I have both balls, and both are drilled with the pin 5" from PAP above the fingers, with no balance holes. I did re-do the surface on the Fury Pearl TE, though, taking it down to 320 and applying a coat of Rough Buff.
For me, the FPTE is about three boards stronger overall, with all of that coming off of the friction. Both balls pretty much ignore the first 30 feet of the lane, but the FP is significantly more responsive when it hits the dry. So it's not quite as good for me as the Av on a condition where I have to go more direct and battle transition, but it shines when I can get my feet deeper and play more for recovery.
