Inferno.  The generous person is a pro on the Senior Tour, and believe me, it
did not take him long to get dialed in with this ball. (Drilled Southpaw), and I
was most impressed by the ball's ease through the heads, get up some steam to the mid-lane
and dive right for ten in the pit.  So, being elated, I got on the reviews section of this forum and was surprised to read all the negative reports on this
release from Brunswick.  Help!!!!.  I am right handed, and am looking forward to
building a new track on this puppy.  Need some positive input please.
Many thanks, and Happy New Year to all.

Tony

the ball is a very strong early rolling piece, that i have found out to be.  mine is sitting at 4000 abralon with polish and it gets through the heads nicely with a strong midlane and backend move.  i did shoot 279 with it this past summer, but the house i bowl in, recently doesnt put enough oil out, so it sits in the closet.

but not knowing the lane condition you bowl on, or how you bowl, just take what i say with a grain of salt.  everyone bowls different.  but good luck in your endeavors.

I have one myself and I have a fury fury pearl a red zone and a groove and this is the first ball out of my bag. I bowl a second shift and its at 1000 grit polished and i shot 722 this past Thursday night with it.Excellent  midland read very predictable. Mine is drilled pin above bridge cg basically straight down below.I love this ball.

I recently gave mine away becuase it died out, but it lasted for a good year.  Awesome ball.  I had mine at OOB surface.  Carry was really good.

i used mine dull most of the time as it was designed for heavier oil. it worked fine on the pba shark pattern which has a 44' oil pattern. i also used it polished on the cheetah pattern late in the day. i used it dull in my mixed league to get through the plastic ball carrydown.

I like my pba inferno a lot which is the same thing as the scorchin. I just wished i put a different drilling on it than i did. Its sort of angular for me.

To me, it seemed to be a ball that liked to be thrown more direct, not cover a ton of boards.  Since it's such a strong ball and has a dull surface OOB, it needs a LOT of head oil.  If you're not speed dominant or throw on a really juicy shot, you might need to raise the surface or even polish it to get the best performance.  I did hear rumors about this ball dying faster than most, but it's not unusual for an oil eater to be high maintenance.  Keeping the surface fresh, and an occasional de-oiling and there's no reason it couldn't be a good ball for a long time.

IMO, it's one of the best oilers out there. Mine is 600 dull with a 4" pin to Pap drilling. I keep mine in the bag all the time. It will cut through any carrydown and I can get as deep as I want it it recovers. You have to have a good amount of oil for it to work though and my speed helps out alot. The carry is fantastic. I've been throwing mine for about 18 months. I have not had any loss in reaction. It just needs to be kept clean with CND every 10-15 games.

On a side note, mine is one of the color blems for $50! It had a white haze on it NIB, but all that was needed was to hit it on the spinner with a green pad and it looks just like a 1st quality. I have another NIB waiting for when this one is gone.

Awesome ball that can go dull to shiny and not miss a beat.  I liked mine at about 2000 abralon as a first option, but 220 and rough buff was a close second.

I really like mine.  It needs a lot of oil to be effective.

Yeah, that was my impression too. Even after surface changes and such that was my experience. IMO, it was a OK ball but, nothing to write home about.

I've had my scorching for almost a year now. I polished it using storm reacta shine.  I have only used it one house which had older wood lanes with medium-heavy oil. I really loved this ball in that house.  I was averaging 196 with it in league and at least 220 in practice.  Threw my first 300 with it in practice as well as a ton of high scores.  Early rolling and best ball I have ever had.

They demolished the old house 5 weeks ago and the new house that was built right behind it is opening this week.  I'll see how it does on new brunswick synthetic lanes.

I want to thank each and every one of you for taking the time and putting forth
the effort to provide much useful information.  I believe I will take a leap of
faith and get this guy laid out.  I like the idea of a 1000 grit work-up on the
ball, with not too strong a pin position.  Once again, many thanks, and
Happy New Year.

Regards,
Tony
