Vapor Zone Layout Suggestions?
« on: June 22, 2006, 01:18:11 PM »
I am buying my first Brunswick ball (Vapor Zone) and I could use a little help with the layout.

My axis is 4 3/4" over and 1 3/8" up, my ball speed is 17mph, with medium revs.

I am looking for a decent midlane reaction with a strong arc backend reaction, not exactly a flip.  I will be mostly using this ball on PBA regional patterns.  I am going to use this ball as my medium oil strong arc ball (not a control ball) for carrydown.

My pro shop guy suggested the following layout and I want to get opinions on it. 65 degree layout, pin 3" above midline, 4 1/2 pin to PAP distance, MB 1" right of the thumb.

Thanks for any suggestions.
Chuck

I would go under bridge, with the PSA in the strong position. Mine is like that and produces the type of reaction your looking for.

Is the strong position for the PSA 1" right of the thumb or somewhere different?

Thanks

Thanks for the reply Ric.

What would the difference in reaction be of using the layout suggested by my pro shop guy vs. the drilling you suggested?  Would I still get a strong arc on the backend, by putting the pin below the fingers?

65 degree layout, pin 3" above midline, 4 1/2 pin to PAP distance, MB 1" right of the thumb.

vs.

place the pin below and go 4 1/2-5" pin to PAP and place the PSA (mas bias) at 55 degrees. If the ball is too lengthy, place a weight hole down the VAL to help it read earlier and smoother in the back.

I am not too familiar on what factors affect ball reaction shape the most.

Thanks for any help.

I had this drilling on mine and loved it, but it flipped a ton and I could not use it on PBA patterns.
