The harder you throw the ball, the more revs you need in order to match-up.
My experience is that MOST guys release the 15 lb. ball better than the 16, and thus can open up the lane easier. IF one could put the same release on the 16 as they do the 15 they should stay with the 16 lb. ball, but practically, it doesn't happen in the majority of cases.
Pick up a slightly used 15 and have it drilled properly and experiment a little. You aren't into it as much as a new ball, so if you choose to go back to 16 it was an inexpensive experiment. My guess is that after throwing the 15 for a week or so, you'll not want to go back, though. Good luck.
