I have an Avalanch Pearl coming and was wondering what some of you thought about this piece... I have been bowling in many tournaments the last couple weekends and all I have seen is players use the solid Avalanch. Is the solid just that much better or what? looks, however, like I may just have to get both...thx

Oh god, thanks for the info... I will drill the Pearl strong because I too had a punisher and it was awful(over/under)! I think the coverstock is just to mild on those balls. Thanks again, John

I have an Avalanche Pearl(specs in profile), and I love it on toasty conditions; easy length with a nice pop on the back. The only time I have trouble is when I have to get past 20 at the arrows(not enough pop to carry the corners), but I rarely have to get that deep because of the excellent length.

I think that the Avalance Pearl looks pretty good in Sean Rash's hands..

I have both the Solid and the Pearl. The Solid is drilled 5" from PAP above the fingers, the Pearl 4 1/2" above. Both balls are in box condition, and neither has an XH.
In a nutshell, both balls need friction in order to give me a carry angle, but friction is usually never a problem on a house-type condition. I've found that the Pearl is a few feet earlier than the Solid, and is smoother at the break. Consequently, the Pearl works better for me on conditions where I need to play more direct through the dirt, or when I want a more even reaction from front to back, while the Solid is better when I have to get my feet deeper and play for recovery.
The Solid is about three boards stronger overall for me.
Hope this helps.

If you use either ball for the condition they are designed for (solid-medium to Medium dry, Pearl-medium dry to dry), they are great arsenal pieces. Or some one who is stepping up from plastic or non-reactive urethane.
Deadbait, in my observations and going by the core numbers, the Cherry Vibe has a stronger differential than the Avalanche. Plus, I found that the Cherry Vibe, because of of the stronger cover & core, would be a closer match to the Avalanche Solid.
So comparing the Cherry Vibe and the Avalanche Pearl may not be a fair test.
Personally, I really like my Avalanche Pearl when I need to stay farther right (I'm right handed), closer to the dry.

Verbs is correct.
The pearl is a great PBA regional ball with all the friction and beat up surfaces that are on the schedules. Alot of bowlers may never find an opportunity to throw on a typical house shot.
Just my 2 cents.
