Any Warp Zone thoughts?
« on: December 04, 2003, 06:23:57 PM »
I am thinking about getting one of these and applying some polish just to get it to stay through the heads a bit longer but still have more midlane and backend than a Time Zone would.  Anyone have any opinions on how it reacts to polishing, and thoughts on the ball in general?  I know N-Smith has one, if you are reading let me know something about it.

I don't have a lot of games on mine but it reacts well to polish. It's not a Trizact finish so it's supposed to be very tunable. Mine just has a very light coat of polish on top of the factory 400 grit finish and it got through the heads clean with no sign of "burn-up" on a medium heavy house shot. Good hit and carry.

I have bowled only twice so far with it but in two different houses  one synthetic med. to heavy oil on a Christmas tree with an out of bounds from 3 to the gutter with good backends.  The other was a wood house with guardian on a top hat with med. to dry leaning more to dry with average backends.  I am a tweener with 15 mph,  with good side roll.  Ball worked great on the synthetic and HOOK is an understatement.  I waited to long to put it up in game 3 hitting the beak on 4 of 5 shots that I thought were good shots, just didn't expect this big a back end. On the wood, forget it.  I couldn't find enough oil to keep this ball hitting.  OIL is the name of the game with this ball, without it the ball goes dead in both hook and hit. Great ball but condtion specific.  In comparison to the Fear Factor it is not as angular or doesn't seem to go as long but covers a few more boards.

Thx for the info Dale and Bob.  I've been looking
to replace my Eliminator.  I'm a tweener also, but
I track pretty high.  So, getting through the heads
is top priority for me.  Would it work on a reverse
block, straight up the boards?  Any suggestion on
drilling?  3L? 4L?  -----P--

I don't think this ball would work on a reverse block unless the centers had some decent oil with length and even then it just flares to much.  My experience with a reverse block or sport condition is to get something that doesn't flare to much that is strictly a control ball with a mild arc.  I don't have my warp maxed out on the drilling and I still can't believe how much it moves and yes it does hit hard.  Sorry, not much help but if you want something that you can go deep and be sure it will make the turn this is one of those balls.  Dale

Hey, I finally saw one on the lanes.

It was a tough night for many bowlers in a top league.

Sort of dry in the heads and real hooky with some oil outside.

Saw a lefty have a real nice finishing game.

I'll have to update later, kicked off by the little lady!

To continue!

Shot was sort of a light reverse block.

Most guys playing the middle were having a lot of trouble getting any push to their breakpoint.  But if they caught the 10 board from inside no recovery.

Only high speed players were seeming to have any luck.

Then I saw this big lefty.

Playing straight down 9 out in the oil.

Just like me Rebel drilled about label say 4 by 4 1/2 slight finger weight position with a weighthole on the val above grip center.

This ball was rev rev rev rev smooth slurve to the hole and kick out multiple times.

I've been using my Rebel and Time Zone in this house and it has been looking great but just can't get the 7 out!  This ball is the same smooth slurve while continuing to rev hard all the way to the pocket.  Perfect for this shot where many reactives were overturning.

In comparison it looks like much less in the back then a Fuze Detonator, just like the Time Zone and Rebel(both of which a friend of mine called self correcting).

Might have to get one for those days when I need less but earlier.
Note player above is moderately high speed.  Last time I saw him in this house he was using a Throttle R and playing with a lot more backend.

REgards,

Luckylefty
PS Randy O.  I was only referring to reviews and at the time there WAS nothing but Crap.  Now there is a good review and YOUR comments and reviews are ALWAYS on my MUST read list!  Just to let you know!  Did not see previous comments.
