Avalanche?
« on: June 25, 2007, 02:16:10 PM »
I've been spending my time golfing, but I caught wind of a new Bwick release called the Avalanche.  Info?

Yes the T2 core is true. This line should sell very for pro shops. It has a very basic, proven, can't go wrong core/cover combo. The pearl looks visually appealing so far. As for the solid there are no computer graphics of it yet.

I heard the rumor that they would contain the ScreamR core? Anyway, a mild differential ball with a lower RG than the PGs makes much sense, especially a mild pearl that is less itchy than the discontinued Punisher. I just wonder where the solid ends up in Brunswick's arsenal?

I just saw the pic in brunswicks approach magazine. If I get time tomorrow I will try to scan them to the computer. It looks like it's either purple/silver or blue/silver the photos aren't real large.

Dizzy, the ScreamR core is the Rhino T2 core, The ScreamR was an X-zone Tour Edition 2 remake. The T2 core was extremely popular and extremely successful.

Ah, thank you for the clarification. It is the one with the low 0.023" differential, right? I just wondered, because the ScreamR had a slightly higher differential of 0.032" (I guess densities differed), which I think is the more likely option unless the Avalanches are for really light oil or even dry turf?

If I remember correctly the solid is a PK17 cover, the pearl is N'Control. At least that is what the "talkers" state on them.

So if this is correct, you have the Sapphire Zone/Power Groove cover on a T-2 core for the solid and the NControl cover on a T-2 core for the pearl.

Definitely a step up from the Grooves and a notch below the BVP line.

Sounds like a great move as all of the major ball companies are doing this in their lines at the price point of starter or 2nd level above entry level. They are keeping tried and true shapes/cover stock combos and not rehashing them as there top shelf products.

Now this is not solid info as I seem to remember seeing the old weight block from the WRW/Gold Rhino Pro somewhere in the mix....damn it stinks to get old

"With the Monster ScreamR Brunswick has moved it’s popular N’Control PowerStock coverstock system to the mid-price point"

So the Avalanche Pearl is the same as the ScreamR but in 2007!?

I heard that it is the T2 core. I believe the reason for them using the .032 differential on the ScreamR is that that the reason the X-Zone TE 2 was discontinued was that Bayer couldn't get one of the chemicals to make the N'Control coverstock. So the Brunswick R and D team had to reformulate a similar cover to call N'Control but the New N'Control is a little weaker than the original so they had to increase the diff. to create a similar ball rection.

Boy was I off a mile on that. I checked out the site and found out the solid is going to be PK18 with rough buff on it. Good coverstock with some lite shine over a lower diff weight block. Sounds like a great starter ball or pure control ball for the advanced player.
