Back after 8 plus years - Need Help
« on: September 02, 2005, 12:33:19 PM »
I've been asked to join a team, after being out of bowling for more than 8 years. My question is what type of ball to get. When I left I was using a Sumo and a Black Angle and averaging about 212.

My normal shot is basically down and in, usually somewhere around the 10th board and about 18-19 mph (the new auto scoring is wild, where's the yellow pencils). I rarely have trouble on dry lanes, because I can swing the ball a little and my speed. When I struggle, it is usually on very slick lanes. I don't want something I can't control, but I would like to take care of the new technology.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, when I walk onto the lanes next week with a Sumo, I'm going to feel like Fred Flintsone. Maybe I should use my LT-48.

Thanks again.

Welcome back to bowling!

THe Sumo should work on drier stuff, but for just a single good ball i would say the Slash from Track, its good on various lane conditions and is cheaper than high performance balls.

Like Bighook said, the Slash is a very versatile ball able to cover many different conditions.

Personally, I would go with the V2 Sanded. Has been in production longer than most balls out there because there still selling. I have one and it has over 750 games on it and it's still reacting fine. In fact, I like it better now than before.lol. Plus it's in the midline range. Save about 50-60 bucks. I seriously doubt a hi performance ball will be able to overcome the power and consistency I find in teh V2 Sanded. Give it a look. For your information, it's Ebonite.

You silly people, this is Brunswick Country, and ya'll better go on now!

Starting out, Nemesis... Enough said.

If you're willing to spend a few bucks, get an Absolute Inferno.

I agree with what the other Brunswick people have said on this board. If you want something affordable that will give you decent movement based on your ball speed and revs, get a Nemesis. If you are willing to get a high performance ball, the Absolute Inferno is the best bet. Since getting the AI earlier this year, it's been my first ball out of the bag for any league or tournament situation.
