Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
« on: April 27, 2005, 06:50:51 AM »
That's sheep bleating to you slack jawed yokels.

Why is a name so important?

If the name Sarge Easter grip didn't exist, no one would have cared when Nick started using it.  He wanted a better reaction on the types of conditions he was seeing, so he tried something different.  I'm willing to bet less than 5% of you approach his physical game.  Few THB's need to reduce their rev rate or would appreciate the other "benefits" of a Sarge Easter.  Most of you need all the action you can get on your walls.

Same goes for the Rico.  If Nick wanted a drilling that kept the pin far from his PAP to reduce flare, but had the pin lower and CG kicked out to read the midlane better, no one would care.  Give it a name, and here come the sheep.  Again, how many non regional/professionals need the type of reaction that's described?  Also, as has been pointed out, the drilling has been around for a long time.  But once a "nation" member gives it a name, it's the cat's meow.  Brunswick states CG's don't matter, so put the pin where you want, and kick the CG where you want so you can put your all important weighthole where you want.  How much simpler could it be?

As much as it sounds, I'm not trying to rile anyone up.  If you want or need a specific reaction, or have a problem that needs to be addressed, ask that question.  People, Brunswick faithful or otherwise, will give you the best advice they can.  Don't fall into a name trap just because someone who throws 10 times the ball you do does.

Where's Honestly when you need him?

Even though you're completely right, you know you're gonna get your a55 flamed, right?

That's what me and stanski were saying in the Rant thread....So many people want to use these things, when they should never have even thought of using them.

I'm ready for all reasonable complaints.  I doubt I'll get any reasonable ones though.

Nails, now you see the kind of opposition I've encountered from the "CG doesn't matter" thing.  People can't handle the truth, so they'll call you an idiot and take cheap shots at you.

I guarantee you will not get one well constructed counter-argument giving reasoning to give opposition, rather just a bunch of people saying you're a whiner/idiot.  Quite sad indeed.

1) This is a forum where information is transfered.  As a pro shop worker bee who is learning the ropes, the Rico/Sarge-Easter posts have been a wealth of information that has been very helpful to me. Do I bowl like Nick..no..do I have customers that do...yes...so learning and reading up on it has been quite helpful.

2) YOU choose to read about it by clicking the thread....YOU just have to avoid the thread and won't have to deal with it..

3) Your tone is quite the reason why you will be thought of as an a.......also, this post is another reason you will be considered an a....it is a worthless post that comes off with you just having to say this to feel whatever you need to feel...*superior...or whatever*..

my 2 cents worth....

Ding Ding Ding.  Lane1Bowler is the first winner.  Oh, how sad.  I've been ignored by the new CEO of the organization that will replace the USBC!  ROTFLOL.

I know what I'm in for Andy.  If people come on and make good arguments and prove me wrong, I'll slink away.  If I get the normal treatment, that just proves my point.

I tried to soften my point by telling people to present their specific problems so their concerns can be addressed, not to just ask for the newest fad that might not fit their game.  I don't have anything against Brunswick or Nick.  I own some of their equipment, and Nick throws one heck of a ball.  I'm just trying to point out that something that works for a 19 mph/500 rpm guy just might not work for the typical 16 mph/300 rpm guy.

Srlunatic:

1) Good points.  Kudos to you for wanting to learn about things that could help your customers.  I know it's a public forum.  I never stated no one needs this information.  I just can't understand why once something "new" comes out in some of these forums, it becomes an epidemic so fast, and why there are 100 posts asking the same questions.

2) It's mostly the fact that there aren't just a few isolated posts about a "new" subject.  See above.  I feel the forums get clogged up when a topic gets beat to death.  Sure I could ignore it, but when you have to look through 20 topics in the Brunswick forum, just to find something not related to the Rico, it gets ridiculous.

3) Agreed, but without the sarcastic tone, I'll bet I'd get the same reactions.  See any negative post about CG's, the nation, Lane#1.....

ahh so now the student becomes the teacher. lemmie just reach into my tool bag and get out the ol flame blower. its time to flame some a55. ah cripes out of butane. guess ill just have to use my words.

Nails, you right about it being a fad and then becoming like the latest epidemic to hit bowling, but to be honest things need a name. look at all the drillings they all have names and if so be that someone comes up with something new and wants to name it after themself then that there right, shoot ive got 3 drills of my own that work well for me, but i wouldnt dare say its right for someone else, but people do like to try new things. if all you have are stacked balls and then some one comes along and throws a ball with a pin over bridge ball and it smashes the pocket just like your stacked ones but gives more length then mostly likely youll want to try that.

i personally think its about trying out something new when so many others do well with it and then swear by it. half my bench is stacked and the other half pin under all cg's kicked out. and why b/c i like the flare i get with and outside cg. but if the opp. arose for me to play something like a pin over with cg in or on the left of my thumb id be more than happy to give it a whirl if it works then i keep it in mind for when it will match up with the right cover and lane.

oh and to my knowledge nick is not to credit for this drill. it has been out for a long a55 time, but i think as ball are made to rev quicker and flare more people fall into the sense that they are high rev players, so they must need something to decrease that. yeah right, that is whole 'nother topic. but hey no worries here. i wont just jump into that boat. wanna know why? cuz im not just some house bowler who believes its all the balls fault or the drill for that matter.

RT, it's nice to try new things, but since the majority of bowlers have an RPM rate under 350, Sarge is most definitely NOT the way to go for the majority of bowlers.  But of course, I won't impede anyone's decision to try something and then have to plug/redrill it when it doensn't work...

no your right about that there are a lot of people with low revs and sarge is not for them.

also so nick can understand. it means that half the balls i own are drilled stack and the rest are pin under ring with the cg's kicked out. cg's in give control arc, cg's out give flare equaling stronger flip turn.

Nails: "I just can't understand why once something "new" comes out in some of these forums, it becomes an epidemic so fast, and why there are 100 posts asking the same questions."

Call me crazy but isn't this true about pretty much everything? whether it's bowling or golf or whatever, isn't everybody always looking for some miracle cure to thier game to make things easier? you're right, not everything works for everybody, and i agree, people do go a little bit crazy, but about the quote above, what do you see in every forum when a new ball is released? for instance, when the AI was introduced what did you see? AI this, AI that. Why does anybody have an urge to go to the driving range and test a Nike Ignite 460? because that's what tiger uses, there are a lot of reasons why people do some crazy things, but most of the time, they're just plain curious, and your little post won't change anything,it may even make things worse, so i'd give up and take a bow while you're still ahead.
