Title: Arsenal ranking
Post by: Bowl_Freak on January 05, 2016, 01:28:09 PM
So I just got great deals on some Brunswick stuff I couldn't pass up. So needless to say this will be my new arsenal for league and tourney. Would this be the order strongest to weakest?

Nirvana-heavy oil
Einstein
Brainiac
Scholar
Orig Mastermind- 2" to PAP polish

I have several OG masterminds (my favorite ball ever) and a nirvana.  One of my masterminds is short p2p and polished, and it is still a heavy rolling monster. I use it as an immediate step down from my 50x5x40 mastermind (kept dull but has a fair number of games on it.) I think you'll find the others to still be longer and more angular than the MM, even with a weak drill and polish. The cover is SO strong...

Looks pretty good.  My Nirvana is really strong even with a weaker drilling.  Einstein is strong, but seems you can use it on anything.  Brainiac is a beast once you have a little hook area burned in.  Scholar in my opinion hooks around the same as my Brainiac, but a much different look..it picks up more in the midlane

You don't have a light oil ball.

Isn't the original Mastermind a heavy oil solid as well? I'd figure on hook potential it would be above the scholar at least, possibly above the other 2 masterminds as well depending on your drilling and what you do to the surface. BTM has the OG Mastermind 1 point below the Nirvana in Hook potential with the same length.

Unless they drench your lanes you may need something from the Melee/ringer/Brute lines to round it out.

I really don't need light oil stuff, my rev rate is 275 so for me, the lower end stuff really doesn't hit too well. I'm experimenting in drilling a stronger cover very weak, Mastermind polished at 2" pin-pap with mb in track, pretty much a low-flare drilling. But I still have my Encore which is a light oil ball with the drilling it currently has. My goal is to open the lane up as much as I can. I can adjust fairly quickly so I think I should be fine.

Your rankings seem reasonable. The Brainiac is a little longer than the Scholar for me.  Otherwise everything looks fairly good.  I think something like a Melee Jab may fit very well along the bottom of that lineup.
