It would depend on how much hook you want for dry lanes and how you want to attack them.  The power grooves are much stronger on the turn then most people would think.  True they get down the lane very well...but they flip hard for anyone with a decent amount of revs.  A pearl urethane would be a much more arc'ing type of ball that in some cases might not be enough ball unless you can square up.

The Power Groove series is not for truly dry lanes; the coverstock is just too powerful. Light oil, if you have good firm speed; medium-light oil is closer to its strength.

The Pearl urethane would be better for dry lanes.

A lot depends on your definition of "dry".

Like in my new review of the groove *coughReaditcough* , I think it's more of a med-light ball than dry.  Actual dry, not medium-light, is better for the the groove urethane.  So I'd go with that.

For *truly* dry lanes?  The urethane.

IME the reactive PGs are *wayyyy* too strong for dry lanes.

Get the Sonic X Solid! I got one and it works
great on dry lanes. It has a nice gradual arc
toward the pocket. Just my opinion though.

Thank you for all of the replies.  Here is clarification of the "dry" condition I am referring to:

Our house has a crappy oil machine in that it decides to clog up from time to time and strips the lane but does not put down very much fresh oil.  This occured two weeks ago and then again last week and I bowled 520 & 480 because all I have in my arsenal is particle equipment.  My stuff was moving off the face of the earth!

While a Sonic X Solid will be an arcing kind of ball it might still be too strong for you.  I would also consider a Storm Barbed Wire.  I have had both of these balls with similar layouts and the Barbed can get through the heads a bit easier and is easier to read the lane with it.  Atleast that is my experience thus far with it.

I think for dry lanes, the bruiser is a great choice, between the bruiser I have and the power groove, the PG is about 5 boards stronger without the carry. On dry, the bruiser is great from the middle of the lane.

Uh, maybe for you.  The bruiser, from every one I've seen, is definitely stronger.  I wouldn't recommend it as a dry lane ball.  The slayr, but not the bruiser.
