Twisted Fury Destruction layout help.
« on: December 03, 2008, 12:33:36 PM »
I decided to get one and I want to drill it up before my US Open qualifier on Sunday, which'll be bowled on the same pattern as the open.  I just can't figure out how to lay it out so it'll be effective on it.  My info is in my profile and any help it GREATLY appreciated.  Thanks.

Even though the Twisty D can handle more volume than the original Twisted, I wouldn't call it an oil ball by any stretch of the imagination.  So you'd be looking for the Destruction as a go-to option once the track breaks down?

Also, where were you looking to fit the Twisty D in relation to the other equipment in your profile?

Well this is what I'm going to bring:

Maxxx Zone (RICO'd)
Blast Zone
Twisted Fury
Twisted Fury Destruction
Sidewinder (RICO'd)

I really don't use much of whats in my profile.  So I guess I'd like it to fit just below my Twisted Fury because sometimes it starts to hook a little early so I thought the Destruction would be a nice fit and one to go to when the TF hooks early.

A friend of mine has the solid with a 1" pin and drilled pin under RF and he is having really great success with it on synthetic lanes with medium to medium-heavy oil.

Well, your experience may end up being different, but for me and for the people I know who own both the original Twisted and the Twisty D, the Destruction is earlier and slightly stronger.  So to get it to fit *below* the original Twisty, you'd have to go with a weaker layout or a pretty good shine, or both.

FWIW, I carry an Avalanche Slide as a go-to ball from the Twisted.

This ball needs friction. That's not a bad thing. If you watch Brunswick's product video it was designed to go longer than the first Twisted and be more angular late.

My experience has been that on fresh patterns it's very good playing straighter lines on the outside. On broken down shots I can move in and swing it, but the bigest difference for me has been how it reads the friction. It is more consistent than the original. Very hard through the pin deck and not "squirty" at all.

I've said it before on here, but too weak a layout and you might feel there's something missing. The core and cover can get the ball down the lane with ease, so don't go too far from your PAP. Mine's 4 1/2 and above the fingers with the MB at about 60 degrees. That's PLENTY weak for me.

Also, don't be afraid to knock some of the "gloss" off the cover for an even better read on the lane. Not too dull, but 2000 to 4000 (if it's a new 4000) will help most bowlers.
