Ball selection..

Well, I bowled a pretty fun tournament today. It was something like a house shot, but one problem.. If I threw it outside 10, say hello to early roll and no push down the lane at all. I had to stay inside 10 the whole day, and one little miss, just forget about it.

Is there a kind of ball that can combat this condition or layout or something? It wasn't that hard of a shot overall, just a little frustrating. Maybe someone has had the same experience.

I'd prefer a Brunswick ball (if I need a ball), that's why i'm posting in this forum.

PS: The Smash Zone did absolutely amazing today. I placed my highest finish (11th) in the PJBT (Pennsylvania Junior Bowling Tournament) today, and almost having my second 300 there too. I had the front 8 and guess what, I threw it out like 2 boards too much. LOL.

Obviously if you want to play the outside, and the outside is dry, weaker drilled and/or weaker surfaced stuff is the name of the game. Avalanche Slide/Power Groove Dry-R/Monster SlayR would probably be good choices to start.

Personally, to me, if it's that dry outside it sounds walled up. A medium oil shiny pearl like a Rattler played with a high level of angle (getting it into those dry boards later rather than earlier, in other words) sounds like it would be the name of the game to me.

Thanks for the suggestion, holland! I really do prefer to play as straight as possible, or at least as minimal of a swing as possible. I just noticed that I don't have a ball like the Rattler. My Wild Ride is way too early to backend so hard, and if I moved too far left with it, it wouldn't come back too far right, it was going high. I'll look into something with either more backend or either the Slide or Dry/R then.

For extremely dry and straighter outside lines, I like the Avalanche Slide also. My Rattler is too strong to play out there unless there's a little more oil.
Now if you wanted to swing the ball out and watch it come back real hard the Rattler could be your ticket. Good luck.

One of the weaker pieces would work with a 2000 grit finish to smooth out the dry...It will keep the ball from instantly bouncing...

I disagree.

Move like you did.  Test your accuracy.  Learn to combat a different shot from a different angle.  You don't need a new ball, you just have to find a comfort zone on something you haven't seen before.

You can still go fairly straight inside of 10, right?!
