My Quantum Leap turns into a slime ball?
« on: November 02, 2007, 04:54:10 AM »
I have a Q leap with approx 150 games on it. Very polished. It is my dry lane ball. It is so smooth off the dry, just arcs. No snap at all. No matter how much I clean this ball after a game or 2 the oil is just all over the cover. It gets all greasy and loses reaction. Does not wipe off easy either. It just keeps going and does not recover. I left in in the car on a fairly warm day and it was totally wet with some oily like stuff. I gave it a hot water bath and clean it. I'm not a big believer in ball death. Why does this ball get so slippy? Can I fix it. Once it gets some oil on it does not seem to wipe off well and it loses its reaction.

My Original Inferno was like this as well.

After a couple shots the ball got a greasy/slimey feel and did not wanna react well at all.

Sounds like unreacted resin.
My Quantum Elite LE does the same just holding it in my warm hand.
Has it always done this?

Best thing when it dont want to wipe off use something like Track's green spray on cleaner if its still sold. It knocks it off right quick or some use alchol but I think thats illegal to use alchol..i don't know.

Don't think so. Haven't used it much lately. Shot great with it month back 757. Left in car a warmer day (not hot) and it was an oily mess. Hasn't been the same since even after I soaked/cleaned it.

Try the standard rejuvenation technique:
sand to 220 or 320 grit, put in Rejuvenation oven or other oil extraction device, then refinish as desired.
